Knowing where our bread is buttered, we thought we'd upload a little treat for the Doctor Who fans in our audience. So we looked up some ads featuring stars of the show. There are more, so we might do another one next year. In the meantime, here are:

Its basically because most of the doctors characters are basically the actors themselves. The BBC tends to give them a free reign in terms of characterisation.

The first ad also sounds like the voice of Peter Jones, the voice of the book in the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which itself had quite a bit of Doctor Who cross-pollination.

Poor guy's left in a light house with a cat and a can opener. 3:24 That is just bad. 4:16 If only that worked in real life. 4:39 Davison should have his own cooking show. I'd love to see this guy go up against Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay's swearing vs the 5th Doctor's kindness would have been an excellent dynamic. 5:08 Why wasn't this a thing?

With the exception of the Police Public Call Box sign, the TARDIS in the first ad looks better than the one used onscreen during that time.

The c50 was good on petrol but 209mpg? No chance, 109 maybe. I guess this was before the EU brought in "truth in advertising" legislation (the reason why we also lost the Um Bongo advert - they didn't drink it in the Congo).

Bonus: The Peter Davison ad had Sandra Dickinson on the other end of the phone, i.e. Trillian from the TV version of The HitchHiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Peter Davison shared a scene with her on that when he played the heavily-made-up Dish Of The Day sketch. He was married to her for 6 years...
