@NoName It was lucky that he restarted the race 1st but he maintained that lead like a god, one single mistake and he would have finished 2nd, but he raced perfectly the whole rest of the race to get that win
I don’t want Pierre to return to Red Bull. Even if Albon loses his seat (although I think he needs more time). The car is suited to Verstappen not a mix of Verstappen and his team mate, think it could kill his career if he returns
Couldn't agree more, saying that some of these guys show talent in a slow car but crumble when they get the big drive, gasly, albon and remember torpedo kvyat?? Bottas ain't done much either, wouldn't be too quick to promote gasly
If I was controlling the purse strings, I'd put more funds towards AlphaTauri and have it be on more of an equal footing with RB. Get Alex back there with Pierre and get Hulk or Perez to be Verstappens No. 2.
@@nilimabegum8042 If im honest, i dont even think Gasly wants to return to the redbull seat. He's probably considering other options after his results this year. Because he is starting to build up that consistency that people like to see. Being in the redbull seat again would most definently kill that consistency
The loss of Anthoine Hubert definitely drove Pierre to be better in F1. Gasly had said that in conversations with Hubert after Gasly had got demoted to prove Red Bull and the fans wrong and that he was a top talent in F1. I think that Pierre wanted to keep doing what Anthoine told him to do after he passed.
@@TommoMcCluskey especially considering he would be taking over Ocons seat and considering their history and how their friendship ended. Definitely some spicy transfers and signings left to be made.
@@MA-xz4ki Nah, Gasly is better then Ocon currently. Even though the AlphaTauri is a lower midfield car and the Renault is a high midfield car, Gasly is pulling that AlphaTauri up to points almost every race. Ocon also is in the points regularly, but again that Renault is much better then that AlphaTauri, and he's getting wayyyyy outperformed by Daniel (which is a hard task, but still) Ocon isn't bad though. I just think Pierre is having a much much better season while Ocon is having a average one.
If you really look at social media you will find that "expert people" would fire 10 drivers every year. 10 drivers who lost to their respective teammates. Every year, year after year the same

Red Bull has a history of hiring drivers before they're ready to race at a big team and then giving them the boot and ruining they're self esteem, limiting their talent, luckily Gasly rebounded and is now happier at his new team, but Jesus he had a tough life

I honestly want Carlos to win at Monza, but seeing what sort of background Pierre has been through, it was a very satisfying "In your fcking face Marko!"
This made me realise how unfair it seems because Gasly was getting around the same results as Albon is now. It could even be argued he was doing better because Ferrari were actually good and there was more competition for Red Bull
They’re only keeping Albon because they don’t have anyone to replace him, if this was last and if by chance Albon was on RB and Gasly on AT, they would have been swapped by now
@@manawearblack... Alex has the same chance to recover and pierre.. not many people believed on Gasly and he did it so therefore your point doesn't make sense

