The Early AP-M Trick For Tarkov Shooter 3!

Today we’re looking at Tarkov Shooter Part 3, which I think is one of the most fun quests in Tarkov. Since this quest line was opened out to all bolt actions, we’ve been able to use the VPO-215 with AP-M ammo to complete it, however in 12.12.30 the entire series has been moved back super early in the progression!
This means that we can complete it very early, but it also means that it is much harder to get a hold of .366 AP-M. Fortunately, there is a way to get some at the start which is by completing Gunsmith 1 for Mechanic, which allows you to get 20 which is potentially enough to finish the quest!

Anyone else think the new single shot should be considered a bolt action in the categories and not a shotgun? Also I feel it’d be nice if they brought the price down it’s a fun gun to mess around and rat with but it’s kinda expensive compared to a double barrel or something like that.

@@alexmaurice4274 yes, technically they arent rifles as they are smoothbore from my understanding. Only a fraction of the barrel is rifled at the end.

.366 AP-M is the unsung hero of bolt action rifles, it's accurate enough out to 100m or so, hits like a truck and is relatively cheap to craft or buy, absolutely love the rifle and the ammo. Great video as usual.

Fun fact the new MP-18 counts as both a bolt action and a shotgun so it can be used for quests that require bolt action or shotgun kills.

@@Squee7e I am prity sure it does. Though I think you need to use slugs as compensation for that mess I think I got a point last wipe by accident using 6b Polevia slugs cause I face tapped 2 people on woods before being torn up with ADAR and grenades

Just a quick tip!! Always check scavs that you kill in raid that are using the VPO 209…. I have a fair chunk of AP loaded up from them! It’s normally 3-4 - 10round mags! 👌 same with ADAR scavs, a lot of them have MA55A1 and MA56A1…. Always check and stock up!

Nice video, I've also been really liking .366 in general last wipe, even FMJ, because if you're a decent shot and you use the vpo209 (cheaper ammo, easier to just throw it out there) with the 10 round mags, it kinda becomes like a DMR and since nobody likes .366 you'll always get it back from insurance, the gimmick is kinda leg and headshot meta, because most faceshields are lvl 3 or lower, which fmj can still reliably pen, while being able to 1-shot PMCs if you are a rat like me and let them run by, then shoot then in the unarmored sides and back. I usually put EKO as the first round in the mag for chambering and then just have there rest of the mag with FMJ, cheap, effective and fun but late wipe when you're crafting your own APM the vpo209 with 30 round mags becomes such a beast, kind of like a contender to the m1a.

366 FMJ is also good because there are many naked pistol runners and FMJ can one tap thorax still if they don’t have armor.

Yes dude!! If you genuinely enjoyed this you need to try this again but with a holosun sight with the green laser on. It’s just as good - just don’t need to ads all the time. Those close range fights would have been a lot easier. Try it out if you have the time

@@Gigabeef ohhh good call! I’m used to this task line being later on so flea and trader levels are probably up to specs by then. I will say I am level 14 with 24k to go for flea, and Tarkov shooter 1 is almost complete, that and Tarkov shooter 2 each give over 12k. So I’ll have flea by the time I get to part 3, and will spend the money on that if I have to. The VPO is so cheap so it probably isn’t bad

Thanks Giga. I tried yesterday and did it in one raid. A hatchling who got onetapped and two chads one with trooper and one with a tier 5 rig. That was loads of fun. This is the best wipe I've ever had. Over 75% SR and a KD over 10, mostly solo.

tarkov shooter line is my favorite part of tarkov. i find being forced to use bolties, which i suck at, to be so much fun.

Well done! That gun and AP ammo is a rock solid kit. I use it for a bunch of sniping quests as well. You can get the suppressor from Skier, I think, pretty early on.

This is from my personal testing/observations: You need about 15 pen over class to get to 0% damage mitigation. Damage reduction is roughly 20% when pen = armor class, and drastically ramps up as penetration falls. When pen is 5 less than class, it's -30%. This is why the old 7.62x54R PS could 1-tap through class 3, but AP-M could not. The 3 lower pen, but higher damage, incurs enough damage reduction to prevent 1-taps against level 3, barring fragmentation.

good trick to just use one round per mag to conserve the supply and to use a secondary weapon for scavs. Can't wait to try this.

I tried doing this for several raids with APM, got nothing. Using the FMJ rounds was what worked for me somehow!

Haha I've never had such a bad time doing these factory tasks before, legit went from a 85% survival rate with 10+k/d to 50% and 3. Absolute shocker of a time, and the whole way I was wishing I hadn't used all my ap20 up previously.

I used geska since it one taps thorax unarmored opponents. I did this on factory and got all 3 kills one raid

Geksa is completely underrated by the community. I sometimes use it in a 209 and aim for the legs. Once I hit they can't run anymore which makes the 4 remaining follow up shots into the legs quite easy. Even if they take painkillers and start running after the 3rd hit they get so much damage that they'll die anyways. Blacked legs + heavy bleeding while running is no joke 😆

Not sure if it was luck or whatever, but i did about 5-10 runs with the mosin and PS ammo and died without a single kill, used the vpo with ap-m and got two kills in my first run, thanks so much i was going insane

So I took your tip of using the vpo for Tarkov shooter 1 I'm about 1/2 way through 2 ATM tho use the FMJ for scabs they have little armor and if they do its likely not lvl 4 I did better once I swapped to FMJ over EKO for killing scavs

Nice I used eko but I usually shoot them at a decent range on woods at scav house! The extra speed and pen helps there if they have class 4 and the zeroing works properly haha

@@Gigabeef got it done - 6 kills in the first raid plus a pair of juicers. 7 more raids to get the last two lol. Now I've done 4/5 sniper scavs. One more and it's on to shooter 7. Never gotten this deep into this quest line in the last two wipes. Love your vids. Keep up the good work

It's well worth noting that now the "Default Ammo" for the VPO is EKO. Trying to snipe with FMJ is impossible almost. Of course, this video isn't about sniping, but still lol

FMJ is good enough for Tarkov Shooter pt 1. At least for me the irons stay accurate enough with FMJ to hit the throax out to 100m or so, but I wouldn't try anything much further than that.

