We played the new Killer, "The Dredge" for a few games and these two matches were the most exciting out of them all. Enjoy! Watch live: / otzdarva Join our community: / discord Thumbnail 3D render by the lovely Ev3ntic: / ev3ntic
I don’t see anyone else mentioning it, but the fact that the doll skin’s weapon has a different cooldown animation bodes well for future skins feeling unique, on top of audio changes for killers
I haven't seen it yet but unique feeling skins are what makes me want to buy them. I don't care that much otherwise. Legion's expo skin or the less favourable Babushka skin for Huntress are a good start too.
I really wish it was available for Shards. Gonna have to wait for a sale, unless I become heavily addicted to Dredge, in which case $10 will be fine, lol.
Well, he's going to need to start it right now, because I already a saw huge backlash for this killer for being "too op" and the predictable devs will nerf it to the ground very soon
@@dondarii1638 oh fixing her would be easy. Tp gives 2 stacks, survivors can turn tvs on to remove 1 stack, playing a tape turns on the TV. She wouldn't be as mobile as Dredge but she would gain slow down as the game progresses and people need to start turning on tvs and using tapes but making it easier for you to move around. It also would give survivors an actual chance to get fully condemned because ill be honest, I often forget that the mechanic even exists because it never does anything.
@@ageneralsenseofconfusionan1268 honestly i am so surprised tapes don't turn on the tvs already, let alone the fact that they turn active Tvs off. Isnt the whole reason you lose the curse the fact that you are "Spreading the curse"? As in, spreading the curse by turning off the tvs that spread the curse? Condemend should also be permanent, it would force survivors not to ignore condemned and just insert the tape in 1 second once you are fully condemned. And make condemned actually do something before its maxed... Like make condemned survivors unable to hear the lullabies, and have condemned stacks passively build every 60 or 80 seconds even when no tvs are teleported to. After all, its "seven days", not "Seven times Sadako appears to you".
After seeing gameplay of this killer and seeing the changes that are gonna come with the 6th anniversary, Dbd has made me more excited than when i first started playing the game
@@jaco6971 what is your point supposed to be? Don't try and pretend BHVR has done anything so exciting in the past 6 years that nothing they add could be more exciting.
@@jer6579 there's no point, I'm just curious when he started Edit: I also think the announced changes, as well as the fact that they changed the nightfall of the dredge already, are boding well for the game's future, but I started playing since January (apart from a 100 hours in 2018/19)
@@jer6579 If someone who's played this game for one year says it versus someone who's played this game since the beginning, then the second person's statement has got a way stronger meaning, since they've got way more things they're commenting on with the exact same statement including their multiple years of experience vs one year of experience. Really nothing to get butthurt about, it's just the reality of how it is to comment on experiences. i could say "bungeejumping is the best thing ever". Now that statement has a way weaker meaning if you know that I've only ever been bungeejumping ONCE. As opposed to if I was a more frequent bungeejumper.
Not sure if this is intentional, but the Dredge seems to ALWAYS teleport to the locked locker in a stack. Say only one locker in a group of two is locked, the teleport prioritizes the locked locker. Meaning everything can be locked twice, technically. UPDATE: Locker *stacks*, or lockers right next to each other count as a single locker. So the lockers at the bottom of basement stairs count as a single locker, and it prioritizes the locked locker.
@@fluffybum204 Imagine knowing exactly which locker to teleport to and getting blue-balled. IMO it should just let you choose, if you get it wrong that's on you.
facing dredge was one of the best experience i have ever had in this game, I managed to avoid all dredge videos and I though I will shit my pants after nightfall came :)
@@bearded_grumby Naah. It's not that dark. Truth be told, I wish the maps were a bit darker. I hate it that they made some maps more brighter what they used to be.
Dredge is one of those killers that reminds me that this is a horror game, like Myers or Ghostface. I get scared every time he pops out of a locker like the Kool-aid man, and the darkness during night can be oppressive. 10/10 killer, punishes me for being a Head On/Flashbang clown.
I absolutely adore the dredges design, and how truly monstrous it looks. All of the other killers are humans (altered or no), or humanoids. The dredge is a breath of fresh air and brings out a different kind of design, and I love it. The only thing I personally would change, is make the entire body out of flesh and bone, amorphous pile of blood and gore, instead of black smoke. However, I also understand the animation challenges and modeling issues that come with that.
