Okay, I owe Steven Crowder an apology. I have CHANGED MY MIND, and I'm very sorry. In this video I said that Steven sang the Jekyll and Hyde song on Arthur, but that wasn't actually him. I saw a couple sources saying that song was him, and now that I've checked it a few other places, I've realized that episode actually aired before Steven started working on Arthur. Steven, I apologize for accusing you of playing the Brain in a cooler episode than the ones you actually did. I'm not taking it out of the video, though, because the whole "Mr Hyde rearing his ugly bisexual head" line is way too funny, and unlike Steven, I put humor above all. However, to be clear DID voice Brain in the failed comedian episode, so that's still ironic in its own way.

I'm deeply relieved that he wasn't the Brain in the musical episode, because that was my favorite episode as a kid and I must have rewatched it more than I have seen most movies throughout my life. It didn't sound like him at all and I'm glad to know I was right! I couldn't live with it if Chowder was involved in one of my favorite childhood memories ever.

More like you owe Luke Reid an apology! Crowder replaced Luke Reid in seasons 5 and 6. Imo, he was a terrible replacement. Luke Reid had "wise beyond his years" quality to his voice that fit the character perfectly and he was able to pronounce and articulate difficult language for his age. Crowder - couldn't. His voice always sounded too high pitched and childlike in contrast to Luke Reid's more mature, yet still childish voice. He stumbled over vocabulary the character was supposed to know and overall was not good casting for the character. He would've been better cast as George the moose whose voice is supposed to sound whiny.

I've met kids like him, and I really don't believe he was actually bullied. He reminds me of the kids who'd call other kids slurs, harass and threaten to kxll them. Only to then play the victim because one of the kids he abuses told him to fxck off. Genuinely, every person I've met who acts like Crowder IS actually the bully and just think that they're tragic and tormented souls because they can't verbally and or physically abuse someone without being called weird and annoying. I just heavily doubt that if he really was bullied, he'd go on to put people through the same trauma the bullys put him through. Also, there's like nothing to really bully him for anyway. It's really rare for someone like him to be the target of harassment instead of the much more common victims of bullying like disabled people, queer people, fat people, and people of colour. Sure, it is possible for him to have been bullied, but judging by everything he's done and stands for, it's quite unlikely.

What stands out to me in the clip with his wife is how condescending he is. He speaks to her exactly how my abusive dad spoke to me when I was a teenager. Everyone probably is rude or hurtful on occasion, but he clearly doesn’t see her as an equal from the way he’s speaking to her.

Notice that she shifted back away from him when he leaned forward in his seat? Speaking as someone who has been abused, that's the body language of a person who is intimidated, scared, and afraid they're about to be hit. The fact that the dog doesn't react to this at all is also probably a sign that this is and has been a normal occurrence in the household since it was a puppy (dogs who are *not* used to being in a hostile environment usually either retreat, exhibit defensive aggression ((hackles raised, mildly crouched, snarling/growling with teeth showing, ears leaned back, tail tensed and down, etc)) or they get between the people to protect their preferred human from the aggressor.)

One thing about Steven talking about unattractive woman saying they’ve been assaulted or raped. I was once assaulted and considered myself an unattractive person. The person who assaulted me is seen by many as attractive. Coming forward and saying something had happened was very hard for me because I was afraid people would think “oh this ugly girl thinks he was trying to make a move on her? She’s out of it” not only is being assaulted very shameful but when you have to come forward and talk about it the fear that no one will believe you is unbearable at times. Not for all but to me it felt like a power play by my abuser. He felt either one, I wanted it or two, if I told anyone no one would believe me. Thankfully I was believed but hearing Steven say shit like that gets my blood boiling.

I'm just so haunted by the video of him and his ex wife. How she tries and tries to be inhumanly calm and de-escalate the situation even though she's clearly upset just makes me sick. I know I would NEVER remain that calm if my significant other said any of that ridiculously unreasonable and hateful crap to me... and the reason I would never reamain that calm is because I am not afraid of my significant other. I am not afraid of the situation escalating because even in situations of heightened emotion, there is no danger to either of us... that definitely doesn't seem to be the case in this situation.

I dated a man who was very similar to Crowder. He was a fan. After seeing the stuff come out about Crowder's abuse towards his wife, it really blew my mind because the man I knew treated me in the exact same way. I think he's the type of person who deep down doesn't like himself and feels like he has to control and judge others to feel OK with where he is in life. I think he's very scared of a loss of control. It was hard to see the footage of him being emotionally abusive to his wife, because I've been there with that similar guy, but wow was it telling. I don't think his wife is a great person, given she married an open bigot, but no one deserves that kind of treatment, and I hope she's safe now, and can heal from it. Anyway, haven't watched the video yet but have been anticipating it since you mentioned it, so going in now! Love your work 🫶🏽💗

The whole set-up with Ethan and Sam stemmed from the fact that Steven had been ducking Sam for the longest time. They tried to do it once before but Steven noticed that Sam wasn't streaming and guessed that it was because he was going to pop on to Ethan's show, so Steven canceled. The next time - knowing that Steven was monitoring Sam's show - Sam pre-recorded his show and played it as if it was live. Once Steven saw that Sam was (apparently) live, he appeared on Ethan's show..where Sam was waiting for him :)

The car thing hit way too close to home. When my brother was married to his abusive, now - thankfully - ex wife, they only had his car between them (it was a cheap car he'd bought before they'd met), because she'd totaled two cars and he was the only one working. She insisted that she couldn't work because she was pregnant (even though this started before she was actually pregnant) and that he had to walk to work so she could have the car. Not for any specific reason, just in case she needed it. She wouldn't drive him to work or pick him up. He walked 2 miles to his job, worked on his feet for 8-10 hours, then walk home. She threw a serious fit when family and friends began giving him rides to and from work. It's about control.