Maybe this will be my first wipe where I actually complete TS 3. It always looks so juicy because of all the easy Jaeger rep in TS 4-7 but it seems so daunting to get over this part

For me AP-M is weird this wipe. I had to put 12 into a scav to kill it, very close range and heard grunt on each hit.

I did this yesterday and it feels like the round got nerfed a bit, I hit a guy for exactly 85 with no damage absorbed by amour at point blank. It seems like its been nerfed to 85 damage so any amour absorb means it won't one shot. This frustrated me a lot before i figured this out.

If you one shot him in the Thorax you will only deal 85 damage because it killed him, same as if you would go into a raid and just headshot a guy it will show you that you dealt 35 damage at the end raid screen, no matter what round you used.

Got killet by another Streamer in factory doing this, cant manege to spray 3 mp5 pst mags into him because of good movement, armor and Cover . So he just 2 shot mein torso :( Will try this now myself :)

EDIT * Sorry saw the words Tarkov shooter and got triggered instantly thinking of 3 kills in a single woods raid-* This is one of my absolute least favorite quests. It is far to RNG dependent, no matter what weapon you bring. I've had one wipe in which I got this task done on the 2nd try. Then next two wipes after that took me almost a week of constant woods raids to find 3 PMC's together to kill in a single raid.

@@rettaine4562 There is no guarantee you will see 3 PMC's in a single raid. You are counting on randomness to find the encounters. You run to scav house- their at lumber- you run to lumber their at fob...etc...You sit in one spot and try to camp it and never see a soul. Hours of life wasted to complete an RNG quest is annoying. Not to mention that quest is typically later in wipe when woods is dead.

Yeah AP doesn't one tap anymore in the thorax, my 1st raid I hit a dude wearing level 2 armor 3 times in the thorax with AP and he survived, second raid I hit a naked twice in the thorax with AP and he also lived only taking 80 damage...

Tried that before I saw this video. Went in with Class 4 and Helmet. My shots hit but never the thorax, even if I stand right in front of the other PMC and aim between the shoulders… That‘s what bugs me the most with Tarkov, that absolutely inaccurate hitting of the upper body (except the head)… Instead of a thorax hit it is registered as an arm or stomach hit way to often (if not even a complete miss). On the other hand I get destroyed by 9x19mm Pst by pistol guys or 5.45x39mm PS with just 2 hits to the body… So frustrating! 😩

I came late to the wipe and man, I am struggling to get this quest done. Get clapped by sweaty boys on Factory. I think I have a ratio of 1 in 5 that I get a kill. Usually a naked pistol boy. 2/3.

I just camped exit on factory with FMJ, was done in 4 raids. Performance depends on spawn but works like a charm when you are completely broke and under level 15.

I find 366ap to not one tap the torso through level 4, so i find myself just using m80 with guns with less recoil

I think I heard someone on RU-vid saying there is anywhere from a 12%-16% reduction in damage from a round once it penetrates armour.

Just use it in order to kill pmcs and gain better gear. Not using good equipment is a downward spiral you don't want to get into. I get when people don't want to spend much money but if you have good equipment, you should use it.

Always the vpo. My best raids this wipe have been naked with a pistol or naked with a vpo. Im not trying to rat run, i just dont have armour. And ive been slaying.... Sept for FUCKING SCAVS OH MY LORD THE SCAVS. That and deadeye has the ability to fucking telaport around corners >:(

@@VioletPrism yeah, i dont mind scavs fucking you when you run out of position and they start lasering you cuz you forgot to check your vectors, but magically seeing you through glass 150 meters away and then start lasering you? Thats fuckin stupid >:(. I dont engage scavs at range anymore. Had to many 140 meter scavs eating my arms

i dont know if its the round or the game just not registering my shots but 366 is not doing anything for me, scavs are taking 8+ shots to the body and 2+ to the head. this wipe is getting really annoying for me trying to shoot anything.

ap-m this early imo is kinda overkill i use fmj because of its dmge and most pmc wouldnt be running class 4 for factory lets be real here t3-t4 is usually saved for maps like customs or woods not factory because they will get shit on by a shotgun rat with a saiga

I've been running FMJ in a VPO-209 366 TKM with a suppressor unlocked at lvl 1 traders almost the entire wipe. It will one tap people without armor and if you hit body it causes heavy and light bleeds so it puts them into panic mode. My survival is at 90% so far with a K/D of 24.5. High pen ammo is a waste in early wipe. Total cost for the gun build is around 60k and ammo is like 45 ruples per round. I'm on my 3rd gun not because I've died and lost them. Only because once I get around 90% durability I spend another 32k and buy a new gun and swap all the parts over.
