So refreshing! Sheila showed out baby! I just love her intimacy and passion for her beautiful voice from God! They are truly blessed to bless us with there beautiful spirits and talents...🦋🎼🌞🦋🖤🌻
staple singers and emotions...cant compare! its like old soul vs very old soulful music. makes u wonder why at 16, people would say...i was too young to know and love this type of muisc. only had old school and r & b...enchantment and phillipe' are people are throw on to do homework back in the day. Now, ive finally caught up in age and its still the only music i blast. yes, i have thrown in a few modern and new age singers but my fav. will always be classic
I was becoming more disenchanted with whatever the modern music was then, but so at 16 I just suddenly went on a tear finding old gems in any form available - cassette, cd, vinyl, etc.. I did have a lot of promo pieces, and DJ remixes, and out of prints, and specialized edits. I also had a ton of live performances and videos. I have managed to get some of the things (fortunately I had an online friend with whom I shared videos and songs - and he re-sent them). On the prowl for the rest...lol
I've been immersed in the Catheral of the Blood Sistas. These women are our natural treasures. They need to be honored via Essence Awards and BET asap it's long long over due. These gems sing rings around the youngsters without skipping a beat. "My favorite female trio" SANGING SINGING SASSY SISTERS. Listen to their Stax Records "GEMS" Honey Child those girls were very young youngsters during that era however they weren't taking no prisoners!!
I know this may sound a little shallow...but didn't that wind blowing help with the drama of the performance. It's like nature gave them their own special effects. I LOVED IT!
Lord, this is real talent, musicianship, soul and heart! Our people should be OUTRAGED at what the wicked record companies have done to one of our most powerful legacies; OUR GREAT SOUL MUSIC!
Aaahh... like a breeze of fresh air on a muggy day. Gone are the days of REAL MEANINGFUL LYRICS, SONGS, & TALENT. At least we have the legends to look back on. THanks for the post!
The wonderful ladies of The Emotions still have top notch voices. Of course there are differences from between the 70s voices and now, but they still have power and range, and the most amazing harmony. I'll bet if they were to record a new album, release it online or w/ an independent, and pull a Teena Marie (release an album with no photo) -- people would snap it up just because they are amazed by their voices. They'd buy whether they'd heard of The Emotions or not. Quality!
love Nancy Wilson interputation of this song and every other song she remakes. Bonnie Ratt "I Can't Make You Love Me" crazy version of that song just absolutely amazing
I have this on VHS still(lol)the full concert just loved it and still do.It is a Sinbad HBO special from Aruba when he was doing them in the late 90'S.
It's beautiful to see what this music does to the audience in comparison to the thug bitch music of today. We in the 90's who were never fans thought it was a fad. The music power brokers, thirsty rappers and the sheeple wouldn't let it die. This is what the people wanted. It's frustrating and many of us are losing our families to this ignorance. I can find solace in the fact that true music brings people together. And maybe we will get back to this. Someday.
Here is my favorite Emotions song. Sheila is playing to the audience. Looks like a great concert. Jeanette’s voice is standing out here. I like the nod t o the Boogie Wonderland video with the rainbow shawl the Emotions wore in the video. Great performance!!!
Superior soul music. Superior soul writing. Superior all time favourite female singing group. Love the fact so many people singing along to this in the audience - I am not alone!
I think I was around 12 when this came out. This song played in the hood all day and night! If someone puts it on at an affair nowadays, the whole crowds swells. You know how it is when a good old record is put on!
I saw the Emotions several times in the late seventies. These ladies would send chills down my spine specially when they sang "Walking the Line" and "Flowers"
@daretosayit Hello, The third younglady was Jeanette, my dear. I have been following this group since the late '60's. They are my favorite female vocalist group of all times and one of the best vocalist group out there even today. Their harmony is out of this world, thanks to their father. It was my pleasure talking with you and hopefully we could compare and talk again.
LOL!!! So, you beat me to it! LOL.. Alright for the Emotions love.. Let's keep let'n the world know about the ultimate female group! Was chilling with them, this year...THEY ARE LIKE WINE....JUST GET BETTER WITH TIME..
