I watched the song's original video for the first time today, having only played the CD hundreds of times. It's visually perfect, Manson was a perfectionist. He's a pretty good writer and musician anyway but he's a visual artist of a high order. This pushed more boundaries than I realized. Oh, then the Columbine thing, what ingratitude.
@@j_freed oh it destroyed his career in the mainstream for sure not that he had anything to do with that tragedy. Man that video is so art and so far before its time!
Picture this: It's 1998. You are almost 14. Your parents know you are obsessed with a singer/band called "Marilyn Manson." This comes on TV while your Mom and Dad are in the living room and watch it live with you. Your Dad at some point walks out of the room with his head down. One of my best memories ever. My Dad has since become a huge Manson fan!
My friend Mark Chaussee took John 5's place as a temporary live guitarist (2004-2005) for the Against All Gods world tour. While he enjoyed the tour and playing with MM he didn't like being the new guy that replaced John 5 and having to change his look to fit in. Mark also played in Rob Halfords band "Fight" and "The Coup De Grace" and recorded a couple of songs with "Danzig".
I love how he adds, "They'll fucking blow your mind!" After the last bridge in the song. I remember, this performance was actually the most controversial musical act in mainstream television history. This performance was compared to the Elvis first performance of "You Ain't Nothin But a Hound Dog" on national television in the 50's. When they refused to show Elvis from the waist down after the first thirty seconds of the song, because his dancing was considered too sexually provocative.
I fell into a burning ring of fire down down down in the flames went, higher, and it burns burns the ring of fire, the ring of fire, poop f**k s**t low
Damn! This is like Madonna giving birth to David Bowie's love child on a dirt floor!! I remember watching all those years ago as a kid. He was ahead of his time.
A beast of an album and the dope show is such an awesome brilliant song with glam rock roots and awesome lyrics to it. Im 48 now and remember when mechanical animals came out and as rock guitarist i truly admire Manson for this Album because its incredible in many ways, hes one of the true artists...hats of 👌🤘🎸
I have this issue of "Guitar world" with a Marilyn Manson interview from the "Antichrist Superstar" era where Marilyn and Twiggy are asked what they think will be the next stage for the band. Marilyn: Big tits! Twiggy: on US that is. Marilyn: Yeah. Apparently they liked that concept so they went with it.
*FIRST TIME JOHN 5 PLAYED WITH MARILYN MANSON AND FIRST TIME JOHN 5 SAW MARILYN MANSON PLAY. AS TOLD BY JOHN 5 IN AN INTERVIEW. GREAT THAT WE CAN FIND THIS RELIC TO JOHN 5'S CAREER*
I am trying to spot the Goddess Bunny somewhere here. Apparently, according to Marilyn's interview with Howard Stern they featured the Goddess Bunny in the live performance here, but MTV cut her out apparently due to the fact the world 'wasn't ready to see her'.
Jesse Bond the camera is so clearly trying to do everything in its power to not show goddess bunny. Such an icon, total bs that they wouldn’t film her.
This is not the original airing. I saw this live and there were a couple of clear shots of Bunny. I recall because my friend and I said “wtf is that!”. During the re-airing there were edits that resulted in mostly a complete removal from the performance.
I'm a from da hood etc..multiple music genre fan.....this song is #universal in general...#enjoy life to everyone regardless of #our #ethnic races💯💯💯🏁🌎🌎🌎🌎😎😎😎🎶🎶🎶1 life 1love
Vi numa fita VHS que meu primo tinha gravado um especial do MM que tinha passado na MTV, mais ou menos faz a mesma quantidade de tempo, hahahaha (2003 por aí)
So for this performance Dick Clark did not want The Goddess Bunny (Sandy Crisp) to be shown on camera at all. She talks about it in a clip on her channel on here. She heard it on the ear piece during rehearsal I guess where he said “Don’t film the drag queen!” She took offense and so she told Manson and Twiggy about it. So Manson and Twiggy then told her they would get close to her on stage where the cameras had no choice but to get shots of her. You can see Twiggy walk up to her during this a play next to her. Also at the end the cops all made out thus the panning of the cameras at the end.
man that split hahaha and john 5 going batshit crazy You dont see stuff like this anymore, :( stuff thats a actuall SHOW that i wouldent mind paying for Fuck the music industry
I prefer their 1997 performance. The audience was completely shocked to the point of no reaction. But here, one year later, they’re all cheering him on which kinda devalues they mystique.
