To all that doesn't understand how this works: 1. by flying away, the game retains the code "start battle uppon entering route X" 2. you don't have to defeat the trainer, you can just lose the battle to abuse the system. 3. if you don't battle a trainer, the game might not code properly enough for the pokemon you want to appear. 4. the game retains code from every last battle, so by doing this (battle a trainer, face a pokemon with the same HEX), you are telling the game, the next time you went to that route X you started it all to "start a battle, spawn the last pokemon i battle". For example, special stat of 112 will spawn a wedlle, because that ditto turned into a pokemon with that stat, the code that remained is "last pokemon spawn in wild was weedle" and not a ditto or the pokemon it transformed into. Weird right? xD So when you go back to that route X, the game wants to start a battle with no trainer or patch of grass (because you flew away before starting anything in the first place), so the game will spawn you the last code it retained once you enter that route. Therefore, start battle with wild pokemon, last hex was 112, spawn weedle lvl 7. The lvl 7 is encoded into the HEX so, if you want a lvl 1 pokemon, just use growl 6 times (i think) before fainting the transformed Ditto. Hope this clear a lot of confusion on how this system works.
@@euterpe_exe the pokemon you will get is based on the SPECIAL static of the last pokemon you have fought. To Eevee corresponds the number 102 www.supercheats.com/gameboy/questions/pokemonred/294260/what-is-the-ditto-mew-glitch.htm So the tactic is this: you get a pokemon with a 102 in SPECIAL and you look for a DITTO maybe on the route 15 or in the grass before the Indigo Plateau since you have a 30%chance to find him. Ditto will transform in your pokemon, copying his special. The rest is explained in the video, you just comeback where you started this ritual and you'll get to fight the eevee and eventually catch him.
Just to add onto this, the reason why youd want a level 1 pokemon is in these games you were never intended on getting a level 1 pokemon. The lowest level is level 2. The game glitches out when you get a small amount of exp (less than the amount needed to level up to level 2, so maybe battle a level 2 pidgey or something and switch out mid battle.) When you get that exp it doesnt really know what to do, and I think it underflows to 100? I could be wrong about the underflow part, but it definitely goes to level 100
Man, all I can think of while watching this video is how much the games have changed since the originals. I haven't played the GB games since 1998-2001, so seeing them in action again all these years later...they were certainly technological achievements back in the day. How impressive.
If you’re trying to get a Pokemon with a special stat lower than 6, look for a special stat of 257-262. The system wraps around the number 256, so a special stat of 300 would produce the same results as a special stat of 44.
if you use growl on the ditto 6 times before killing it or running away the Pokemon you find will be level one abd as long as it gets less experience than it needs to go to level 2 it will jump straight to 100... each time growl is used it reduces the level by 1 each time and thanks to this you're allowed to do the level 1 to 100 glitch
+Ronny Mendez Instead of fainting the Pokemon or running away if it's wild, for the ditto glitch, have a Pokemon in your team use the move growl 6 times (the growl removes 1 level for each use) so instead of finding a level 7 Pokemon after fighting the ditto you find a level 1 Pokemon. There is a glitch within the game for level 1 Pokemon because they shouldn't exist that is if it gets less experience than it needs to go to level 2 (example 32 out of 47 XP) it jumps straight to level 100. This level 100 Pokemon always follows your orders no matter how many badges you have. You can do this glitch repeatedly to.
if you want to do this over and over again, then just repeatedly lose to the trainer you fight before ditto and remember to heal at the fuchsia city pokecenter before losing
you can reuse the trainers that start the glitch (like the Gambler) since you never actually fight them. You can run out of regular trainers (the ones you need to fight before encountering a wild ditto).
Hey guys, I thought it might be helpful to note that rattata has a special stat of 21 (for those who want mew) at level 20 make sure to cancel the evolution or the stats will not be the same hope this helped and I can also confirm this works on vc(2016)
and i just worked so hard to get my 31/8/31/30/31/31 timed mew, or not 3 reset ^^ gonna reset to get a perfect machamp in yellow and teach it fissure, and hope for no guard when transfer xD scarf champ!
I'm having a blast in pokemon red on the ds atm! Caught Gengar Mew Machamp Dragonite Scyter and Pinsir, found missingno with special of 81 cloned candy and masterballs. This video is pure awesomeness, especially with the pokemon bank thing. Good job.
+Ulti-Apelio i've been using the long range trainer glitch to find different pokemon too :D I got myself a Lapras and various safari zone pokemon that way xD
I remember that you can't do it on trainers that you can already see, as the game calculates the trainers in sight and knows the start menu will be disabled the second you step into thier line of sight. Trainers who are not in view are not calculated in advance thus you are able to open the start menu before the game calculates the trainer that is now in view. You don't need to wait to get HM02 (Fly) either as you can catch an Abra much sooner and Teleport works just fine.
