The End of Events - A Star Stable Online Documentary 

It sucks that star stable is "Americanizing" the game, I wish they would have more Swedish and other Nordic culture in it.

Star Stable events started going downhill when they focused on the grind for currency instead of giving us fun quests and activities with no need of a currency to enjoy them. They have the potential to make great events, they just choose not to 😔

I think 2016 must've been the peak of Star Stable. I miss it so much this video is so nostalgic and I love it

The game maybe isn't dead, but its spirit is. Every quest/event nowadays feels really empty, soulless. There's not much of an atmosphere in any of them and it feels really repetative. While yes 2022 Winter event was good it still lacks (imo) that spark to it. I recently tried to play this game, but I only played for 10 minutes, got bored and left. Anyways, as always, high quality and informative video 💖 TY for sharing your thoughts, especially in this community.

I feel like a lot of the old events were based on Scandinavian culture, and SSO have Americanised it by removing these undertones and bringing it more in line with western culture. As a kid I loved learning about their culture and traditions through the game events, it’s a shame that children these days won’t get the same experiences.

as someone who has been playing since 2015 i really do love your documentaries, its really validating to see that other people feel the same thing. this is very well put together and pretty much sums up all my feelings, it's so disheartening to see all the uniqueness and warm feeling this game had be lost, i was a non-star rider for most of my early years playing so i didnt even get to experience a lot of these events myself and i mostly relyed on youtube videos, so when i finally got star rider it only took a while for all the events to get changed like this. its something i will always be upset about

i will never understand the reasoning for getting rid of events, it gave players something to do and it was fun to collect seasonal/ exclusive items. i hope someday they implement them back in some way. love the video btw! :)

Oh my god I still own that original midsummer wreath.. how I miss that event. As a nord, I was really excited seeing people enjoy a much beloved tradition from *my* culture. I don't really understand how getting rid of it.. added... inclusivity... I honestly feel like it did the exact opposite, but I may just be biased and bitter :c

Your comments on valentines day of being 'The friendliest holiday' spoke to me. Being a queer kid who didnt know being queer was a thing, star stable was a safe space. I had an sso wife, we actually had a ceremony with our club. Bit cringy now, but it always gives me warm memories

Truly well said. They took out all the uniqueness and charm the game had EVEN from yearly events and holidays everyone used to enjoy much. It’s just so sad to see all those things being wasted now. Been playing since 2014 and miss all of it

Oh man I miss the old events so much! I get that SSO got rid of them to be more inclusive but couldn't they just... add the inclusivity AND keep the og content? Like nowadays most of the events feel the same, back then i felt like the entire jorvik celebrated these events, for example during Christmas there were quests in Jarlaheim, Silverglade, Jorvik City, Valedale etc. but now it feels like they just mashed all these Christmas quests together and put them into one single location (the village) and even then, the stuff you can do in the village arent even quests anymore but few races and thats it or during Halloween when they put the ghosts, the apple catching contests and Galloper Thompson all over the map, nowadays you can do halloween stuff only through Galloper's keep (dont get me wrong i love Galloper's keep but I wish the stuff like the haunted trail ride and scarecrow race were available outside of it). I liked that back then they put event quests all over jorvik to make the world feel more alive...

You have missed Fashion week , potato festival

I live in a western country, so maybe I'm wrong in this..but with jorvik being an island inspired by Sweden and Norway and Scandinavian countries like them (I'm pretty sure it's off the coast of Sweden and Norway as well) But in the recent years I feel like they have westernized themselves a lot. The changes of architecture in updates, the western ranches, and the most solid bit of evidence the removal of midsomer. which from my little Aussie education, is huge in the Scandinavian countries influencing jorvik, along with Christmas and Easter. The kalters remind me of the little bit I've seen about Sami people and they removed them... A lot of these things have made our little Holliday in Europe feel like a vacation to America/Canada. How long until jorvik gets a name change and is moved from the Swedish coast to the Californian coast? I obviously don't live in Europe so maybe I'm wrong in what I've found, and if you're from these kind of European countries/Scandinavian countries, I'd love to hear your perspectives. But it's just kind of sad to see the game change in such a desperate way to appeal to more people.. That's my little rant Add more gender options SSO!!! Bye bye

My favorite event was the midsummer. I miss it dearly.. I remember waking up super early just to play it any make the beautiful flower crowns. Its my favorite because when I joined in 2018 that was the event currently going on. When I found out it was leaving I cried :(

The saddest thing is SSO will never care about the older players. It doesn't make sense when it comes to money. We've already bought Star Rider and had the accounts for YEARS, so no need to buy extra SC either (I'm sure all of us had bigger breaks from the game in which the account would just farm money). So they will never care about us or listen to us.

