It’s less of a walk back, and more like a crab awkwardly walking sideways. Also, it's true that I was offered a job on this UV Mask project. I'll see try to it that this thing delivers.

with all the facts that I received, UV-Mask have huge question-mark (?) with lots of things to work-on. I'm a backer (closed my eyes) and my only hope is that it will improve from its infancy because there's a future a-head of this mask if they will get it right and honest from the start. Adding the Fan in the mask speeds-up air circulation and I assume that the exposure time on the vortex will be shortens then again.. with all the theory and calculations and testing.. all of those are negated since the airflow fastens as well as the calculations presented are based on normal breathing situation not on some one who breathing faster like while walking or running. So basically I think.. even though I'm a backer of the UV-Mask; I think it's still a mess.

@@7Archie4 Hi Arcie, My STATEMENT is that if the UVMask does not work with the UV-C, I will still be cheaper with the same level of protection. In the Netherlands, I pay for 60x 3M FFP3 Mouth mask without valve type 1863 € 509.34 or € 8.49 ex VAT per piece 1 UVmask with 60 3M N99 filters now costs me $ 99 + $ 86 = $ 185 Import is 3% tax = $ 5.55 Shipping $ 25.00 (Estimate). Subtotal = $ 215.55 21% tax on $ 215.55 = $ 45.27 Total $ 260.82. (€ 221.69). The savings will be € 509 - € 221.69 is € 287.65 Thanks to this saving, I can also buy a set for my wife and still have money left over. But again my STATEMENT is that if the UVMask with the UV-C does not work, then i'm still getting the same level of protection. That's why I want to take this risk. Which I don't consider as a risk. Hi there! You're making great videos indeed. I saw the first video and also checked the corrections in the comments. Very nice to see this one too. The mask that appears in the end (Leaf) is one that I'm planning to purchase. That mask does the UV-C sanitation of the filters when the mask is taken off. So it's not running the air through UV-C. But it's said to have some really efficient HEPA filters. It would definitely be interesting to watch your review of those masks. Keep up the good work! All the best! / Daniel

I think the experimental verification is an excellent step. All good and well calculating the possibles but just testing the damn thing, especially when it can be done relatively easily and quickly, can tell you far more definitively if things are working or not. I also really want this thing to work, but I might wait until its closer to retail. If you are working with them on the project it would be really nice if you made some up dates on the project if anything interesting happens, like of they get some tests done on the filtration system.

Thanks for the honesty and the update. I don't feel like I should retrieve my pledge as this mask will be for sure better than having a classic FFP2 mask everyday going to work with public transport. I need a more practical re-usable solution and I do like the product. Especially now that you confirmed it does work much better in comparison with the first video. I would like to ask your opinion on the new update that will be launched tomorrow, in the comments section UV Mask answered a comment saying this "FFP3/N99 filters will be available for $1.6/each or $16/10pc. We will announce it tomorrow in the next update. Stay tuned." Do you think this could change and improve the numbers and effectiveness of the mask any further? Would you reccommend to do this upgrade in the pledge? Or between n95 and n99 there won't be a clear, real life improvement? Thank you for your time. I subscribed and I've activated the bell on "all notifications", glad I've found your channel.

I’m personally not brave enough for crowdfunding campaigns. So I’m not the guy to say what’s “worth it.” However, I will say that your level of protection should be proportional to your risk. I’ve used N95 masks and haven’t had any problems myself.

Thanks for your update, but 200 mL/sec is a wrong number in this case. In their campaign they claim to use a 57 L/min constant flow positive pressure system (it's not on the campaign page, but it's in FAQ and comments), meaning a flow of ~1 L/sec.

This guys is a true scholar with opinions that match facts. I agree that more R&D in a wet lab approach could help solidify their claims. Such as , dosing bacterium inoculated Petri dishes with said UVC and posting results for consumers. Oversold idea...sure. It’s might change if they listen to this dude.

Leaf can be safely ignored tho, it's just a regular mask that happens to optionally come with a UV-C sterilizer for when it isn't being used, or a sensor suite that's largely pointless. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out. It got popular for looking pretty but it doesn't really do anything special.

@@DucklatchProductions I'm not sure if there is manual on/off, but the FAQ on the campaign says you can use the mask with a depleted battery and just rely on the filter for filtration, so if there is a switch you should be good.

I assume the UVC lamps in this mask produce the UV light that produces ozone, so....

