Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it and happy holiday/ weekend to those that do not! This month has been one of the toughest of my life, but I'm grateful for so many of you in my life, keep being you ❤️
You produce great content no question, been watching for awhile and this recent video is no exception. I do think that while challenging, your niche is fan service by looking towards the longer past in Destiny instead of what is happening now content wise. Maybe I'm way off on this but it's why I tune in. Have a great holiday.
Lol asshole lol my friends did me the same cause I attempted it on my own and then thrall bounces said I couldn't get in with them manacles on... So when my fireteam got online they were like "join on us bro". Then my second team was like let's start gron the begining and it was at that moment I knew....I fucked up lmao
I was with a fireteam of super high level players, meanwhile I'm only 1300 light, and level 30 on the pass (I took a break) and I was the only one that figured out the traps.
That one line wilhelm says with “those stupid mos ultimas” is talking about a blue hand cannon, if I remember correctly. Very relatable, I hate getting blue drops too
Me and my friends played the dungeon blind, lest to say we died on every single trap. We genuinely never saw it coming. But it was just so funny all of us couldn’t stop laughing.
This dungeon’s story is one of the darker ones of Destiny. Mostly because, is highlights the more greedy mindset of some players that are “ever searching for that one god roll”.
@@judehernandez8959 the guy killed off his entire Fireteam out of greed but I gotta say they designed this dungeon well cause I still want to pick up the debuffs even knowing its debuffs
I want to point out that the traps were set by Wilhelm. When you die to them, it says you've been killed by Wilhelm-7. EDIT: Yes I know he says it later in the video but he mentions the Fallen make traps, made a segment in the script, and even made an entire timestamp named "The Traps of the Fallen" for it.
It wouldve been cool if when you did this with friends, after the final boss, the players gets a debuff called "grasp of avarice" and go at each other in PvP, where the winner gets one extra loot drop or something. Nothing major, but something competitive and fun after you've worked together in the dungeon.
6:24 they might have been thinking of Wilhelmina-1? They had similar names, and her name appears in the flavour text of one of the DSC weapons, hence the connection to Clovis.
I honestly kinda want Bungie to do another Dungeon like this eventually called Cayde's Last Stash to flesh out the rest of his story and a return to the Cayde's Stash mission but we climb up to the top.
Evan, first off great video! Second thing, the water in the boss room is an omage to the Halo series where majority of the maps in multiplayer where in water or beach areas, you die in small puddles of water
Definitely not one of my favorites mechanics wise, but the first run is super hilarious dying to all of those traps and the story is funny too. Usually the story takes a pretty serious approach, but this one was goofy.
@@youdontknow9954 Idk man, I kinda want the people who make my favourite game to get a paycheque. Like I don’t really buy cosmetics, but if I can get a fun piece of content for a few dozen bucks, why not?
@@fyrusgrey5153 I agree I understand they shouldn't monetize everything, but actually content you can play I have no problem with, and cosmetics don't effect gameplay. Sometimes I feel like everybody wants the whole game to be free
Even on normal difficulty this guy is actually like a dark souls boss.Mostly because how big chungus like his health is and how he puts in a microwave that are his beams plus the adds don't help either
doing this dungeon blind on day one was a damn BLAST. i don't think i ever had that much fun in an activity while figuring out what to do. they knocked it out of the park with this one, for sure.
True, but Willa (Wilhelmina) Bray never became an Exo, many of Clovis's descendants didn't, Ana and Alton for example. Plus, y'know, Wilhelm's a guy and Willa's not
@@notjarek237 The point I was tryng to make is that they are not the same person, because if an Exo did, it wouldn't matter, since Willa never became an Exo
the trap room had my fireteam howling with laughter when we reached it as we couldnt believe how trolly it was , we then listened into one of our other fireteams going through it trying not to laugh our arses off when they reached it and had the fun begin for them
One thing to point out, the final boss room actually is Cayde’s old stash. The rocket behind the sepiks (and now Phryzhia) boss room fell down and we sparrow race through its remains. The fallen just repurposed the top of the ship after it fell.
I’m like 90% sure that isn’t the same boss room. Where did you see that said it was?? It has some differences in it and I doubt the fallen went in and changed a bunch of stuff.
@@ryansmukala7618 Cayde's stash was the top ball of the rocket behind the devils lair. That same rocket is the one that fell over and you race through on Sparrow. It's been reoutfitted by the fallen, but still the same room.
