He's spinning a record backwards on time with his hand blending one record out and still playing the record BACKWARDS while cueing and blending the next reccord with his other hand while still spinning the other record BACKWARDS with his hand flawlessly That's a DJ Instead of the crowd dancing theyre just jumping up and down Man yall need to leave those cell phones alone and let it rip and listen to the dj

Yes...he...does....!!! And he keeps that know-how a SECRET...lol...but he gave me at least ONE clue once,, years ago...i still don't know how he does that, though....lol.
its a 45 vinyl, its a lil bit easier to spin manually, but still hard :)) this is simply amazing ;))) cant believe, such a great timing, and make parallel a transition forward to next track
best set I've heard for a very long time. This guy is straight of 1983 no apologies. real raw and creative love the vocals and old school break beat mixing.. can't help it makes you move. absolutely brilliant set wish i was 18 again.
When I was 17 I was locked up at a fire camp called camp Louis Roth in big Tujunga California a the head chef there was the Egyptian lover’s father Mr. Broussard ? He was so cool and very proud of his son.
I had the pleasure of meeting him and I was one of those freaks on the the dance floor. He just mesmerized me, and I was hooked! Baton Rouge La 1988. He is the real deal and a master at his craft.
It's damn near criminal there wasn't a huge break circle going on at this event, these cats have no idea, and to anyone into turntablism now talking smack about him not doing insane routines, Egyptian Lover represents the old school, back before a lot of the stuff Q-bert / Mix Master Mike / Flash / DXT / GWT /etc came up with all of those techniques for skratching and beat juggling / time traveling, seeing EL live is literally like traveling back in time to that exact period, and that's exactly how he brings it, rapping over a drum machine, and juggling old school (extending the sequences of a tune and selecting the sequence via juggling in different sections), this is literally how hip hop started before the advent of samplers, so for any haters out there, pay your respects, this cat is a literal legend in Electro music alone, know your history, peace.
He don't need a computer to match beats. These kids have it way too easy!I'm 57, roller skates in my trunk. To be front row center for the beginning of it all yall! I am stuck in this town, where no one had the level passion that's in my soul. I would get on a plane, tonight, if I could find my people! S.O.S
Listening to the Electro Groove show (?) on Radio 1 in the early 80s I heard this guy and his track Egypt Egypt and that introduced me to dance music. cannot believe he is still out there. THIS IS AWESOME. I wish I had known about this so I could have been there.
I first heard. Egyptian Lover on electro records circa 1985. didn't even realise he still played. Got loads of electro myself, respect the vinyl. Big love. Gobbie Robbie
Damn he got Old Skool with it! And that's how you show a young crowd what real DJ'ing was & should still be all about. Turntablism at it's finest. West Coast style!
Enorgullece ver que a los chicos nacidos en los 90s y 2000 les guste nuestra vieja escuela en musica de finales de siglo 20. Como digo la musica electronica como el freestyle y el House music es musica en estado criogenico...Es musica del futuro. Saludos.
If you got off a space ship n went to this boiler room set you would say hey what in the world are these humans doing with all those sounds vibrations woo woo bap bap electric kingdom Afrika bambatta soul sonic force ……. Take me to your leader Egyptian LOVER 🎉🎉
Nowadays it's great to see the DJ's get the credit they deserve but on the other hand I'd wish people would also dance and lose theirselves like you see in old videos...
Yes Egyptian Lover the pulse bass is awesome. I have double 12"vinyl extended club remixes of all Egyptian Lover's music it's fun to remix his music on my two Technics Dj turntables.
Yo Egyptian lover , that crowd is asleep.. Come on over to Hollywood home of the purple shield and home of the backyard party's. From reggaeton to house music we love it all !!!!!! That dance floor is dry brother
yes...30 years back in time...I think most of that people there couldn't remember😂😂 And for all the Guys who put the finger down: "Do it better" and try to understand the past
I have never seen freehand mixing by manually playing a track backward while mixing in another song (including putting the record and needle down) wow!!! 11:26
The first track is by planet patrol “rock at your own risk” the lyric version is “play at your own risk” 11.39 is by twilight 23 “electric kingdom” I will add more when I get more time
SINASHOW perhaps electro, but I’d call it break beats, rap, freestyle, or old school hip hop. Since electro is a newer way of referring to the same thing, & this covers many genres! I was growing up in NY during this genre, everyone was breakin’. Good times!
@@mulliganstew72 it was being called electro in 1983..... There was a whole bunch of compilation tapes with the word in the title. www.discogs.com/Various-Street-Sounds-Electro-1/release/21661
