The Failure of "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" 

The fact that I definitely remember the play being Jesus Christ Superstar is incredibly confusing.

I never really understood this movie as a kid, and even rewatching it, it’s still lowkey confusing. I loved the constant use of “Never Leave You (Uh Ooh, Uh Ooh)” in the movie though, lol 😂

The soundtrack for this movie had me in a chokehold. I was OBSESSED

Pygmalion is the play in this because like most plays within a play (or films within a film), it vaguely mirrors the story. It's also about a character creating a new image for herself based on lies to transform her social status. My issue is with the fact that they modernised it. My guess is that they originally wanted to do the musical version, My Fair Lady (or maybe it was that in the book- I think this film was based on a book) but Disney couldn't be bothered to pay to use it, so they created their own modern musical of it. I remember watching this once with my mum. I was in my teens and old enough to think "Ugh, a Disney teen movie?" but I think I enjoyed it regardless, mainly because of the old movie references. I remember that it reminded me of Tracy Beaker, a kids drama series that was popular when I was going up, because the main character was also a teenage pathological liar and it had animated dream sequences. Great video! I really enjoyed it!

love lindsay but i hated this movie so much 😭😭 like you know when youre seeing someone lie in a movie and you just know that they will get exposed later, and youre cringing at the screen because you know the secondhand embarrassment is coming? this was that feeling but as a full movie

I grew up on Lindsay movies and loved them all. However, this was always the one exception. I literally owned it on DVD but for some reason, this movie confused me SO much that couldn’t get through it. It seems straight forward enough but even as an adult I’m like “wah?” 😂

Megan Fox is fully underated by the industry. Even transformers, I love her, its so obvious when she gets replaced in dark side of the moon by Rosie HW how good Fox was.

Megan's performance was even better considering how bad she was in Holiday in the Sun (not hating, it was her first role, but it was pretty cringe lol) She made a huge leap in just a couple of years.

I adored Lola’s NYC style in this little small town. She was me.

I remember reading the book series the movie was based on as a teenager… it was a bit better if memory serves. The tone was a bit more wry and it wasn’t as wish-fulfilling (like the singer doesn’t turn up at the end.) Also the boyfriend had a more active role and didn’t look like a Generic Movie Hot Guy… I think he had long hair and some kind of hippy/grunge thing going on. The plot was basically the same though

Idk why I loved this movie so much as a kid 😂 like it was SO camp and surreal for no reason at all. And the soundtrack went SOOO hard. Such a bizzare iconic movie. 😩

I love this movie so much even though it is super confusing lol. I remember watching this as a kid and being super confused on what the plot is and even as an adult the plot is all over the place but the actors were amazing especially Lindsay! Also the music was also pretty good and I still occasionally listen to a few of the sounds from the soundtrack.

this was one of my favorite movies as a kid i aspired to be as dramatic as lola. she was the blueprint for who i wanted to be in high school which probably wasn't the greatest idea😂

I always hated this movie as a kid, especially since it came out around the same time as Mean Girls which was an infinitely better movie. I am more in this age range but never liked this one 🤷‍♀ I think it had something to do with the fantasy sequences. Not my jam
