The End Of The Road For Us... 

For Spencer to say he didn't have any building skills, he is sure killin it. Dude is a beast and self taught, he is a perfect example of, Where there's a will there's a way. Bravo Spencer 👏👏👏.

For those wondering: ERV stands for Energy Recovery Ventilator, and is regularly referred to as an air exchanger and an ERV ventilation system. They pull fresh, clean air into the building and take out stale/unclean air.

When moving the "cabin" up to the property, I'd move it up there in cold (kissing below freezing) stretch of dry weather as the gravel road base will be more solid beneath. You can always re-position it later to a final location once utilities are setup and a spot groomed to put it. Lesson I learned long ago by waiting until Spring and sinking a heavy trailered shipping container after warm weather and rain upon a newly created gravel road. Expensive lesson learned in fact.

About the gate: If you mount a wheel on the latch side of the gate, it will relieve the pressure on the hinge side, as well as allow the gate to open more smoothly.

Who agrees with me that we need a minimum of a 20 min video every time this amazing family posts something? These short ones just wet the whistle and leaving me wanting more. And they can't use the excuss that anything longer would be filled with just filler information because I believe nothing they would show or do would be considered filler. Id watch them weld/cut/paint/mulch/pave/decorate/enjoy lift anytime no matter how long it was.

As over the years another great video. Svencer, not only your welding, but everything you do. We have seen you tackle so many projects that you have become the #1 jack of all trades. Mom and the kids and the Christmas tree. The kids will see that on film years from now and have something to show their kids. Be safe and stay warm.

I’m in my late 70’s so my pleasure is vicarious these days. My only reservation is that the videos that used to almost always be 30 minutes or longer have become quite short. I hope the shorter format doesn’t reduce the support you get. Keep them coming!

My road contractor backed out of finishing the project at only 90% completion, so I’m right with you on finishing up roads and driveways. Now I have to get an excavator up to my property in sub-freezing weather to just move some base material. If you want a job done correctly, you need to just do it yourself.

I would have cut the hole smaller and raised four side edges up, so the box you made would sit on top of the edges, then there's less chances for water to seep in from the sides. Nevertheless, you do good work, and fix what goes wrong. Perseverance is your best quality.

Fantastic transformation on the cabin site. That road and gate are awesome. When you are developing a new property by yourselves it is hard. Definitely not a race, but a steady plan of carefully thought out tasks. All your building on the cabin site takes time to do it right. Proud of your work ethic. Your babies are beautiful!! 7 or 8 years ago we cleared property of spruce and alder.. We processed limbs and branches into mulch. Just as you did. We created two VW Beetle area size mounds. It ended up sitting for two winters and one summer. When getting back to the mounds we discovered the mulch full carpenter ants, termites, and weevils. There were also hornets or bees eating the wood. Don't remember which. We had no choice but to burn the two piles. We ended up landscaping with river rock and crushed rocks. No more bugs. So keep an eye on your mulch piles. Good video. 👍👍👍