@@theydontmakeemliketheyused9995 the main building is the only bad thing it has 2 god windows but other then that the pallets are weak and the map has nothing on the edges of the map
Honestly, I think more of the stealth killers need a teleportation gimmick to them so they can do the horror movie thing of people take their eyes off of the killer and suddenly they're somewhere else completely.
I've thought for a while that Myers should have something like that. He would be able to revert back to tier 1 and in tier 1 he has a teleport mechanic
Kinda surprised we have yet to see a mechanic that gives non-mobility killers some kind of game compared to the big 2. Even something like "when out of chase, gain a speed boost" would help close the gap.
I actually love the Dredges design. Well thought out and actually interesting to look at. Its abilities are also quite interesting. When I watched the trailer I was actually excited the devs made a good killer for once (jk... but not really)
yeah they really went all out on the killer with that chapter just sad that its probably the most boring survivor there ever was but i wont complain. if the killer is that interesting its alot of fun playing him and against him wich is rare for most killers imo :D
@@ChaoZzBladex it’s a lot easier to make an interesting killer than a interesting survivor. Different survivors only provides different cosmetics really, so they can’t use gameplay to make a survivor interesting.
@@ChaoZzBladex I really think Haddie has interesting lore, she’s been brought up before in the lore and her design and backstory is really cool imo, I think she could become a fan favorite
@@benmelillo5119 good for the lore enjoyers i guess im not into that im just judging of the looks and the perks wich is both kinda boring to me :D but each to their own i would say.
@@BoHugh i would say their perks is what makes them unique just in a sense where you unlock them from ofc after you unlock them it doesnt matter but still i dont think any survivor would need a perk from her set :D
I drop a person near lockers, then hide in the locker. When someone tries to come rescue, I pop out. HIlarious. One time I dropped in at the end of basement, and the person came in and tried to lock the locker I was in, and I grabbed em too.
Imagine pairing the dredge with territorial imperative, agitation, make your choice and whatever else you want and just camp the basement with your power.
I find it interesting that otz was struggling to see scratch marks when using the power at the start. Im colour-blind (deuteranopia) and it didn't make a difference for me. I always struggle to see scratch marks so maybe when using the power it gives an example of how colour blind people might experience the game. (Also I know there's colour-blind modes now but they either make it worse or make no difference for me)
I just come back to DBD and i'm struggling so much to track survivors btw, scratch marks system seems to be not consistent at all nowadays. They are so scattered and hard to tell which direction survivors went, it's awful
@@mateusguimaraes2564 The perk predator tightens them up, but generally it is a huge rectangle so you just learn to see which general direction it goes.
I don't track the survivors using their scratch marks in nightfall. Since the survivors themselves often pop up like crazy. I just do a wide angle and there they are.
@@karimsonsafehold9233 That can help, thanks. But i hate wasting perk slot to fix something that could be a basic mechanic. I really hate how the marks are so screwed nowadays... It wasnt used to be like that, i just get so lost sometimes because of it and even the game audio is kinda broken too...
For the first time in about 3 years which was when I first started playing the game, I ACTUALLY got so scared of this killer in a match. The chase music , the locker cut offs, the nightfall. Everything about this killer is so exciting ! 🥵
Great video Otz. I think an interesting build/video idea would be using make a choice and territorial imperative on dredge along with another two perks that could improve the build. 😄
You can use the TP to chase outside of Nightfall provided you have Boat Keys. Boat Keys really speeds up the TP. I like using Boat Keys and Ottomarian Writings to have a fast TP with a speedier cooldown than usual, though the Lav Mic also seems like fun and has some helpful aura reading
When your using your teleport, remember to position your camera to face the 45 degree angle between the pallet and the direction you’re forcing them to move in. When you do this, and teleport back to your remnant, your camera will always go back to the same direction as when you went into your power.
this killer is definitely the most unique killer we've had in quite awhile. I was just a bit disappointed that we didn't get a licensed chapter for the anniversary but i think this killer makes up for that now. I hadn't played the killer yet but facing it as a survivor was an experience in itself. I hadn't had a major jumpscare in DbD in ages and i remember being in the second floor in the garden map (new map) and i hear him coming through the locker, i quickly walk around the room and right as i turn to my left, he was there and hits me. I had jumped and smacked my hands on my desk because i was playing with controller. I wasn't even mad, i friggin loved that experience because i had not had a moment that had me shout "holy crap" as i jump off my seat. Sure stealth killers can do it on occasion but your used to stealth killers. But something about being in near complete darkness is terrifying as hell. I have a feeling that overtime people are really gonna learn this killer and i easily see him being a good choice. I know i have a hard time dealing with a good Dredge killer.
