I'm Brazilian and in just a couple of weeks we have presidential elections, I'm literally sending this to all my friends because it fits for us too! Also, amazingly well written
I'm glad I have self-important actors and celebrities telling me to vote! Before you wrote this awe inspiring song, I was too stupid or ignorant to go vote, but now I will!
I'm a minority and tbh it's a little bit offensive that people think we aren't capable of getting an ID. All my friends and relatives have IDs cause how else would we do so many things that IDs require like driving to work or putting money into the bank or writing a check or buying a home.
It's cool that you have never known poverty, but it impacts minorities disproportionately, and as a result when new restrictions on voting are put in place that require spending money (like IDs) then that also disproportionately impacts minorities.
@@RLanoueB an ID is by no means expensive, but if you think its a problem, than you should fight to make ID's free instead of fighting to be able to vote without identification.
@@RLanoueB you don't know that this person isn't impoverished, so don't automatically try to shut their input down by acting like you know everything about them.
Except in the 90's they understood fact from narrative and didn't have politics in mostly anything, also everything that was in the 90's would be offensive today according to the left
They inspired me to burn all my ids… and drivers liscense. When I vote I am gonna have no name or identity because that’s the best ways to defeats the fascisms! Heck yes bro
Yeah all we need in Minnesota is the last 4 digits of a social that they never run against any sort of official database. People could just register a thousand fake names, get it sent to a homeless shelter and vote for whoever they want by mail. You know...kind of like exactly what happened in 2020! Yay!
"minorities, the elderly, DISABLED, and the poor" While I do have something to say for the others. I wanna specifically talk about the disabled part. First of all, hi my name is Christian and I do have a disability. I literally registered when I was 18, IT WASN'T THAT HARD. Now while I do not have every disability under the sun, there is plenty of ways to work around it. Not saying more websites to help get information is hurtful, but don't act like every single person of each community is helpless. Yes, pun intended. The only thing stopping people with disabilities to vote is the egregious state sites that are made. Seriously, sometimes I don't understand how anyone can find stuff on some state websites.
I think that's kind of there point tbh. How it may be difficult to easily figure it out because of complex websites so visit "these" websites and it will make it easier
I'm disabled (High functioning Autism with PTSD and on Seizure meds) and I vote. However, I have worked with some disabled people who don't vote because they have difficulty reading and understanding what's on the ballot. And because they live in a state where mail-in voting is the primary outlet for voting, it would be hard to make a selection on their ballots and I know, you're thinking "just bubble something in!" It's not that that easy. Some of the people I used to work with couldn't write as well because of paralysis in their hands. Other alternatives to the paper ballots could be offered to make things more accessible to people with disabilities to be able to vote (that may mean using and I'm probably going to get a little controversial here, touch screens and electronics) but we need to move forward if we want this country to thrive.
Incredible that you came up with this for voter registration day! Thanks 🎉 Hopefully it inspires many new voters to register, study the candidates, and vote. 🇺🇸
Lol this cast obviously has an incredible left-leaning bias, but yes voting is very important. I don't need a stupid "celebrity" to tell me to do it, and neither should anyone else. God I'm so sick of celebrities telling people how to think. They must think their audience is so stupid and incapable. I mean, they're leftists so that kind of goes with the territory that they look down upon everyone lol
I still don't know how I feel about it because yes it might make it more secure but there might also be people that would find it difficult to actually secure an ID which is what these websites might help with
@@Schmeadeable Bolsonaro is involved in so many corruption scandals, made fun of 600thousand people that died because of covid, is always saying things against our democracy and is pro military dictatorship. He stopped investing in science researches. He's antivaxx, homophobic and misogynistic, is always using religion to say horrible, horrible things. In his government Amazonia suffered a giant devastation, and our economic crisis got so much worse. Please, let me know all the good things you read about him, because as a brazilian person I can assure you he's the devil himself.
I threw out my id, and went and voted as my pan gender pronoun. Young lil they! We voted twice!! Shhh don’t tell we gotta beat the fash! Heck yes love it!
@@WhatisReal11 sad thing is there's literally nothing stopping anyone from doing this in most states. Our election requirements are a joke compared to the rest of the civilized world.
this came in really clutch, my high school's having an election for student government Edit: If I offended you, I'm sorry, the comment was made to express that I found it ironic that this came out when I found out my school was doing a student election
So you only operate off what other people virtue signal to you? It came in clutch? Maybe use your own mind… and then maybe cringe will be more apparent to you. Please
@@WhatisReal11 The comment was supposed to be funny, I saw it ironic that my school was having student elections and then this video came up on my recommended, so I'm sorry if I ever offended you, I never meant to do so, the comment was for fun and it meant no harm...
