U don't think the pipes matter I ride an HD Fatboy with shotgun pipes and idiots still cut me off. I think a lot of driver's feel that riders are just in their way and they own the road cause they commute in a battering ram

@@abbaby555 Exactly right. How much noise we make is irrelevant. It's up to us as good riders to watch out for idiots who don't care about us, rather than rely on our noise and expect drivers to hear/see us.

I have both a Zero FX and a DRZ400, and I've noticed absolutely no difference in how cars pay attention. What I have noticed is that pedestrians do not notice you as well in parking lots and busy streets.. but you can make alot fun out of this

The best way to be seen on a motorcycle is to have gear that makes you look as much like a cop as possible. This is based upon a study in California that I learned when I taught traffic school there. This was some years ago, but it makes sense. We are instinctively looking for cops when we drive. I am considering one of these bikes and I am currently looking into the best safety gear that makes me an almost cop.

Ha! Love this! The Vancouver Police Department actually has 2 of these bikes now, so maybe you’ll start to look more and more like them as police actually start riding these.

You can get an adapter plug to use a L2 Tesla Destination charger. Superchargers require a "handshake" and won't work.

Motorcycles can take the HOV lanes, easier to park. Plus you save on fuel, insurance and parking. Plus, lets admit it, sometimes people squeeze their bikes through in traffic too.

Yes, but will in fact cost you more after 5 years of ownership, since you will have to do regular oil changes and engine maintenance plus gas, while on this you don’t. So if you plan on owning the bike for longer that 5 years, it’s actually less expensive to buy electric.

@@DownieLive No, it is significantly more expensive in fact. 30-35 eurocents per kwh, the savings in fuel aren't as big as you would assume they are. Maintenance on a japanese bike is cheap. The most expensive parts of the maintenance still have to be done on this electric bike, namely tires and brakes. There's something like a 12-15K euros delta between a cheap sports bike and this. That's a lot of fuel buddy.

@@detaart I guess there are price differences in electricity and gasoline between where you are and where I live. Here, gasoline is very expensive and electricity is cheap. Plus, no spark plugs, filters, etc. But yes, brakes and tires have to be done.

@@DownieLive Spark plugs ... maybe every 60K kms for like 50-100 euros .... filters, yeah sure, 20-30 euros. Gas is very expensive here, too, but so is electricity. There would be savings, it's just not as huge as people would think it is. Basic maintenance on a bike is very cheap, except for tires, brakes and the chain. Snap a belt on one of these, it would probably be quite expensive. Not to mention ... if anything breaks out of warranty (and it will), good luck getting parts for this thing at a reasonable price. Drop it, and you are probably looking at three figures for some fairing. It would be like owning a ducati superbike minus all the performance and fun. Look, i get it ... electric is the future. I really enjoyed riding that SR. It was lots of fun. But zero bikes are just overpriced. That's just what it is. If an SR would be more reasonably priced at say 6-8K euros, then it would be a no brainer. I say 6-8K, because that's about how a similarly priced gasser bike performs. The hardware (suspension, brakes, etc) on these is just very basic. Single disc brake on a sports bike in 2018? Seriously? An SR costs 20K+ here base price. That's without the extended battery or quick charger, etc. Also, these tend to overheat on the highway. Just do some research on them. Sorry, to me, this is just an overpriced product from an american company, which means zero after-warranty service. I've owned an american car exactly once, and that is how it will remain. If an electric bike would be priced and perform similarly to a gas bike, i will choose the electric bike hands down. For now, i'm afraid it is just a niche market, catering to people who think they're saving the planet by burning their disposable income to get new things produced instead of buying second hand and recycling. Think of all the pollution that comes from producing a new bike, and worse ... for electric ... think of all the heavy metals and what happens to them after disposal ... Just my two cents.

I agree with you on a lot of fronts. It is definitely better for the environment to continue riding an old bike rather than buying a new electric bike. And I get that it is about twice the price of a comparable ICE bike, but prices will come down and technology will improve to increase range. It might not be perfect yet, but they’re coming and they will replace ICE bikes soon enough. My 2 cents.

You have bigger problems than lack of sound riding an MC. How bout an entire generation of Distracted Drivers?? My first transportation was a Bike, I don't think I would want to do long commutes on one in today's world. Strictly pleasure riding out in the sticks for me. LOL