@@BlueprintScience I'm going off the assumption that the light used is your average off-the-shelf Chinese germicidal UVC light. There's a good chance it emits UVV if it's from Shenzhen. It's a longish story, but the short version is that people were using straight UVC lights in night clubs and for art, and... There were injuries.

So the spiral is made of quartz? working with quartz is very difficult (hence expensive), a quartz microscope slide costs like $50 each! and its just a flat piece of quartz, plus the high power UVC LEDs I don't know how they can pull this gadget at such price. even the $249 full price seems somewhat optimistic.

Hi Teresa, you were right about the high cost of these components. That said, the price you quoted was most likely retail price. As the manufacturer ourselves, we do have the advantage to directly source from component suppliers and develop more cost-effective production methods. Nevertheless, the production cost of UVMask is higher than regular reusable masks on the market, thus we do work very hard to offer the most value for money to our backers.

Hi Michael, we can probably answer this one. The 'Expert Review Panelists' were selected from the existing backers of our Kickstarter campaign. So in order to become a panelist, you first need to be a backer. Since the creator of Blueprint is not a backer, he did not take part in the panel selection. Hope this helps. 😊

You might do a third video review of the actual product which is being delivered. Would be interested to have some factual measurements on the device. Many of us are worried it doesn't allow enough oxygen to enter, causing hypoxia.

So I'm still a little suspicious of this company because multiple customers have been charged 2x for 1 mask and otherly they say their campaign is based in Brighton Colorado while I live in Brighton colorado and there is not a single trace of there company in Brighton so if you have any contact with the company please have them contact me.

As a disclaimer, I have ordered one of these. There has been critique for this campaign, mostly about the physics and biological claims: and one was from a competitor with wild accusations. The CEO and CTO seem well educated and it also seems this is a project in evolution: they are learning, adapting and seemingly improving over the course as they should. Much of this is due to these critiques and now your in-depth videos. Congrats to you, BTW, for the pull back. With this type of campaign, we all have the option to pull out any time. If, by the end, it's shown to be over exaggerated, then we can decline. I don't think that will happen. They are very open and know BS will be caught. All this to ask, Dayton, given what you know now, if you needed or wanted a mask, would you consider buying this one?

Welp it still isn't on shelves from what I can tell! Looks like their kickstarter is full of apology posts and I don't even know what they ended up shipping to backers. (Hint, that quarts spiral chamber bullshit I would presume is totally theoretical and definitely doesn't seem like something a $3 million R and D budget could figure out how to cheaply manufacture. even if they actually intended to do it which most kickstarters don't hence only needing to present a fancy theoretical design to keep up with the latest debuking)

LEDs uses low watts and their FAQ said that they produce 1000x more effective than the other UVC lamp which in order to do so you have to pump more power which the LED will be a bottleneck

got mine, SO HARD TO BREATHE. They advertised it as easier to breathe in than a cloth mask. Wearing it feels like I have a lung disorder :/

I got mine a couple months ago agreed at first but got used to it after a couple uses. But you do really have to breathe hard to pull the air in and I’m wondering if that somehow makes it WORSE than a standard N 95 as you’re sucking the air so hard and deep into your lungs it may make any traces of virus get pulled deep into the lungs…where you most definitely DON’T want them. If you get a few in your nose or throat far easier for your mucus membranes to keep them out. Just a thought as I was huffing and puffing in a store for about an hour like 5 days ago am am getting a very bad feeling that I may have got it. Don’t know for sure (going for rapid test tomorrow) and don’t blame the mask if I did, but another potential flaw they never thought about…?

@@BlueprintScience It's funny now. I was initially making fun of the supporters and ready to clown on you. But, with the whole W-han flu dying down and mask mandates being lifted, you start to see how much people truly believed in the product and wanted it to succeed. It's sad seeing in the comments how much people were affected by how badly managed this project was. I can't clown on the creators as there IS an actual product. So it can't be a total scam. Maybe just a botch job.

The problem is, by the time they finish R n D and it rolls out for public use, the covid-19 pandemic would be nearly over, maybe even with a vaccine and therefore I guess the company's profitability will be less.

Viruses and bacteria is a common daily threat so any mask you use will be a viable option if you choose. Its how contagious it is that has made covid dangerous. Pandemic or not, this mask will continue to be relevant but sadly overlooked as the pandemic eventually wanes into obscurity.
