My youngest son is 17, and recently became interested in WW2. I have this movie in Blu-Ray, so I suggested to watch it together, and he unenthusiastically agreed. At the end he was in tears. It’s that good.
Also with that bittersweet ending, when they showed all the survived veteran pilots that Miyabe interacted or influenced during the war starting to realise why living is more important than death
It's a really great movie, and one of the things that makes this movie great is undoubtedly the soundtrack. Especially the scene where Zero enters the screen and lands on the Akagi is like a work of art.

The two most beautiful scenes of the movie are very similar. The first one, early in the movie, is when the zeros take off before attacking Pear Harbour. The second one, when they take off in Miyabes last mission. Both scenes happen with the sun rising and the planes flying between pink clouds, and both share this soundtrack.
Now this is one of my favorite Japanese ww2 songs of all time in this movie the eternal zero: it so good and honorable I respect it a lot so much good feelings in it. Thanks for this Upload! 🇯🇵
One of the greatest war films there is, shows you the truth behind the Kamikaze and how many people absolutely hated it. Dying in battle is one thing, but the Kamikaze was only successful if you died and that’s why so many people hated the tactic. It wasn’t dying in honor or in battle, you were just wasting a life you could’ve used shooting down planes and dying in battle honorably.
as my RC Black Horse Models Zero sets out on it's maiden flight I shall play this in my head for good luck and to admire it's beauty. For now the moment has always passed my grasp and I have to wait until the weather settles into a very calm wind.
So in Godzilla Minus One, I think the main character, Koichi, originally flies a Zero plane, since he's a kamikaze pilot. And in the end, he flies the Shinden, obviously, but I think the theme music for when he flies the Shinden, which is titled Resolution, is similar to this song, a movie about a pilot of a Zero plane.
