Until the build is complete we will not know the overall propensity for twisting. Concerning the sills specifically, they should be more than strong enough torsion boxes to resist any twisting, given the sort of use to which this vehicle will be put. ( yeah, yeah, I know, haters, - - it'll never get driven. Well you can all Foxtrot Oscar, and for those of you who do stick around, eat shit when you see Chad and his queen wowing the residents of Canning, in Hollywood fashion, in this magnificent beauty.
@@jackg9484 That would have been a great spot for showing off of the ability to make a nice honey comb design even out of cardboard and MEK dipped/sprayed - inner supporting
Hey Team Hiltz have fun at the car show this weekend! Chad & Doug you guys are doing a great job working on the sill and it is coming along nicely! Nate they really are fortunate to have you as the mechanical part of the team and in this case to make sure the trailer is ready for the trip! Jolene great work as always on the camera work and content! Chad is so lucky to have you to run the financial end of the partnership!
Doug does more than sweep up. If anyone underestimates 'all of the other stuff' that is done by Doug, they have never built a car. Chad's cars would not be built in 30 days without his team, love the closeness of this gang, Joe ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
All I have to say Haters make the channel stronger. Just let them complain about his work. Maybe someday they will be on tv or have their own RU-vid channel like Chad does. I think he's doing just fine with his team.
First off- I'm not a hater in the least. But I will mention stuff I see, like other people. I'd have put some vertical supports inside those rocker/sill areas. Also, is there going to be some kind of lip for weatherstripping? The Nova Scotia wind is gonna be whistling thru that gap, perfect as it may be. You'll be able to see thru it. And - I admire your vision, Chad.
You're not a hater, Pal. You simply made an observation, and asked a pertinant question. Haters are the ones who never have anything complimentary to say, do nothing but spew bile, and, worst of all, get extremely personal in their attacks on Chad and Jolene. They make utter spectacles of themselves.
You can buy a GM style 1 wire Alternator to fit Nates Ford. It looks just like the stock Alternator but charges way better and does not require a Voltage Regulator as it is built in. Only wire you run is a 10ga straight to positive post on battery. They are self ignited. I do believe you can hook them up in a way to light the Alt light on dash when key is on but not running or not charging. If you are cheap like me I use a regular GM alt drill out the bolt hole and make a custom spacer. Then hook the exciter wire to a momentary on the engine. Sometimes you need to isolate the circuit with a relay or the truck will stay running after shutting the key off.
Tons of cry babies keep saying it and job not done yet ! ….. guarantee the regular resident troll will say “ chad never finishes a car “ …… keep supporting the channel fools 😮
@@lawncuttingplusdelta He going to cut and weld in a landing for the door seal at the bottom of the door, also side impacts will have cars/trucks coming inside the vehicle
Welcome to the firing line, Friend.! By now you obviously know what you're letting yourself in for. But don't worry, there are plenty of us who will stand with you.
Looks like Allenlockwood chief trollite is back. Man you can't help yourself can you. Just be honest you love this channel and Chads work. Be a big boy and admit it.
Them sills will definitely need to be re-enforced otherwise the entire body will flex over rough ground or whatever. The design that Chad has come up with l have no doubt whatsoever that it will look brilliant but nevertheless I know for a fact that those sills need to be rock solid and it would help if the new floor was also strengthened so as not to jeopardise the safety aspect of the conversion. Apart from that I sincerely hope that Chad completely finishes this project to the same extent as the brown 2 door. Other than that I am totally committed to watching each and every episode. Great team and fantastic teamwork make compelling viewing
50 / 50 , agree / disagree. A superb concept, the ' convertiblization ' ( still chuckling over that one.! ) of this car. But I dispute the sill issue. Can you provide the load figures, and stress capacity calculations for the sills, as they are, and if they have a shit-ton of unnecessary weight added and, in each case, the comparisons between now and when the entire bottom structure is in place. It sounds like a lot of calculations, but you are clearly the man for the job.
Man. I watch every day and really enjoy all of it. Is it just me that the sound fluctuates from episode to episode some times? Like today I have to run my television at a much higher level to hear it clearly. Yesterday it was great. I’ve tried everything on my end both TVs. I mean it’s no big deal I just crank her up more BUT YIKES the ads can scare the heck out of you when they go boom. lol. Anyway. Great show. Love it!!
A lot of youngsters won't know about this, but in the ' old days ' of video capture, before the advent of imaging chips, cameras had a tube sensor, ( later, three tubes, one each for red, green and blue ). They were highly allergic to bright light ( way less intense than welding ), and if so exposed could have ' holes ' burnt into the image, or the whole image destroyed. Either way, goodbye tube !! My contribution of totally unrelated, and useless information for today.
They don't believe in preparation of the weld joints which in turn stopping properly heat penatration, heat used to burn through the paint/rust ... Causing the lack of a visible penetrating weld ... blue/gold hue not present either... Showing lack of penetrating weld present on this resizing job...
@@raymonddunham8269 And yet somehow Chad has amassed a veritable plethora of amazing vehicles, and all from his own brain, and hands, with the help, of course, of the team he leads. Do you suppose it's possible that he does know what he's doing.??
One thing I must say is thank you bad Chad for working on all those vehicles building and creating, doing a good job while doing so, he says if I can do it so can you.
Really enjoying this series. Those old '59 Volvos had such great "old school" looks to them. This is quite the project, lots of planning, measuring, cutting, etc....Can't wait to see the next episode!
I hope Chad is extremely grateful for this sharp observation/question. No doubt he will be sure to ease your concern by applying said scuff plates before this project is competed. Which opens the discussion to the usual onslaught of hate, about Chad's cars never getting finished. Well. bring it on, children, I laugh in your faces, but more significantly, on behalf of the viewers who are here to appreciate the content, I thank you for your support that keeps the channel going.
You guys are awesome cool, im from West Virginia but, if i lived close to you guys I'd be there all the time wanting to jus help out, you wouldn't have to pay me either. Ol fina would have to chase me off all the time lol. I love everything you guys have done and are doing. Keep it up. Your daily episodes is what i look for most out of RU-vid, no offense, i really like Ian Roussel too
I hope Jolene has a Hiltz Auto Co stamp made so Chad can make and stamp Hiltz Sill plates for all the cars Chad builds. All Car Co's have names for every model car. Hiltz should follow suite, Each build should also have a formal build sheet to go along with each car. This will only add to the value of each car in the collection.
I've been watching for a couple months and I mostly like what you do. I'm wondering since you are trying to reinforce the structural integrity, why didn't you leave the sill on and grind down the inside so you could put on the new inside piece? That way you would have been reinforcing the structure that was already there. When you cut the sill off, it weakened the structure.l
Dudes. It’s not gonna have a top. It’s not gonna stay dry inside if caught in the rain. It’s not gonna be quiet to drive. A weather strip at the bottom of the door isn’t critical
Will this have a rag top or is it a topless car when all done? Like the high strength sills and cutting the door base to work together and remove rust. Good approach imho. From a windy England.
@ville7179 well that's a lie. Chad wears gloves when welding most of the time and when he's using the grinder. Doug chooses not to some times and that's his right if he don't want.
@Aaronlewis8846 That is his right but lately he's been handling that metal and it's very sharp Not to mention helping chad when chad's welding things could get a bit hot around the fingers!!!