Absolutely amazing video, taught me how to get safari zone pokemon without doing the terrible safari zone, and awnsered questions I've had a long time, thank you very much, you've just earned a like and subscribe!
So helpful! Used this to catch a Charmander! :D The tricky part is indeed finding a Ditto on your first try, since any other Pokemon could show up and ruin the process, but if a Ditto does show up, it's easy sailing
+mega sean It won't ruin the process if you don't find Ditto on your first try. I've done this like 50 times and run into plenty of Pidgeys, Pidgeottos, and Glooms before I found a Ditto.
I beat all the trainers except the Gambler and Bird Keeper the OP uses in this video. I just make sure I lose to him so I can reuse him for the glitch. You can't make the glitch happen if you've beaten everyone. Does that help?
If the number of the special stat is 256, it will count as 0. Therefore, the counter restarts. I used my Gengar with a Special Stat of 295 and i found a Graveler. Since 256 counts as 0, 295 - 256 = 39.
+Braidy idk the names in english. There is a dito in the basement of the 'pokemon house' (i believe so its called) which is on that island all the way in the south
Great video. I'm going to have to try this in the future. Even though it is a lot more harder than just putting in a GS for that Pokemon you want it seems fun lol
AWESOME!! Thanks for posting. Anyone catch Alakazam without a master ball? This is hard, at level 7 all he knows is teleport. BTW I'm using a level 52 Zapdos to make him appear.
i hear if you use 6 growls on the ditto before defeating it it will make your mew(/whatever pokemon you fight when the menu closes) level 1, which can then jump to level 100
Yes, so long as you have enough undefeated trainers to fight after flying from the Gambler (since you don't actually fight the Gambler, he is reusable).
I did that trick and my game crashed when I tried to withdraw from a box, so make sure your new "level 1" pokemon can fit in your party when you fight them.
Yup, it's true, it's called the "experience underflow glitch" or something like that. I did it with a Mew and got it to level 100. I was looking to get a second Mew to level it up legally, and get its original moveset.
changes to the Ditto's attack stat determines the level of the wild encounter. So a normal attack stat = level 7. Lower the attack stat 5 times (i.e. use Growl 5x) and it will be at level 2.
the only thing that affects the pokemon you catch is the special stat value of the last pokemon you encounter. we only use ditto since we know what it's special stat will be
Pure chance. Don't tell me you've not been curious about trying to press the start menu while in line of sight of a trainer? Now imagine a hundred million players thinking the same thing. Do you honestly think glitches like that stay hidden?
@MusicalSamurai Stage 1 being: "Setting up a fight to go back to, but the game doesn't know what to fight yet" Stage 2 being: "Fix the disabled Start Menu only by a trainer that can Walk towards you" At this point you can actually safely save your game. Stage 3: "Last Encounter (Win or Run) will set up the variable needed (Special Attack)" I've got a Mew from a wild level 20 Pidgey, but wild pokemon rarely have the same stats, the next level 20 Pidgey was a Shellder...
yeah the guy right to the left of him works, there's a fisher on the docks south of Lavender town, someone somewhere in Mt. Moon (i don't remember exactly where), and a few others
Hey what is the highest special you can find before fighting Brock? I want to do this glitch or whatever but want to see the variety of Pokémon I can possibly get
Exygin If you use the glitch to catch marowak, it will first appear as a ghost. The only place you find it wild is in the safari zone, so if you encounter it anywhere else, it will appear as ghost (cubone's mother).
You need the ditto in order to choose what pokemon you want to encounter. If you just go to lavender after the fight, what you encounter will based off that trainer's last pokemon's special stat value
Just saying; after you've flown away from long distance trainer, go to a Pokémon Centre, go to the PC, change box to save the game and then switch off the game and boot it up again. After you've done this, you will be able to pause the game, but the glitch will still be active. So by doing this, you can get to different areas using Fly to find trainers to activate the next part of the glitch.
here are some of the ones i caught bulbasour-153,charmander-176,squirtle-177,raichu-85,alakazam-149, machamp-126,golem-49,gengar-14,hitmonlee-43,hitmonchan-44,lickitung-11 ,chansey-40, scyther-26,electabuzz-53,magmar-51,pinsir-29,gyarados-22 ,lapras-19,evee102,vaporeon-105,jolteon-104,flareon-103,porygon-170, omanyte-98,kabuto-90,aerodactyl-171,snorelax-132,articuno-74, zapdos-75, moltres-73,dratini-88,mewtwo-131,mew-21
I remember the missing no. Glitch from way back when and my question is: how the fuck did someone come across these these? I mean the whole sequence of events is really precise and doesn’t seem like you could accidentally do it
the trainer to the left of the Gambler works, there's a fisherman by the snorlax south of Lavender, one of the trainers in Mt. Moon too. The special stat is taken from whatever pokemon ditto transforms into. you can modify it by either picking a different pokemon or by leveling it up/using calcium to increase its special stat
Did you know that if you catch a certain "Glitch" Pokémon by doing this and trade it to G/S/C you will get a Totodile with the same attacks as your "Glitch" Pokémon in R/B/Y? You can teach it Ice Beam, Submission, and other attacks that Totodile normally doesn't learn and trade it to G/S/C... :) To help you out with that "Glitch" Pokémon, I think the Special of your Pokémon must be 198, when you encounter it it will be a Golduck-like Pokémon, catch it, teach it good moves, and trade it! Works!
