You don't need to lock your enemies when firing Fox 3s, in fact I'd strongly argue against it. The whole point of a Fox 3 is to have the enemy tracked in TWS and not give them a launch warning until the missile tracks with its own radar. Notice how your first missile launched in STT mode, did NOT hit its targets because you locked up a 2nd target and didn't provide the first missile with any target information from TWS. If the missile does not receive any TWS inputs then it relies on inertial navigation, i.e. the last know position of the enemy. If the enemy changes course at any point then the missile will no longer be looking in the right direction and will miss. All you need to do is keep the target tracked in TWS, launch the missile, move on to the next target in TWS and launch on them while keeping the first and second target tracked with TWS so that BOTH missiles will find their marks.
You really need to learn to use TWS when using fox 3s. You're missing out on one of the best aspects of the F-14. As a fun tip when using TWS ensure that you're launching on targets at roughly the same altitudes so TWS can effectively paint them. With a bit of luck from helpful opponents you'll start seeing 2-4 kills at long range consistently. 50-60km appears to be the sweet spot for Fakours. Best of luck out there.
I'll go ahead and try this, though I was having issues with tws unlocking things, and trying to maintain the tws lock just left me unable to defend the incoming fakours
as someone who struggles to play high tier jets (russian) this video is helpful, definitely helped me get better, cause i definitely am not a good pilot naturally lol. I still struggle to understand all the radar modes and how to dodge them but it's a work in progress
@@TheTemplarnight yeah, figuring out which settings to bind, and what key controls what is a pain. Just focus on getting the setting that switches the mode and the scan type so you can lock specific targets or scan for enemies. That on its own will boost your performance a lot, especially as you learn what works against you so you can use those tactics yourself against the IRIAF and F4s spam.