I just had my first match against the dredge, avoiding all gameplay spoilers and oooh my god, talk about a horror movie experience! Definitely my most favourite killer to go against as survivor. When Nightfall comes around? Chills. Fantastic work on Behaviour's part and I hope to whatever eldritch entity brought us Dredge that we'll see more terrifying killers in the future.
Making a killer's mechanic to depend on survivor mechanics certainly will make the game feel like it has more variety now! Plus it seems like more people have been feeling the "horror" element of the game again since Dredge's arrival.
I've only seen pictures of the doll skin but that animation and the sounds make it even more creepy. Also the fact we have a weapon with different animations and sounds gives me hope for newer cosmetics (although we already had stuff that did that, but they're set-based). Dredge looks fun, might have to get my hands on them at some point
dredge feels to me like one of the most map reliant killers in the game. In the last two weeks i went from ash 3 to iri 1 almost entirely with dredge (had to do a bit of wesker to finish the last few games) but I noticed that dredge works best on BIG maps with LOTS of lockers like Haddonfield and Ormond, loses some power on smaller maps in the early game (due to survivors being able to lock more lockers faster) and obviously suffers most on large maps with not a lot of lockers. My worst games were on the new Knight map and on The Game, the former due to the map being so sparse and the latter because it was so hard to pick the right locker in an intense moment with so many grouped together
The difference between survivor and killer adept really is day and night(fall). I've gotten up to 7 survivor adepts in a row because when you're only objective is to escape it's really easy, but with killer the fact that you not only need a 4k, but you need a perfect game makes it so much harder, especially when using bad perks matters so much more for killers than it does for survivors.
Thanks for uploading. I at least wanted to see the game through its pov. I've made the mistake with the last few killers by playing against them completely blind to their abilities.
I’ve been taking a break since pinhead came out due to intense burnout with MMR and solo q survivor being awful, seeing this might bring me back. Great content as always Otz!
I feel your pain on survivors killing theirself on hook when going for adept. Had 4 games in a row where a survivor either dc or killed theirself on hook today doing adept
This killer is super fun! Love his kit and all the different combos/strats you can use. Otz here just showing off his mad skills and laughing the whole time XD
Seeing such an "unique" (it's just Onryo but better, I know) killer made me remember a killer idea I had the other day, it's based on a south-american/brazilian myth called "Curupira", the basic idea for his power would be that he would be able to jump up trees and from a tree to another if they were close enough, and then ambush survivors that passed under those trees. He would also be able to see through the crows (kind of like that perk, but better, and on a cooldown), also, he could have specific birds that he could put on top of loops and buildings and when survivors got close enough they would fly off and alert Curupira of their presence. I don't know what his perks could be, he's basically a nature spirit that gets angry if you kill too many animals or if you chop down the wrong trees (basically, if you endanger a species of animals, you get fucked), so maybe a perk that makes you faster/more powerful the more gens are done? A Hex perk? Maybe? He also confuses hunters by using his backwards feet to make impossible trails that don't make much sense, so maybe a perk to confuse survivors? But that would be basically knockout, so I really don't know. Maybe a new effect that scrambles two/three/all four of your movement keys in a clockwise fashion after you destroy a totem or finish a gen, so you can learn how to counter it, but it's kind of a scare in the first few seconds before you realize what's happening? Also, he def likes to destroy human stuff, so maybe a perk that makes you destroy pallets/walls/gens the more you kick them (up to a certain percentage, of course, maybe like, up to 30/40/50% or it's always up to 50% but the levels decrease the amount of things you have to destroy to get to that point, so like, 5/7,77/10%. No, he may not be balanced, or seem any good, but it's just a random idea I had which I thought would be cool to add since we don't have many "mythological creatures" in the game, and don't really have anything that's specifically south-american in the game
First day of release I played a bunch of games and no killer was dredge. Kinda forgot about him. Then me and my friend got on comms and queued up. I was on a Gen in killer shack, no terror radius, no nothing. Just by myself. Facing the lockers, which are a comforting thing to have nearby. Suddenly dredge loudly BURST out of the locker on my screen and I screamed loudly and ran out the back of the shack lmao. I have never been jump scared like that, definitely never scared that hard in this game before. When I told my friend on comms “he came out of the locker!!!!” She said Huh??? He came out the locker? I said YESHEBURSTOUTTHELOCKER!! Props to DBD this killer is very fun especially with no knowledge of his skills or anything.