God, 2016 player here. You made me cry 10 seconds in at the loading screen. God I miss this game, I miss and i loved it. I’m so sad I never got the proper closure and goodbye with this game and these graphics it used to have. It felt so fast, too fast, a blink and it was over. All of my old friends are gone, and it’s just me now on this game with new faces and names I’ve never seen before. It’s crazy seeing all these old clubs disband. I remember one and only one that I was in called Mountain Bears 😭❤️🐻

Not to mention in last years Halloween event after unlocking the pumpkin hunt for a relatively large amount of shards you could only hunt like one pumpkin a day, making it feel kinda really pointless. The pumpkin hunt and Galloper chase were my absolute favourite parts of Halloween and it sucks one of them got nerfed so hard

Your documentaries are so well made and explained beautifully. I first started playing sso in 2016. It has changed so dramatically. I used to have to be grounded because I was so addicted to this game. Now it takes events and releases of interesting things to get my on the game. Ik a lot of other players can relate to me on this , especially after playing for as long as I have. If more events are taken away, the more people are gonna stop logging on. Back in the day the valentines celebration was my favorite. Due to the decor and the little teddy bear pets. Seeing the quests for that event being done made me tear up. Sso used to be so generous with their events and now they are so greedy for not much work. I hate what sso has done or lack of to the Valentine’s Day. And then the st pattys event. One of my favorite events to do with friends when I started playing. Digging for gold was addicting and an actually fun mini game. Again I’m so upset about what happened to St. pattys day. I completely forgot about the colorful horse colors and the easter bunny! It seems after 2017 sso got lazy. The Easter egg hunts were so fun , I always loved the hunts in events. They got rid of all the fun events lol. I do enjoy the equestrian festival and I think they did do a goodish job. I am very impressed with the dressage and it was one of my favorite things. I hated the “gold rush” it was a wannabe of the st Patty events. Cloud kingdom was fun the first year it came out but after it was boring. I do like the pride aspect of it but it’s still quite boring. MIDSUMMER!!! One of the best events sso introduced. Being able to create crowns for your character was such a cool feature. I obviously could continue to give my opinions on every event. Halloween used to be so fun before they removed some of the mini games. Christmas, fun especially in the racing department. To summarize, sso turned greedy for money and ruined the game.

Ngl I've been playing since 2015 and these videos brought serious tears to my eyes. I was just a kid when I started playing and I wasn't the type of girl to record her gameplays so the majority of my star stable memories have vanished, but seeing this people record the game back in the good old days makes me feel like I'm playing again when I was just a newbie. I'm a really nostalgic person and everytime I open Star Stable I remember what a good game it was back in the day, and it's really sad to see how many things have changed, like the graphics or Steve's farm. The game is dull and boring and all my friends are gone. It's really sad what they've done to my childhood game. Pd: I started crying like a baby when I heard Raptor's song 'Hey yo' at the end of the video. Jesus what a great song that is. Beautiful documentary Kitti, thank you :')

Its so sad to see all these wonderful and cute events get taken out of the game. This truly was a trip down nostalgia road even if I only started playing in 2017

My problem is that the events now are super grindy and i get bored of them really quick so i end up not getting anything most of the time 😔

While I enjoyed Camp Western quite a lot, the event I miss the most is Midsummer. I'm Finnish, and we celebrate Midsummer as well (a bit differently than in Sweden though), so I was really happy to see it having a role in any game. Overall I've always enjoyed the Nordic feeling SSO (and previous Starshine/Star Stable games) have (or had). It feels cozy and pleasantly familiar to me, and it's nice to have something else than just "global" Americanized holidays (and culture in general). Unfortunately I don't get that feeling that much anymore. Ghost/Easter egg hunts were awesome as well. I loved running around looking for them. I wish they would come back some day...