The police brutality and death of George Floyd makes me so angry and the fact he “recreated it.” Police brutality is something I take so seriously. I have a brother who was tackled down by police and they shoved his face into the ground he couldn’t breathe so he bit the cop to get him off and later that was one of his charges assault on an officer although he did it to save his life. What happened to George Floyd is awful but a bigger conversation came from it that needed to be had because police brutality is a problem especially for people of color.

I think Hilary serves as a good reminder and warning for women who think that their bigoted boyfriend won’t also treat them badly. If you’re dating a man who is openly racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. around you, that kind of behavior and thinking doesn’t end when you enter the picture. My dad was a narcissistic alcoholic. He was caught with CP and went to jail for 5 years (he's out now.) There's a reason that beating your wife crosses the line. It's why the men doing it do it behind closed doors, and then spend the rest of their time controlling that it doesn't get out. My Dad beat his kids and wife. And when other people in federal, TEXAS jail found out what my dad bought with his credit card while drunk in Mexico, they cornered him and beat the shit out of him. When my Dad was caught and we knew he was going to do time, he said it was my mother's fault. She'd survived cancer with a double mastectomy, and boy, you know, losing those boobs just DROVE my Dad to CP. So it was really her fault. There's always a woman to blame. And Crowder does the exact same thing. He believes, thoroughly, in his right to treat his wife like shit, hit her if she disobeys, and he'll hit his kids, too most likely. The time my dad beat us as siblings the most was when we were the youngest. He threw my fourth grade brother against a wall and punched him. And Crowder as just as indignant as my Dad was, that somehow his mistake is not his fault or his responsibility. VERY triggering. But the white male power structure is a thing, I saw the worst of it growing up in a microcosm, and I see it everywhere now in politicians. Our leadership is poisonous levels of toxic white male syndrome. It's good to see Crowder got his comeuppance so soon, instead of a 40 year marriage like my Mom and Dad. Crowder's wife spared herself and her kids a lot of grief, and that is the way it fucking should be.

I think, with the genre of "debate bro" types poisoning the political climate, it's important to know that there's a type of person who does not engage authentically with their own beliefs or others' beliefs. For instance, I had a former friend who once got in a terribly uncivil argument with one of our mutual friends about the lost city of Atlantis. My former friend called our mutual friend stupid to his face and used really demeaning, abusive language. I was shocked. At the end of the argument, my former friend admitted that he didn't care about the topic, he was just trying to win the argument. I will never forget the way I felt when he said that because of how sincerely he has been trying to convince both of us, even though our mutual friend was just having a speculative conversation and I wasn't really participating. And, more importantly, it shocked me how rude he'd been to our friend, just to win an argument he admitted to not caring about. It was a learning experience and made me very wary of these debate types who never seem to change their minds. It's tempting to want to go in with facts and logic, but sometimes you have to know in advance that a "debate" isn't with having.

He would resort to some really dishonest tactics when debating me about stuff -- usually economics or political theory. Basically, I was the sucker for assuming he actually believed what came out of his mouth. Whereas I actually did research, and spent alot of time considering my own positions, he would spit out whatever sounded good to him, and then he'd make up whatever else he needed in order to further defend his belief du jour. In the end, I would be mentally exhauated because I was burning more mental calories thinking about what he said than HE ever did. And mind you, this was supposed to be friendly discussion, and we were austensibly trying to discover TRUTH. I realize now that this should have been a red flag. It was indicative of some very LOUSY personality traits that would reveal themselves later, under different circumstances.

Just for a little more back story on the Crowder V. Seder debate. One was scheduled at the political event and Steve backed out. He has ALWAYS ONLY wanted an easy win in a debate, and he didn't even apologize to Sam. Sam walked around forever trying to find him for the debate, until Steven's "associate" (AKA his DAD) called the majority report saying there was an "emergency" that came up with Crowders VERY PREGNANT wife (same time as the video that came out FYI). And obviously he wasn't even there for the birth. He was avoiding Sam at all costs. Then, they set up a second debate and he did the same thing. Crowder started frantically monitoring Sam's podcast to make sure he was ON AIR so no debate could take place. That's when Ethan set up the debate between him and Crowder, and the majority report pre-recorded their show so Steven couldn't run again. Im thrilled Ethan did that, because even Crowders audience was beyond confused why Crowder refused to debate Sam at EVERY turn. If you're going to say someone is afraid to debate you, and that you should "never run from a debate" he should have absolutely debated Sam instead of running away like a little baby. That's the whole situation. Ethan rocked that... and showed Crowder as the coward that he is... IN FRONT of his own audience no less. Legendary