I really didn’t think I’d like this killer, but honestly he’s so much fun. And you have so much utility to play with. You can use lockers to cut off survivors who get distance, you can use nightfall to do a stealth approach. And his pallet perk is exactly what killers needed.
Otz, correct me I I'm wrong, but I believe you were running Surveillance, Hex:Ruin, Jolt, and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance The reason why I am saying this, is because you have basically taught me to see the perks survivors and killers run in games, I only have trouble with the end game perks like NOED or NWO. I'd like to say thank you so much! And keep up the great work
sadly nobody needs to understand the new survivors perks because they will never see the light of day xd god that survivor is awefull im so happy that the killer is fun to go against otherwise as a survivor that chapter might aswell not exist
Returning player after a long time (I think the twins were new when I stopped playing and I only played pyramid head to level 11) so far I'm really enjoying the dredge, the last killer I really enjoyed was the one I mentioned before. Love the locker thing make's it super easy to have a presence throughout the map.
I feel like an addon for the dredge could be like, reduces the monochromatic-ness of the nightfall mode for killer? If that's not already an addon. It would prioritize either using that slot for a different addon, or being able to see the scratchmarks, blood, and survivors easier
The visual filter in night fall as actually a buff. since it makes survivors super visible. You just can't hide from Dredge during nightfall, since any part of you he can see will stand out like snow on tarmac.
@@screamingcactus1753 plus I'm pretty sure the stratch marks and killer instinct not being red is a bug (I know the killer instinct is as they listed that under known bugs)
I love his design, I love that people have fun playing him, but I haven't had a singular fun game against him. Like when Sadako came out, I was looking over my shoulder, being wary of random TVs, and screaming everytime I heard her use her ability. Even if I died, I would still be having fun. I know everyone might heckle me for this and call me bad, but he just really isn't fun to play against.
Dredge makes hiding more effective. Because you can't just run around and see half the map under Nightfall. Nor do you know if he is hiding in a locker or not.
I mean when I saw that he can teleport to lockers I knew it would be good but I didn’t realize it would be way faster of a teleport and exit than demogorons since there are more lockers
My only problem with the killer (and maybe it's my problem) I feel that the MORTAR AND PESTLE add-on should be basekit it helps so much to not be confused when you return to the remnant and the normal killer fov doesn't help as well
His adept was pretty tough to get for me! I don't know who at BHVR thought it was a good idea to give the dude who doesn't have a terror radius half the time 2 perks that rely on terror radius 😅
Fifth time? It took me eleven games to get adept. But I challenge myself by trying it at level 10 with whatever tier of the base Perks I got in that then go through Bloodwebs until I get another base Perk if I don't get it. I still only had all three at T2 when I finally got Adept, on a game I was sure I wouldn't get it on as is normally the case. Was the Haddie in the first game also trying for Adept though? That's what i want to know. If she was I understand her not going for the save and just waiting by the door. Oh, second game is not an Adept game. Meh. Alright, I'll watch it... . Thanks for the video Otz. P.S. Ban Dead Hard.
1 minute for first hook, 3 minutes and 20 seconds to first gen repaired. In southamerica that's 3 gens for sure after first hook, and 4th gen at those 3 minutes
I’ve just thought… wouldn’t Iron maiden actually work on dredge? Regardless of how far away someone is you could always get some value from it as you can teleport straight to them. Then you could run Bbq to make them decide wether to be revealed or potentially be one shot
Haven't played him yet but he seems very strong. Overall not OP but I think his powers need some fairness tweaks. Holding teleport forever and leaving your remnant behind is a fun strat but I think there are some unwinnable situations that make counterplay hard or impossible for survivors. I also don't think the survivors should be as bright as they are in nightfall. I like him a lot though and is going to be a fun killer for a while.
I just reinstalled dbd and had to face a dredge. Here I am back at the old training grounds because bro I had no clue what was happening that game. Talk about genuinely terrifying game lol. And on raccoon city station the map that got added right as I uninstalled. So a map that I'm completely lost in and a killer that can teleport to lockers talk about spooky.