@@toalogan I know the Caydes stash mission. There are tons of exodus ships all around the cosmodrome. I really don’t think it’s the same ship. I think it’s a different one. Plus where you fight the ogre isn’t the same as the devils lair strike.
@@ryansmukala7618 it’s literally the devils lair boss room. We enter through the rocket pad side on the opposite end. The rocket was situated right back there. I think y’all need to go back and play those old missions.
Very fun fact: The giant crystal cave in this dungeon could of been inspired by an actual cave full of giant crystals in Mexico and it just as dangerous as this dungeon
This is honestly the most fun I’ve ever had in a dungeon. Me and my fire team love jumping into dungeons blind and figuring out the mechanics are selves and holy shit we had some fantastic laughs from all the traps and the sparrow section 🤣
Merry Christmas Evan and my brother and sister guardians. Godbless every awoken, exo, eliksni, and human alike. I hope you all stay safe and healthy going into the new year.
@@Goku_Black_76 uh Torobotlans? Is that how you would say it? Because Cabal isn't the race, but more the conglomerate of forces. (I forgot we were allied with the thicc bois gonna be honest my bad)
WOW, idk how but evanf before brought us at least 1 vid per month, but now, WOW 4 long videos in one month (im not counting the stream highlights), pls appreciate and support this type of content
When reaching the final boss for the first time with my friends, I remember telling them to follow video game logic and avoid the water. Can you blame me? Most players have been hard wired to do so as merely looking at it may just kill you. You can probably guess what happened.
Despite it being quite difficult on day 1 without know what to really do, it was also the funniest time I've ever had in D2 with me and a friend questioning everything and then baiting our other friends in to traps. So much fun!
A little tip for farming: just get a checkpoint for the final boss and farm that instead of the whole dungeon It drops everything and the boss is quick
I occasionally check in with this channel to see how the community is doing, while I don't play the game or plan to come back, I love how the community is so hyped about it.
How I see the last boss room, if you pay attention you'll notice that the two platforms on the sides are sunken boats, the middle grassy area is an island and the boss area is his main galleon, the shank is his parrot and the vandal is his first mate, the whole encounter is a sea battle hence the reason why falling in the water kills you, you have to battle the pirate captain using cannons against his galleon to sink him and have the treasure he stole :)
So as someone who initially did this dungeon solo, this is something interesting I noticed while playing through with a full fireteam: I'm not sure if it was intentional or pure coincidence, but the more people you bring into Grasp of Avarice, the more you have to worry about the stat resets from collecting 10 engrams. Who gets them, who needs their abilities resets the most, who's super is the most valuable, etc. For most players on their first run through, you either have to fight each other or strategize about who collects what and make sure that everyone has what they need for fights, because if one person grabs all the engrams it can leave their teammates high and dry. I think it's a really smart (even if unintentional) way to play into the theme of the whole dungeon.
This is currently my favorite dungeon and number 1 achievement to me personally. My friend and I went in blind and we beat it day one and then after I did a solo clear 1
For the last boss part, i find funny that when you use the scorch on the generator, if you take the time to look around you see it will do like the hammer game in attraction park where you have to swing a hammer on a plate so a metal cylinder can ding the bell
Soon as I saw the title to this vid and what the dungeon was about I INSTANTLY thought of The Goonies, plus we just watched it the other day for IDK the 100th time in my 43yrs alive so far, NEVER gets old 😎
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who to call the shank Rambo. Love the actual pirate theme, but I still find myself calling him Rambo from time to time. Also, I managed to get Gjallarhorn from my first Legendary engram IN the loot cave back in D1. It was hilarious because it was still when no one knew how big it would become.
You didn't mention Bungie changed the archetype of Matador. It was an aggressive in D1 and now it's a precision. Also perpetual motion is a great perk and is almost as good as quickdraw.
"Doesn't stomp you if you stand at the crystal", yeah that isn't always true. Sometimes he'll push right up on top of it and stomp everybody off backwards into the pit. It's only happened to me twice I think but it does happen.
i was with my friend in the day 1experience, and despite me being first to see for ant traps he always fell for them, and ive only fell for one of them, that being the pressure plate in the shadows
It took me until now to realize Wilhelm-3 was talking about greedy cryptarchs because of that bug in D1 that made legendaries turn into blues and greens.
Wilhelm-7 is one of the researchers who worked on Europa and I think his name is mentioned in relation to the lament story and on one of the raid weapons, I think the shotgun