It's difficult to say that he's truly "done" given that these kinds of conservative pundants have always managed to fail upwards; they serve not as individuals but as tools for larger corporate interests, so the personality of the pundant doesn't matter as much as what they are will to say. That being said, these kinds of conmen rely on connections to ascend, and it seems like he's steadily burned bridge after bridge. Unless Fox News finds a use for him, I don't think he'll get a much bigger platform than he already has. Speaking as someone who has been abused, that's the body language of a person who is intimidated, scared, and afraid they're about to be hit, and him leaning forward in that situation was an intimidation tactic. I grew up extremely conservative, spent university sliding the center to the left; pretty much there now. I wouldn't be a person I am today If I couldn't change my mind. An example: I remember how I we spent so much time debating my roomate on gender being different from biological sex. We were both majoring languages(and our language has linguistical gender, every single noun including declination, verb conjugation...), so my Idea of the gender was extremely linguistic and she would quote Simone de Bouvoir, which just made me roll my eyes. Until a trans person was kind enough to educate me, be removing language and philosophy from the equatuion, and talking about their experience, suddenly all the pohilosophy made sense. The Alpa Male bros will actually cheer his harassment allegations as just pranks or something. By and large I think his fans will just pivot and find some new reason to find him acceptable because he tells them that their hateful, racist, misogynistic views are right and being told that you’re right is more addictive than heroin.

I was still puzzling out if attending a gay wedding counted as a sin or not. I would strut around thinking I was superior in every way to everyone else because I was wAiTiNg FoR mAwIgE. I said a lot of stupid crap like this over those four years. AND IT TURNED OUT I WAS ARO/ACE THE WHOLE DAMN TIME. Turns out that purity culture obfuscates a total lack of sexual interest nicely. There’s always one specific line in that footage showcasing Crowder’s abuse that really stands out for me, not because of what he says but how he says it: “that doesn’t work EITHER!” In the whiniest, most petulant and childish voice you could ever imagine. This man is an actual child, one who throws violent tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. Obviously this particular child is a lot more dangerous and manipulative, but I really hope that’s how he’s seen from now on.

His impersenation of an African American farmer is also not funny because the situation they were and still are in is truly tragic. The reason why half of government subsidies went to African American farmers was because it was found that lenders were discriminating against them by not giving them loans (which farmers absolutely need to keep their farm going as farming is a risky enterprise with small profit margins) despite white farmers(who recieved loans) presenting the same numbers on their finance statements as the African American farmers. African American farmers have lost their farms/their livelihoods due to this!

I’ve seen a lot of comments wondering how his wife remained calm in order to de-escalate the situation. I think I’d be arguing back but I think a factor here is that he trains in Brazilian jujitsu which he loves to show off on his show from time to time, even doing moves on employees for the camera. Also he’s much bigger than her so all that combined, it would end badly for her if he loses control

I’m Christian, gay and politically moderate, so I’m kind of a weird amalgamation of talking points haha. Life for me almost always has had some level of challenge, but being able to see every conversation from every side has made me realize that finding balance is truly key. I’m glad that his video where he was trying to do some damage control was able to actually shine more of his authentic self to his viewers. Truly, my heart goes to his ex wife and his children. I hate divorce for the damage it does, especially to children, but staying in an abusive relationship is obviously not the solution. Thanks for the very detailed and well organized video. Subscribed and interested in seeing more.

The abuses in the media industry. I watched a friend who was the visual effects supervisor for a very popular tv show at the time , call his assistant , Matt the slug , made him go score drugs for him or be fired and put up with endless humiliations and verbal abuse . I’ve witnessed sexual harassment , people being demeaned by the director in front of the entire crew and one production company I worked for got busted for cameras in their bathrooms . I try not to think about what I did while I’m their bathrooms . All of that AND rich kids willing to work for free to get their foot in the door while not rich kids have to demand actually being paid for their time competing against free labor . It’s a really tough industry for sure .

I say good on Ethan. Crowder bailed on a debate with Sam that was set up in good faith with no explanation. Him beating feet in fear when Sam surprised him perfectly demonstrated the truth - that he knows he can't win in a battle of equals. Word is his father (who I think acts as his manager as well) called off the original appearance because he knew Sam would wipe the floor with his mean-spirited idiot manchild and that wouldn't be good for the brand.

That’s not how it happened. The debate that he bailed on _was_ technically set up between him and Ethan - but Ethan was planning on having Seder crash that original one, as well. Crowder bailed that first time because he figured out the ruse, so Seder and Ethan tried again but were more sneaky about it the second time. At no point did Crowder agree to a debate with Seder. In fact, that was the impetus behind the whole thing. Crowder had turned down or ignored requests to debate Seder for _years_ before this incident. But then Crowder went and challenged Ethan - who is not an experienced debater and has never positioned himself as one - presumably because he knew he’d be an easy target.
