Hi Valery. Washing mussels is different. Mussels don't have mud in them as they don't live in mud. However, they have 'beard' on their shells. So you just need to pull off all the beard before you wash them. No soaking is required. Hope this helps!

Hi chef Roland, i have a large batch of clams, like to wash them clean before freezing them to cook them in small portions in future. Is it ok to wash clean before freezing? Thanks!
@spicenpans
@spicenpans 2 года назад
Hihi. You can clean first but I would advise you to poach them for about 2 mins before freezing them. This is to get rid of the bacteria first. Hope this helps. Happy cooking!

If I bought the clams to be cooked only for dinner, do I soak it then whole time till ready for cooking or do I need to keep changing water every hour? Tks

Oysters without the shell.. I would wash it with salt and some water. A lot of dirt and slime would come out. Wash them until water turns clear

Thise clams are a hard shell clam. Theres hardly no sand in thise clams.. soft shell clams are the ones u have to let sit in water for them to spit the sand out. Not hard shell clams. If anyone gets soft shell clams I highly suggest putting them in water and mixing them in cornmeal. Put in fridge over night then rinse thoroughly with water. Then put ur ingredients in pot and steam the soft shell clams and just eat them when their done.. trust me. U will be thanking me later.. I know a lot about seafood
