Wonder if you drank the 2 cups of water, wait a couple hours and drink another 2 cups….would you get the boost the second time 🤔 Could you keep it up, every couple hours until time to eat/take supplement? 🤔
Cold showers are great if you live in an area with hot weather. The problem is when it's not hot cold showers are uncomfortable. When I spent time in Florida I always had cold showers because it felt good after being out in the heat all day.
I just want to mention - I really like Becky and can listen to what she has to say all day long. But Keith adds something that is extremely helpful which has to do with how he explains things, or the examples he gives. Becky is wonderful; but both of you together, are powerful. Stay with us Keith - you are needed. And I think this mission is just beginning.
I’ve been drinking cold water first thing for years because I’m always thirsty when I first wake up. I always felt that it was the cold that was jump starting my wakening. Never considered that there was an actual metabolic effect, but it makes perfect sense from an equilibrium perspective. I’m a scientist (retired) and I find this sort of information fascinating. Thanks for the continued excellent content.
I drink lots of room temp water filtered through a berkey with fluoride filters. I wouldn’t drink directly from the tap anymore. My city water is full of fluoride and chlorine.
There has been new controversy on the concerns of fluoride as a neurotoxin with adverse cognitive and endocrine outcomes. More research and studies need to be done. We have fluoride in water , toothpaste, mouthwash and also treatments on children’s teeth. Somewhat over done!
@@gloriasaliba3395look into the research about floride 😮 also you can use fluoride toothpaste if you want . I don’t want it on my teeth and certainly don’t want to injest it . Berkey filters are great
I also have hypothyroidism, my dr told me to take my thyroid medication first thing every morning with 2 cups of plain room temperature water, 20 minutes later I can drink coffee or eat. I have done this for 30 years.
@@kimmollenkopf718that’s interesting .. I was told to take it in an empty stomach last thing at night as the body does its regeneration while you are sleeping 🤷♀️ so now don’t know what to believe 😕
Do not drink tap water with thyroid issues. The chlorine & fluoride cause the thyroid issues & problems. Always drink filtered water & your energy will be great all day (this is in regards to having Hashimotos)
Love watching how Dr Becky looks at acknowledges what Dr Keith has to say - love ❤personified - I’ve been drinking 500-750ml tap water upon waking before my morning coffee - I’m down 24 kilos in 2 years no strict dieting other than TRE 12-16 hours per day and limited processed carbs sugar
Hooray! Love the two of you together. I understand Dr. Keith not wanting to mess up his metabolism with any more "experiments" but it's fun to have him with you discussing a subject. This was very interesting! I'm going to try it.
My doctor didn't tell me how to take my thyroid pill, except "before breakfast ". But I would drink 32 oz of water and eat a meal with some supplements including minerals right afterwards. I was probably flushing out with water or chelating it with the minerals. I did my own research because the pill wasn't working. So now I take it on an empty stomach and wait 2 hours. I I do it at 5am, I can now strategize to take the 2 cups of water by 7am. 😊👍
What pharmaceutical company is going to underwrite a study of the efficacy of drinking 500ml of H20 with their research $$$? What’s in it for them? Be THANKFUL that some nerds did it at all! We are the recipients of the FREE hack! : )
What does this actually mean for weight loss? 25% increased metabolic rate for 60 minutes. This says to me I am picking up an extra 15 minutes of metabolism. So I am burning 24.25 hours of calories in 24 hours. Or am I missing something?
16 test subjects doesn't seem like a decent study tbh. I do wonder, how long did the boost last. How would it compare to a caffeine boost from 2 cups of tea or coffee?
Nice to know! I drink at least 8 ounces of tap water first thing in the morning just to rehydrate from the overnight. Additional benefits! Yes! Thank you!
I appreciate this information. You both are great at delivering valuable information. I started the morning water protocol. Maybe I missed something, how long should one wait after that 500ml of water to take supplements? I have read everything from seconds to 20 minutes. I usually take Tracminerals Megamag 400 1 dropper full, 188 mg potassium, Acetyl L Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid and 5 drops of Traceminerals Iodine solution first thing in the morning. Before going to the gym for a workout I take 5mg creating and another 5mg after my workout. I did a cool shower once so fart will be doing it more. Thanks again for a super fantastic video.
Dr Becky- I wasn’t aware of your other RU-vid channel “ 2 Fit Docs” where your hubby talked about his illness a few years back. He’s looking great ! Praise God & God bless and keep you both❤
Is it even possible to lose weight with hypothyroid? Lost 16 lbs. with 16:8 intermittent fasting, hit a plateau, got dehydrated and gained most of it back. Still doing 16:8 and feel better though.
Could you clarify what plain water is? I know that sounds stupid. But I stopped drinking tap water a couple of years ago because of the flouride and its effect on my thyroid. I drink plain bottled water. Would that work the same way as water from the tap?
❤love this but I have a question😮!!? How soon after the 2 cups of water should I take my thyroid tablet - which is supposed to be 20/30 mins before breakfast or coffee right?? Thanks - love the fact you often support your info with Data.
Hey Keith! Great seeing you again. Looking fantastic. Love the video and I will start this stategy tomorrow. FYI, my husband is now going through something very similar to the challenge you had a couple of years ago. You are inspiring and I am praying he has great results like you seem to have. All the best to you both. Keep up the great work.
How long do you have to (need to) wait between drinking the water and eating? I wasn't sure if your comment about waiting an hour before consuming supplements also included food.
Thanks for this! Interesting and helpful! I'm always drinking water, especially first thing in the morning. I usually have a few grains sea salt under tongue as well. Would that interfer? Thanks!
Would be interesting to hear about combining this with apple cider vinegar. I take a tablespoon of ACV in the morning at the recommendation of Dr. Fung.
distilled water would even have a greater tonicity imbalance. I'm guessing the energy expenditure is due to the use of active transport of electrolytes going against the electrochemical gradient not simply osmotic diffusion. If we simply drank the same amount of water over the day instead of in 5 min active transport would not be used as extensively.