I think the last time I enjoyed an event was when we had the Christmas ice boutique thing. It was cool how they had the items shown. Not its all currency that increases every year, to make you play for longer because you have to farm every day or you wont be able to get everything. And all the events are confined to their dedicated mini world. There isnt a sense of need or want to play in the main world much

literally made me cry, i miss how it used to feel logging in everyday to complete my races and do my quests. i miss all the old horse models and the old animations :(

I loved the old star stable so much, we had so many good events, our starting horse was also so important, in fact I loved it a lot at the time (until they ruined them) at that time the game and its horses had a soul and even though we get new horses, it's just not the same feeling. I miss these events when there was really something to do and you got to know the NPC characters and Jorvik better . To this day, I'm stuck with the 1st and 2nd generation horses , tack they are carry a lot of memories.

I miss the days when I was excited for new events with new activities. I miss wanting to log on to play with my friends 24/7 and the fear of missing out when I was busy. Now, I play for a couple days and just dont visit the game again for months, even years at times.

I feel like Star Stable removed these events cuz they didn’t want to come up with new activities and the old ones were getting stale. Halloween is a great example. Instead of coming up with new activities last year, they kept the same activities but forced u to collect items to unlock them. I didn’t bother to participate last year. And Halloween was always my favorite on Star Stable 😢

For about a year I would litteraly cry whenever I logged on. I couldn't stand playing a game that didn't feel the same, but I've been playing it again for about a week now and I've listened 2 of ur podcast. I am proud of myself that I listened both, AND played the game without crying and accepted the game has changed. It has been a change for the worst, but I just need to find comfort in something.

I hated Halloween 2022. Everything was behind currency walls. Instead of logging in and experience halloween you had to run in literal circles for hours, collecting soul splinters over and over again by doing the exact same repetitive and uncreative splinter hunt just so that you can unlock ONE quest/race. You spend hours running in circles to unlock the pumpkin hunt only for the hunt, that you wanted to experience, to be shortened so its completable in 5 minutes. Halloween 2022 for me was quite literally nothing else than collecting currency for hours on end, in the most mind-numbing and time throttling way imaginable, so you can play a 2 minute race that you were used to be able to experience immediately and for free the years prior.

if this were a documentary in the cinema, I would pay the full price to see it. Truly a masterpiece, thank u so much xx

I`ve been playing since 2020 but still that is nostalgic in some way I only remember the ad from back then. I always wanted to play it but I wasn´t allowed to. I also feel like SSO doesn´t put much heart or soul in this game anymore when I see those videos. I only had fun when I started in 2020 but then after when I didnt have quests anymore and my friends also stopped playing since they´re were players since 2012, 2013 etc. and the game was just boring. It´s not just that I kinda grew out of the game, it got boring too. The game feels dull. I also heard that StarStable had financial troubles. There are still many players but most of them quit or probaly don´t spend money on this game anymore like me because I think it´s not worth it. It´s kinda sad, because I spend like almost 400 or 500 € in this game.

12:38 If I remember correctly we do have a Fortuna festival kind of thing, it changed the month from March to June and is now called rainbow festival but it still got the parade and the digging for gold Which I really enjoyed this year ✌🏻

1:05:15 I remember this.. those quests you had to do to collect those soul shards. I didnt have much left from the previous year, but I tried. Then there was something about collecting spider eggs and ghost goo. I didnt have the ghost goo. I dont know if it was glitched or bugged, but it did not show up in my game. I watched youtube videos to find it, I re installed my game, I contacted them (no response) and I switched servers. I spend hours searching that island looking for the ghost goo, but it was simply not there. I was not able to do anything that halloween and that absolutely ruined it for me. I was not able to participate in the one thing we finally COULD do in the game, I wasnt allowed and I remember being so pissed off. I hope this year, they wont pull anything so dirty.

Interesting to finally see it coming out

One of the biggest event memories for me besides the christmas Jarlaheim one is the halloween ghost hunting one! I remember not having star rider at the time, but I got a rewards that stuck with me for years. They were the Summer Fruit Gloves, there hasn't been any fingerless gloves besides those for YEARS (as I recall at least). Only in the recent years have they been adding fingerless gloves to the game, but even then most of them still weren't black or didn't have good enough stats. I was honestly disgusted when I first saw what they did to the event currencies this spring. It's not a big difference, but it honestly does make it feel artificial...

since i am one of the only two woman in my company my boss asked me what I am playing because he wants to introduce his daughters to gaming. I told him SSO and they thought it was boring after not even playing one day. Sadly this game dies year after year

Oh how much i miss those times that the second i got home from school I dropped my bags and ran to my family’s laptop

