@@GavinLepley i think u are not familiar with country balls The law says all countries are balls except those that are an exception (ex : Israel (cube), Singapour (triangle), etc.)
I went to Georgia a couple of months ago, and it's so decorated with eu flags, that you'd think they're more than a full member. Also, in Armenia (where I live), many politicians have already talked about applying, so we'll see
I think one thing Armenia and Georgia have that could make them a more appealing candidate is their religion. Even though it is not talked about, that could subconsciously be a deciding factor in determining which country is "European" enough to join the EU.
From a geopolitical point of view, Armenia needs to join EU ASAP to ensure security. Turkey and Azerbaijan are getting aggressive and Armenia’s traditional security guarantor- Russia- is increasingly unwilling to protect Armenia. But joining the EU may harm relations with neighbouring Iran.
@@jonathanodude6660 Nope. Only air and water traffic, there's still borders if you try to go to Hungary from Romania. I swear they keep making up more shit to prevent them for joining.
@@Renegateor well, other EU countries dont place their military within the applicants border or support separatists within that country before them having a "referendum". the putin bot factory is working hard right now i see.
this is the goofiest title of a video I have ever seen, this is nothing like supporting separatists or straight up inventing new states for your advantage, the EU is basically recognition that you aren't going to be invaded and LOSE. Also, it gives people more rights, not less, unlike the "separatists".
1:18 "The only real example in the world of this where an entire state is surrounded by one other is Lesotho and South Africa..." Vatican: Am I a joke to you? San Marino: And he even says that while he's talking about the EU... 🙂
In spite of everything, Australia's culture has its origin in the English, European culture, ethnicity, descendants of the British and although they are not territorially they will be much more Europe forever than shitrocco
Ursula von der Leyen is not the "President of Europe". She's the President of the European Commission, which is technically more similar to a Prime Minister than a President.
@@ibx2cat Do you even have the slightest idea of what you are talking about? A Prime Minister is not the leader of a Parliament at all! Head of State: President or Monarch Head of Government: Prime Minister or Chancellor Head of Parliament: President of the Parliament or Speaker of the House The European Commission is the closest thing the EU has to a Government, with the individual Commissars acting as Ministers. So the President of the Commission is closest to a Prime Minister.
@@stefankatsarov5806 Then that is kind of an odd mix. Such combinations of offices do occur sometimes, but they are not the norm among most democratic nations.
There is one other government in the history of the world that has been rather similar to the eu: the original USA government under the articles of confederation
while people like to argue about whether the EU is a state or an international association, the actual answer physicists agree on is that it is a probability cloud of bureaucracy
Regarding the prohibition of communist countries, weirdly enough, it was an issue for Portugal to join the EU. The original draft of the 1975 democratic constitution provided that Portugal should make steps towards communism, but they were forced to change it to enter the EU.
Pretty weird to do for a union that claims to have freedom of speech as one of its main principles. Whenever a communist country wants to outlaw capitalism, it's considered to be a dictatorship and not a free country because of that. But whenever a capitalist country or union wants to outlaw communism that's suddenly good?
Not only are (most) people not mad about EU wanting to expand, a lot of places who are on the list of expansion are mad that it isn't happening fast enough! I see that as a win.
@@Stalkercat Europe is just a Western Eurasian peninsula. It's not a continent. It lies on the same plate and is entirely connected to Asia. The only thing that defines what a Europe is are cultural ties (and arbitrary borders like a river and a bunch of mountains). You could then even argue that Africa could belong to this continent too, as it used to have a land connection until the Brittish came and built the Suez Canal. This means, that there are 4 continents: America, Afro-Eurasia, Australia and Antarctica.
@@StalkercatNo, It is geographically in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. The division between Europe and Asia is already completely arbitrary, but whether Cyprus is considered to belong to one or the other is even more arbitrary.
@@Idkpleasejustletmechangeit I mean, If we really wanted to, We could say there are just two continents, America and Afro-Eurasia, With everything else just being a collection of islands. Or we could even say there's only one continent, Afro-Eurasia, And America is just a really big island. What's defined as a continent is completely arbitrary, So it's really up to the speaker how many continents there are and what they contain. If I wanted to say there are 20 different continents, That would be pretty silly, But you couldn't really prove me wrong.
this is kind of a bad video by your standards. A lot of baity language that to somebody not familiar with the matter gives quite the wrong impression of what is actually going on. Not great, bit of a waste of the animation budget
You must not be a regular viewer, baity language is here on purpose and it is tongue in cheek. This is definitely up to 2nd channel don't care standards. 😜
As someone who just watched this dude’s channel for the first time, I have to say that it’s a just a bad video and I’ll make sure to never watch one of his videos ever again.
I seriously dislike the portrait of the EU being painted here by, for example, comparing Switzerland being surrounded by the EU to Lesotho being surrounded by South Africa. It‘s just annoying when the EU gets compared to being a full on „country“. It‘s just an economic collaboration between the different European countries. The countries included in the EU still are fully independent countries with economies, currencies*, foreign relations, passports, etc… (*while yes, there‘s the euro, it has different designs for each country, and is an option completely up to the countries in the EU as to wether they want to join or not). My point basically is: just like brics or that economic african union or even the UN, the EU is just a cooperation focused on money and economy. No country gets annexed, neither is it just a single country, but it‘s JUST A UNION, A COOPERATION!
A few days ago I watched your 5 year old video about every EU country where you commented how you're more anti EU and I was wondering if that's atill the case?
I wish the US was run more like the EU. Besides monetary policy and trade each state does its own thing. The only difference would be the US would have one military.
@hadiisaboss5307 yeah but thr EU extending beyond Europe would be cool. It's so beneficial for all members so spreading that as far as possible would be good imo
Empire is good for business and travel as long as you are relatively equal and not slave province. During Rome, Syrian could go from Damascus to London without bureaucratic hassle or haggling with robber baron / agha and that situation was still not restored to this day. However Old Europe is still full of people living in same village from Great Migration of 5th century, so Project EU is building empire as fast as possible to not spook them too much.
stop starving your self! Money is clearly being spent on cat pictures here, I wanna see your face bounce up and down with every syllable and if you spend all the money on kebab it will just get better!
This sounds just like American states tbh. The inflation in Arizona isn’t the same as Arkansas for example. So they’d have different requirements but controlled by the federal policies. Before the civil war, the US was kinda like today’s EU except they had a US army and federal foreign policy. People were more proud of their states and liked it more than the country.
Expansion is a mistake. We shouldn't be letting any countries in till they have 15+ year record of meeting the standards. As we've seen, it's all to easy to backslide. I support promoting our values and aiding development for places like Ukraine, Serbia, and FYROM, but letting them in is a terrible idea at the moment. Sure, we should signal the potential for membership to Ukraine in particular, but it is still a very corrupt country.
the european union and its basic policies were something that made perfect sense and were basically a no brainer to me as a child. border free travel? sure! trade? sure! and then the older i got the more muddy things got and i became more aware of the issues that our world inherently has. 😂 and yet the EU, to this day still sounds like something i support on a core basis. but their more crazy recent policies (specifically the ecological ones) make it harder and harder to understand each passing day. as always interesting video and i love this format. cheers from a polandsquare. :)
