Based on some questions from my previous video, I had the chance to do it AGAIN and show, front to back, how to do this. Hope you enjoy the front to back detail of this video.
This was the perfect Video to fix this!!! It saved me $145.00, which was the price for a new switch at the Auto parts store!! Easy to follow!! Thank you very much!!!
Thank you. I just watched the first one and had the same question then found this video. Thanks for taking the time to make the more detailed one. I have this issue with my Ford and this will be the first thing I try. It goes forward and not backward in my case, so I hope it's the same easy fix for my car. Thanks again! Very much appreciated.
Awesome video! This was exactly the problem with my 2001 Explorer. I watched the other video of this but I liked this one because you showed the disassembly of the switch! Your help is greatly appreciated!
Totally tried this on a neighbor's 2011 ford escape and it kind of worked for her switch. Just looks like the grove the ball rides in is too worn out. Can make it work if you press on the switch and slide forward and backward. Great video and made me look like a genius. Thanks
I love it! I had my son look @ our 2012 Ford Escape and he said it was prob the ball bearingBUT I don’t think he put as much effort in🙄Thank You so much for the step by step, maybe this 69 year old lady will have to do it herself😁✅
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! You mention Georgia in your video. As it turns out I am driving through Georgia and my seat just started acting up. Once I reach my destination hopefully I can fix it. Your video was a great step by step lesson. It is exactly what I needed. Thanks again!
Thank you for posting this and going into the details! I was able to take it apart and fix it! The only thing I did differently (which I know is a big part of fixing it) is I didn't go inside the switch... I just ordered a new switch off of Amazon.... which was only $22.... Look up "Power Seat Switch Assembly Compatible for Ford,Lincoln,Mercury,Replace for PSW5,SW7258". --- Installation was super easy, especially following your steps.
Excellent. 2017 Escape switch looks a little different as there are more switches, and you have to remove a larger panel to get to the switch, but same essential fix once you get to it. Recline would only go forward and not backward; hand stretching the spring worked a treat. Thanks for the great tips and video.
Thanks for the break down. I would have tried it on my own from your first video but then I saw this and I was like “oh that might be easier” lol. Really appreciate the help.😊
Thanks very much for the follow-up! I watched the first video, but was still a little apprehensive to take the switch assembly apart. Not any more thanks to your follow-up video!
I hope this is the issue with my ford fusion thank you in advanced for this demonstration you did really well and I understand the whole prosses thank you again.
Thanks for this video. My wife has a 2013 edge and her seat goes backwards but doesn't go forward. Sounds like this will do it.. I'm going to try this on Saturday. Fingers crossed. Thanks again!
Excellent video. Wife's F150 drivers seat would not move forward and she could hardly reach the peddles. I followed the video and took the switch apart and sprayed it with contact cleaner. Reassembled and it works great. Thank you!
Awesome video , thank you for sharing u even pinpointed to the people lacking common sense to be extra careful. Your method was spot on again thank you for sharing
Ok so mine just needed cleaning so thank God i did not have to get down to d nitty gritty of dat final part. But many thanks to you still mein.. life saviour
Just fixed mine - following all these steps didn’t seem to do the trick - the switch unit itself seemed to only work half the time when moving the seat forward. I cleaned the electronic bits extra well and then coated them in some electrical grease and that seems to have solved the problem. I also coated the connector in the grease. I believe it was a conductivity issue in my case, probably caused by a little bit of corrosion. Thank you for this video!
I have an issue with the additional seat recliner button on a 2013 Ford Kuga (Escape) sounds like your fix will be same for me as it works one way and not the other and now have a fully reclined seat which wont return to upright.
Any idea about a front passenger seat in a 2009 Ford Taurus all wheel drive Limited, so if you want to move the seat forward, (when you hit the the switch,) the left side of the seat, moves backwards, when you hit the switch backwards, the right side only goes so far, but the left side returns to its normal position.. it's almost as if something stuck in one side of the track or the other? Or is there two Motors in one could be shot?
After 3 years not being able to move my car seat back and forth this was it. Well...almost. I was amazed after taking it apart and manually moving the Lego looking switches in the back, the seat moved. I can't get the spring tension dialed in orb something. It doesn't work when snapped back together. Only apart. Crazy.
Mine was the same - I scraped some black discoloration off the electrical bits on the Lego looking part and then coated it in electrical grease and now it works! Hope that helps you.
Hi mate immense thanks in advance, currently have the same issue, however though I had swapped the button over with one of the another buttons seems the issue is still persistent, however with the housing the button works with an issue, really odd, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated:)!
Thank you so much! The dealer wanted 700.00 to do what you just did,so I refused to be held hostage by the dealer,so I ran across your video and was impressed.I think I can do this,I have to go get a T20. So this is my project.Did you put grease on the ball baring, spring or somewhere else? Please let me know!
The sad thing is that switch from Ford has jumped to something insane, ~$350(?) so don't be tooooo hard on them. That said, I just stretched the spring, and it was fine; no extra work (nor grease!) necessary.
queston-- did you try to first sray some lubricant into the button before taking all of that off? The spring could have been compressed inside from dirt & just needed some lubricant..
Only one that doesn’t work on my 2010 escape is the forward/backward switch? Other 2 work just fine. Took it apart like you did and tried it without the cover and same thing, other 2 worked but again the back/forward? Just need a whole new switch I’m thinking?
if you took that plastic cover off the switch (the black one that houses the bearing) and tried the switch bare, yea it might be the switch itself. Be very careful ordering replacements - I had bought one preemptively and it was the right switch... with a very wrong connector.
Okay so i watched the first one and now this one... Seems simple enough, my seat switch does the tilt's but not the front to rear, kinda hear/feel it want to ... Is this what you had before the repair?
no, it was just the front/rear action. All 3 directions have a bearing in them but just the middle (front/rear) has the spring. It might be worth taking off the cover on the switch itself and seeing if the switch is toast
Is the switch supposed to go forward and back, tilt up and tilt down and Up and down? Mine goes forward and back, tilt up and down, but doesn't go up and down. 2010 ford escape. Is it the switch?
this car was 6 position -- lift up/down, slide forward/back, tilt forward/back. If you have a power passenger seat, try swapping just to verify its not a wire or connector
Dang why do I always find the videos a week to late. I took my switch off last weekend but still haven't figured out what's wrong. The lumbar works but the other two switches for forward and backward and up and down don't work. Even tried a new switch and again on the lumbar worked. Tried without the cover still only one part working and it's clean as can be. If anyone knows what I'm missing let me know. I'm stumped.
Ok. I did it!!…. But it still doesn’t work. Forgive me if this is a dumb question but I just need to confirm. This means I need a whole new switch plate?
maybe. If the switch (with all the plastic off) wasn't moving the seat, its also possible its the seat motor or something in the track that's locked it up. If your passenger seat is also a power seat, you could grab the switch from over there and try it. That'll tell if 1, the switch is actually bad and 2, its not something else with the drivers seat. Make sense?
Check the fuse before buying a switch. Look in the owner's manual index in the back to see what pages the fuse information is located, then look through until you find the one for the power seats.
The sliding piece he’s holding @8:35 needs more room to travel left and right to engage the switch to the motor. It was probably mucked up with grime and taking it apart and cleaning it helped but the spring he references does nothing to accomplish this. I simply filed the left and right edges of the plastic sliding piece @8:35 a tiny bit to allow more travel. Reassemble and BAM! Done, works like a charm. Thanks for giving me the guts to take everything apart and check it out though! I have a 2016 with all the adjustments on the drivers seat for reference.