Without ids for voting age doesn’t matter! Don’t you get it ! Its progress you can vote now as many times as you’d like with any restriction! Get rid of your ids and get eduacteds n stuffs!
@@thegaytay4327 I think the people spoke, but our work is far from over. Please know: our fight is not against fellow constituents but against the powers that be, some of whom seem to see the Constitution as optional. The midterms went better than expected, but this court has proven they won’t stop at Roe.
I am for pro-life (with some exceptions)… but conservative? Not so much. I think the LGBTQ+ community and minorities need a larger say in the current state of the US.
@@hyperswag506 You are not pro-life if you prioritize a bunch of cells with no brain over the life of a person who doesn't want to be pregnant. What you are is irrational. And you'd like to think of yourself as a good person, but you are not.
Thank you for including mention of how these laws make it harder for disabled people to vote. Even getting an absentee ballot is so much harder these days. As someone who is affected by this, you spreading the word is appreciated.
This is done… what is done? Hey look a wokie who cant use language properly and make an actual point. Shocking. Come on join us make sure you have no wallet or id though bc that’s for nazis
Hamilton the musical is just amazing. It was and still a very celebrated musical. But it progressed to actually do what it can do to help society in its own unique way. Beautiful.
I don't love the 1st half, but the 2nd half slaps. Important, vital information throughout. Thank you for lending visibility to the midterm elections, which are historically low turnout. Hopefully you've engaged some folks who haven't yet begun thinking about voting.
First a pole tax, Along came jerrymandering, then A signature was all that was required to vote. If that didn't match which was on record you could vote by provisional ballot, or someone verifying your id. Now IDs are required, what next. It isn't about the ID it's about the ease of obtaining one. Anything as an obstacle to vote.
I’m sorry but what’s wrong with voter ID? Isn’t it good that we know who is voting in our elections especially since there are a lot of people here that do not have the right to vote because they are not legal citizens.
How about staying out of politics and sticking to musicals. Where is the voting supression they are talking about? This is clearly directed at one political party , Im sure they do not want you to vote republican
Niiiiiiceeeee! I hope DeSantis runs for president and not Trump, I’d still vote for Trump but DeSantis would be perfect to bring this country together again.
Brasileiros, por favor, votem com sabedoria esse ano! Proteja a nossa democracia. Não deixe o lunático do atual presidente continuar liderando nosso país!
Not going to lie I generally don’t vote in presidential elections because: 1. The state I live in constantly votes against the party I vote therefore my vote doesn’t matter because of the Electoral College (not complaining I completely support the Electoral College system). 2. These past years I haven’t liked any of the big-party options. Last president I liked was Obama. I’ve been unhappy with both Trump and Biden. Then again they were both one of best options out of who was running (which is a pretty low bar based on the other big-party options).
Same. Definitely gonna write in for DeSantis though, we need a break from Trump. He was an effective president but too cocky, and he's all everyone has focused on for the past 7 years.
I never saw the value of voting before, but this song brought up so many great points that I never thought about before. Thank you for inspiring me. Trump 2024
There is so much more that unites us than separates us. Don't let things you have no control over take over your life. Vote on the real issues ... not because you hate orange man
Anyone who doesn't understand the message of this video... remember, things like literacy tests and poll taxes were a common tactic to discourage people from voting, specifically minorities. That it wasn't until the 70s that the ingenious peoples of Amercia could vote. That employers used to tell you who to vote for and would fire you for not voting as they wanted. This country is far from perfect, but we have some 200 years of examples of people fighting for their right to vote, sometimes against overwhelming odds. There are 4 amendments to the Constitution for this reason, so that no one can be denied their right to vote on the basis of race, sex, age, or income. We've come a long way, and we still have a ways to go. This all didn't happen overnight, it took time. We have to make the time to continue this democratic republics evolution and continuing existence.
Bruh. You need an ID to do literally anything in the US. That's not racism, it's just common sense. If you are a legal citizen with an ID, you can vote. Simple as.
@@desdar100 I think he meant it’s embarrassing how they wanna make people believe that voter ID is hard to get for minorities and that there’s so much voter suppression
@@christopherwetherspoon5844 they're kind of is though? Speaking of somebody from Texas, I can't tell you how many mental fences I have to cross just so I can get my family's voting
