I don't know how he got the power he has but I can guarantee that if I was working in any position of his authority I'd not be fooled by his lies. They are baseless with little believability. Without a doubt it was a total miscarriage of justice and they were innocent of the actual rape and near-death beating of the victim and it's disgusting how Trump sticks to his guns (as if he would ever admit he was wrong, about anything)and insist they were guilty and should have been executed. That said, they actually did go into Central Park looking to mug and beat up people. Earlier that evening, some of the CP 5 had participated in a beating of a homeless man. I worked at a court reporting agency a few years after they had been exonerated by the confession of the actual perpetrator and by DNA evidence and I proofread the depositions of them and other witnesses deposed in various lawsuits they brought against NY and the NYPD where they admitted under oath that they had been participating in other acts of violent crime. So yeah, they were shafted and not guilt of the crime they were convicted of -- they didn't rape and beat the jogger. It was a bad prosecution and they shouldn't have served the time they served. But it's not as if they were completely innocent victims either.
