The Downfall of LEGO Castle 

License themes are lego's way of playing safe. When a new theme is created they have to consider how well it could do. Licesed themes are recognizeable to people cause it's about the movies and such we are familliar with and often what is curantley popular like cinimatic. It's easyer to conect quickkley to Ironman or Hulk then a new charecter brainstormed by creators.

It makes no sense. I wouldn't be surprised if they had this little minitheme just sitting around and decided to release it earlier than expected. Either way, I have no clue what they were thinking

Absolutely. It's unfortunate that LEGO worked so hard to take Castle to the next level only to give up in 2013. Love what you're doing with Castle content btw.

Wild West is never coming back. The way that politics in this country have developed since 2002 (the last year they were on shelves) is mind-boggling. What was once an innocent childrens' toy is now a symbol of "racism" and "colonial oppression". Neo-cons have allowed the radical left to take the reigns of cultural progression in this country, much to the detriment of everyone involved. Pirates will most likely, eventually, come back in the form of Pirates of the Caribbean. As for Dreamzzz, they DO seem to be selling well among children. They might not be aimed at AFOLs but that isn't their target audience.

If POTC does come back i could see it returning under icons … that’s it

@@OurToyWorld I just thought that when it comes to vehicles and senery\desplay sets they pute the vehicle focus on kids and alot of the senerey sets are in colectors. Wish the display based sets wer more varied for more buyers. I'm getting tired of great sets like rivendale at huge builds and prices. I'd rather they did lotr like harry potter with severall sets you can combine for a larger build.

I guess they get to grow up with the current state of LEGO Castle - a property divided between Creator, Icons & Ideas.

This is very true I own the dragon mountain and soldier’s fort (aswell as the brick bounty, the treasure island and the shipwreck defense) and although both treasure island and shipwreck defense are pretty good and creative ways to design a set. The brick bounty does feel empty however it doesn’t have the same charm as the bounty back from 2009 (I think). The kingdoms line had potential but they just didn’t capitalize. I own the mill village (luckily) and the 2 smaller sets aswell as the dragon knights’ fortress. But their best one was the kings carriage ambush. They just have to put more pieces into the sets and maybe then it will feel finished instead of empty

Yes, Nexo Knights is chopped liver, lmao. But you're right, 2015 Pirates was nothing special either. Both 2015 Pirates and 2013 Castle were one wave themes, that came and went. Wish we had gotten another theme for both property but oh well, it is what it is. Thanks for watching!

Nexo knights is its own thing. It's a hybrid of space and castle. I wouldn't really include it in either theme

The royal knights and Fright Knights are pretty mid in my opinion. And I really don't like KK1 or KK2. That being said, I think Fantasy Era Castle and Kingdoms were two FANTASTIC Castle themes. They not only restored glory to Castle, but elevated it to new heights. Just makes me sad that after those two themes, which you could argue saved the Castle property from completely falling apart, we got 2013's Castle.

@@OurToyWorldfantasy era is the best castle theme yet. The overall worldbuilding, unique buildings, figures and devices were just too good to pass on. There was also a set for almost every price category which each had their charm and could appeal to almost every castle fan in some way.

I don't disagree there. Honestly, towards the end of LEGO Castle's initial run and in the early 2000s LEGO put out some weak Castle sets and figs. What were they doing with Knight's Kingdom 1? No, 2013 Castle isn't the worst Castle property (I think that title belongs to KK2)- I'm just disappointed that they released two of the best Castle properties to date right before, and then seemingly dropped the ball immediately after. I do like how Castle 2013 was a relatively inexpensive line though, but I think it would've performed better if it was released in 2015 or 2016, not right after Kingdoms wrapped up in 2012. Again, by that time Nexo Knights sets were hitting shelves, so was there ever a perfect time to release this theme? Probably not.

@@OurToyWorld KK1 had the Bull Knights which were a great faction with a unique approach, just a mercenary force with siege engines on the march, but the lion Knights they were fighting looked awful (same design as the 1995 ones just a few different colors) I have to defend KK2 if only for the Scorpion Knights, a villain faction in dark red was great, and it's a shame we never got another one. admittedly the first wave was pretty weak and most factions looked kinda bad, but the second wave had great factions. The Unicorns were the first dark green faction and its a great color for Knights, the Snakes had Sand Blue and Copper colors which are unique as well and the Yellow dragons (while they looked naked lol) were a great generic force to armybuild with. The sets themself were weaker than in the years before but faction wise KK2 was good. I agree Lego should have released 2013 Castle a few years later and just skipped Nexo Knights all together. My guess is that 2013 Castle sold worse than Kingdoms and when nexo Knights didnt sell at all lego decided to abandon castle

@@filippoargonauti1488 overwatch is already over, avatar is probably over, Minecraft and Friends are GREAT ( friends is my favourite Lego theme currently running ) and I’m pretty sure city Stuntz is also ended I mean you say “endless” but there’s not actually that many theme to begin with Personally I only ones I agree with are city stuntz, Avatar, and Overwatch ( 2 of which are already dead ) I personally wouldn’t call Friends or Minecraft useless, M is charming and friends is lego city 10x times better!,

Anyway if lego cut some s...y theme they can make room for castle and Lotr
