THE DUET THAT NEVER AGES!!! LIONEL RICHIE & DIANA ROSS - ENDLESS LOVE (REACTION) 

I don't think that people realize just how huge this song really was. It was number one for 10 straight weeks in a row from mid August 1981 until mid October 1981. "Endless Love" was Billboard's number two song of 1981 on the pop chart and it was only beaten by Kim Carne's "Bette Davis Eyes" which was number one. There was no internet or social media back then so this was a massive feat for the time. Another great romantic duet that I know you two would really like is "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love For You" by Peobo Bryson and Roberta Flack.

There's a reason this went #1 on all the charts. Lionel Richie is without a doubt the greatest love song writer of all time. He wrote for Diana & himself. Kenny Roger's & the Commodors, and, with Alabama.

The thing about Diana Ross is that the older she gets, the more gorgeous she is. Seriously, in the Supremes era, she was not what one would call gorgeous or stunning. But as she got older, into her 30s (37 when this was made), 40s, 50s, 60s, and now pushing 80..WOW!!!

Lionel Ritchie wrote this song for the (1981) movie "Endless Love." The film was directed by famous Italian director Franco Zeffirelli. When Lionel Ritchie was writing the song for the movie Mr. Zeffirelli asked of him to make sure the song is uplifting and to make it rise. He sure wrote a beautiful song with him and the great Diana Ross singing it here.

I was 19 when this song came out. It was my husband's and my love song. We played at our wedding and now he has gone to heaven-- I had it enscribed on our headstone with our engagement picture. It brings back so many memories. The song embraced our love {Mike and Carol} forever. I had it played at his funeral. It is a work of beauty just like our love life for 38 years until God took him away.

I have to say, it’s always educating for me to see younger people react to classic love songs like this, it’s like watching someone experience something from an older era gone by, and in this case , it’s the “love song era “that is sadly gone after the 90’s, so sad that sweet and emotional simple love songs like this are not popular with young music lovers. They do have older songs like this to enjoy, but they have truly missed out on an era where a love song was a part of life culture , where people slow danced , day dreamed , crush on someone, met someone, romanced , fell in love, got engaged and married , even got heartbroken or divorced to these love songs. An era where all artist, even the hard rockers did love songs ( like “ Beth” by Kiss) or even rappers did love songs( “ I Need Love” by LL Cool J), it’s just so sad to me that love songs are not a part of todays culture( not even in the last 20 years!), wow, so glad I was young and experienced love songs in all genres as they happened , from the 60’s to the 90’s.

This song was playing so much the summer of 81. My baby was in the NICU, and I was driving back and forth to the hospital. This song reminds me so much of her. All grown up now, with kiddos of her own.

I was a teenager then- we ALL fell in love to the big songs like this and ‘Open Arms’ and ‘Faithfully’.. The proms and the homecoming dances- we thought every next guy was THE amazing endless live we heard in the songs. Beautiful music. But reality was never the song- lol! Lionel Ritchie actually sang another version of this song with Shania Twain. He was actually helping her come back from losing her voice to Lyme Disease. One day you need to watch Diana Ross in Central Park New York where she had a concert starting with a sunny day then turning quickly to rain and wind with and she did everything in her power to continue but she knew it couldn't go on with lighting etc. ❤😢