I used to watch Star Stable RU-vid videos when I was much younger, marveling over the pretty horses and the whole charm of the quests. I begged my dad to let me play, but his laptop he offered me was too old. Time passed and I only checked Star Stable videos once in a blue moon. For my birthday in 2021 I got the phone I’m using right now. I went onto the App Store and somehow stumbled upon… Star Stable Mobile!!! I was so exited and spent the rest of the day playing the game, feeling like I finally got the game I had always loved. Sadly, the happiness only lasted for so long. I’m finding myself preferring the old horses, and I watch nostalgia videos from 2012-2016 feeling like the magical game Star Stable used to be is quickly slipping away between my fingers… the company is toxic, the new horses are overwhelming, and once I finish my quests… what then? Love your documentaries by the way ^^

I joined SSO about 10 years ago when I was 9 years old. I remember the old style, events and story line. I don't play really anymore unless I am really bored or on holidays when I'm just sitting around at home. I have alot to say about this game, It does Urke me that we still don't have the end of the main story line. I find it funny that according to the story line it is only like 2 months into the time frame but It has taken over 12 years to get this far. SSO has taken the focus away from fun events, limited time quests and story line quests and saturated the game with horses and grinding. It takes them so long to develop these quests and apparently they change the story line all the time so old players wont have the same quests as the new players. (What is the point?) I personally think the SSO management have given up on their own game and don't actually care about the outcome anymore as long as they get money. Also apparently they don't have updated technology to keep up with how much they need to produce weekly hence why the constant horse updates and grinding quests. Which if that's the case that's insane considering according to them 2 years ago they had like 1 million new players during covid lockdown (2021) and let's just say half of them brought life time star rider that is 35mil in their pocket. Not to mention people buying star coins, I just don't they have their priorities straight and it definetely shows.

Aw man, another incredible documentary!! I started playing in 2016, what I call the last year of classic SSO. I wish I had done the Christmas quests more at that time, it was my first time buying star rider and I was more focused on unlocking The Harvest Counties and doing quests :') It's great to look back on these old holidays and see the ones I missed. I think it's ridiculous they removed so many because of religion. I'm antitheist myself but you would not hear me complain about SSO holiday events, especially when they didn't infact, include religion. They all had the more pagan/traditional European way of celebrating (and all the holidays SSO has celebrated are rooted in paganism anyway) and had nothing to do with gods which would have caused an issue. As a secular pagan I don't celebrate holidahs with religion and god in mind, I celebrate holidays for their original values, natural events, etc. like harvest, family, coming together, celebrating soltices and the coming of seasons, which is exactly what SSO did with their events. No matter what religion you are we can all get behind enjoying summer, finding eggs, dressing up, and hanging out with friends and family. I really appreciated the Swedish aspects of the events as well, especially as a baby pagan as it introduced me to Midsummer and Yule goats. SSO takes pride in their Swedish origins and I'm here for it. This year I'm so incredibly hyped for Halloween, both irl and in game. I'm not even sure why, I'm just brimming with excitement. While last year may have been a flop, the outfits were incredible!!! I have my outfits and Halloween horses ready, my festive decorations, clothes, jewelry, and even gerbil toys/tank stickers waiting to come out irl. The SSO Galentines race was my all time favorite event in SSO but since it's removal my new favorite is definitely Halloween. I really hope more Galloper lore is revealed, the quest in 2020 with Ydris was perfect and made me so happy. I wish I was a star rider in 2016 so I could have had the original Galloper encounter. By far one of my favorite characters. Alright, I'll end my essay here lol, great work as always Kitti

I read somewhere that they (apparently, it's just an assumption) did the Spring, Winter, Fall and Summer Festivals because things like Christmas were too religious and Valentines Day was too real (as in real world stuff). If that indeed were the case, not only would it be contradictory, it would be a bit weird imo

ohhh what I would GIVE to experience the 2020 Halloween festival!! I started playing sso this year.. So I never had the chance to go over the quests that year :((( And sorry not sorry I am a big fan of Ydris; his storyline, quests and character are so interesting. I love the creepy vibes of Halloween, its my favorite event so far. And I find it secretly very sad that never knew earlier about this game.. :((((

First of all, Chaun and his rainbow did return this year. 2nd, we were only able to exclusively change the coats of our starter horses for April Fools and Halloween because different horse breeds have different texture maps that don't match. Not because of the story. Yes, I agree that SSE forgot where they came from but y'all just love to complain too. Also you forgot the potato festival & Fashion Week.