gastly's special stat value is 25, so idk why it shows up. make sure you are making ditto transform into the correct pokemon, or get a new pokemon with special 21 and try again
There is a glitch, you catch an Abra and stand above the patch of grass with the single trainer by the water in ceruleian city.Stand just out of reach of him, then move down and push start at the same time,if done correctly, your menu will open. Make Abra teleport, the trainer will notice you but you will go to the pokemon center. After that happens you fight the next trainer you see, teleport again. Next time you get on the bridge,if done right from the stat of your pokemon,a wild mew will appear
If you use Growl 6 times it will be level 1,if it's not a first stage pokemon (Pokemon with no evolutions don't apply to this) it will become level 100 if you get under 51 exp.
we could use any pokemon, but ditto is nice since you can control its Special stat. When you fight the slowpoke in the mew glitch, its Special stat value is 21, so you don't need to mess with ditto
How do you get Kangaskhan? The pokemons special needs to be 2. How do you get that without f8? I need Kangaskhan to get f8 and its impossible to find in the safari zone
the guy right to the left of the gambler works, there's a sailor on the bridge by the snorlax, and one of the trainers in Mt. Moon too. there are a few others, but those are the ones i remember off the top of my head
yeah that's the tricky bit. you will have to pick a pokemon with a really low special stat (Onix has the lowest of the original 151). You then have to do the ditto trick to get it at a low level (like 2 or 3 using the level modifier glitch) so that its special stat is low enough.
Quick explanation and summary Too get new you need to get a Pokemon with a special stat of 21 Fly away from any trainer that walks up to you Fly to a place where you can battle a person but needs to walk to you Beat him Fly to route 15 or 14 (red, blue) or Pokemon mansion Let the ditto transform into the Pokemon with the special stat of 21 Without battling anyone else return to the battler Your menu pops up and then press b A wild mew appears
Do the missigno glitch. If you encounter the missigno seen in this video the amount of your item in your 6th slot will be set to 128. You can do that either with this glitch or with the old-fashioned "old man" or just "missingno" glitch
that is soo cool. thank you. no one else i know plays pokemon anymore, but next time i play Yellow, i'll finally be able to have an Alakazam for the first time in years! :)
in the actual games onix is immune to electo-type attacks, as it is a stone/ ground type. in the series ash' pikachu is able to shock brocks onix but that's just for the sake of the battle being won by ash.
What do you mean adjacent? does it have to be the trainer you fought or the trainer you flew from if its the trainer you flew from then what town is adjacent from cerulean
MissingNo glitch. But he does mention that he used the walk through walls glitch to get to that point. There is a way to get many (like 120) of any item through the MissingNo glitch without a gameshark (I've done it) and the trick he shows also works (I've done it) though I agree he had to use a gameshark because he lacks a pokedex, the gameshark is not necessary for either glitch.
You need to go to the basement of the burnt mansion to find one, and they're rare even down ther. but if you use a repel to get to the basement, then save, you can try as many times as needed to find your ditto.
So that means with this glitch and the other 2 in Cirulean City you could potentially get 3 Mews. Not to mention if you milked this glitch over and over again and again. That's insane.
You can fly anywhere you want. The point is you need to go back to whatever route you escaped from the trainer. I went to lavender because it was right next to the Gambler's route. I could also have gone to celadon or saffron and walked to that route.
@TheDeastro yeah the glitch isn't limited to how i did it here, there are many ways to start it (dig works in a cave for example). this is just the most well known version.
you dont need to battle the ditto at all!!! the special stat of the last pokemon you battle after the trainer fly glitch is what determines what pokemon you see ditto has nothing to do with the glitch
Catching MissingNo. dosn't mess anything up, well.. the hall of fame thing, but that's it. Just check a pokedex entry and everything turns back to normal.
it's the same for both. the glitch pokemon you encounter will be different for R/B and Y though (but the values to make a glitch appear will be the same)
yeah missingno. is generally harmless as far as save corruption goes. some of the nastier glitches (like hex 99 from yellow) can seriously wreck stuff or just straight up crash the game