@@alexp2327 i looked and couldn't find anything, I think i remember it being said in one of the WTF1 podcasts but i honestly I don't even believe myself anymore
I think Peirre actually said "This is for Antoine" on radio. He must have been thinking something along the lines of "This was Antoine's dream, he never got a chance to live it, I have my chance now. I need to fulfill my dream, It is what Antoine would do."
If I'm looking past my bias towards Albon here, Pierre is undoubtedly the better driver of the two. Yes, he couldn't match Verstappen in the Red Bull, but seriously Verstappen is an alien, you'd have to be Daniel Ricciardo to beat him. I reckon, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Yeah, the Alpha Tauri may technically be the junior team, but Gasly's clearly comfortable there so why would you move him away from that (unless it's to a less toxic driver program)? Ultimately, if Gasly's gonna deliver the results in a worse car, then he's clearly different gravy... give him a chance and he'll be a world champion, without a doubt.
I like how Red Bull neglected Max's crashes before Pierre came to F1 and now Pierre is fired for not matching or keeping up with Max Here's a piece of my mind towards Marko: YOU CRAZY OLD BULLY, NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO WIN A RACE AT THEIR DEBUT SO STOP AXING GOOD DRIVERS FOR FOK SAKE
I think the only thing us as fans, and RedBull have discovered since Daniel’s departure from their team is that he is arguably as good as Max and Lewis. This although we were aware of before has become blatantly obvious since the start of 2019.
Didn't mind pierre but really liked him after seeing a video from F1 asking driver's some questiosn and when asked who their closest friend was or frendliest person (can't remeber which one it was) but nearlly all said Pierre. Great racer and seems like a lovely guy as well
@@Roguescienceguy bro Albon will be back next season I believe Albon can be Champion 🏆🏆🏆 everyone blame Albon but look at Vettel so bad this year and he gets faster car but ppl want Albon in slower car????
There are subtle differences between the two situations. Pierre went out of his way to make the team not like him. He gave bad setup advice (to the extent they barred him from setup decisions). He couldn't give constructive advice on development direction. He treated some of his lesser team members like shit and generally acted like a bit of a diva. And he wasn't getting the results... Albon isn't getting results, but his contributions to the team are well received. They are in the process of developing a different suspension designs with Albon. It might not save him, but it's certainly buying him time, time they couldn't afford to give Pierre.
@Nishant Kommineni i will delete my comment there. It's not going to help anyway. I am happy Pierre atleast recovered from this somewhat. Thanks for listening and thanks for warning me for legal actions. It was clear that there is just too much politics in F1. And hey i hope that your boy succeeds still but he has to toughen up now. Good luck with the marketingprogram and all that to buy him some more time. Hope it's enough. Btw am not buthurt by what happened. It made Pierre even better but don't be too kind on Alex bcs he has to be challenged and come out fighting too. He just has to actually deserve what he gets for once.
I think that the redbull car is just designed around Max and defo any driver that gets into the 2nd seat struggles. Albon and gasly is not the problem but the car.
It’s the team. Red Bull made themselves a one man team, by fully concentrating on Max and don’t giving a shit on Alex and Pierre. They are not as talented as Max and need the support to handle the pressure to secure finishes where the car belongs. They’ve made the same mistake with Albon again
@@Jussaa_16 I don't know which ep it is but i herd it of the afro guy sam Collins who does the practice day tech talk segment on the F1 channel, he said that the RB car has very heavy down force in the front and is very sensitive at back. Exactly how MaX prefers, and defo making it very hard to drive for albon as it is his second season. Even horner said it once I think!
How do you design a car for a driver ? You make biometrics and make the car twitchy if max is not driving ? The car is designed for a driver is a shit excuse, teams want to make the fastest car possible, this might end up being unstable like the current RedBull, which Max can drive around and be confident in It’s a driver gap in every sense of the word
Alex definitely needs more time to prove what he can do in red bull but I feel like Pierre should've gotten more time too. He had some consistent finishes mainly around P6-P10 with a few top 5's and yeah he had some hard races but he managed to finish most of them. Alex has gotten more top 5's then Pierre did last year I'm pretty sure but Alex in my opinion hasn't shown why he deserves the RB seat. He may have gotten a podium in Mugello, but half the field was out of the race. Still a strong drive from him but the results from Alex are the same, or worse than what Pierre showed in 2019 with his RB stint. I feel like both Pierre and Alex should get the Alpha Tauri drive for 2021 so they'll have equal equipment to see who the more consistent driver is/who should get the Red Bull seat for 2022
He have a good relation with Lewis outside the track ( very few driver are """close""" with Lewis ), Bottas will be out at the end of 2021, why not having pierre gasly in a Mercedes alongside Hamilton ?
I mean that can be unfair for Russel. They said they are waiting Russel to get better to give him a chance but if you give that second seatto Pierre at that state geroge might be the lost talent of f1. Still if hamilton and bottas gonna retire almost in the same time considering they are almost at same age, Pierre and George couple can be amazing to watch at Mercedes.
If anything, this all just makes Redbull and Horner look silly. These kids have all been part of Red Bull for YEARS. For them not to be able to identify, “who’s got IT”, for them to not be able to groom him properly in an undeniably high pressure situation, and then for them to clearly bail on him early.......yes, Pierre wasn’t performing up to expectations....but TBH, it just all feels a bit mismanaged. If you haven’t watched the French coverage of Gasly winning, its a must watch.
It really shouldn't be a problem. It's nothing to put them with a therapist in a room and sort things out. Don't forget, The Gov of France owns 50% or Renault, they'd kill for two French drivers.
Always felt bad for Gasly. He was a very young driver, not very seasoned in F1. Gets dropped onto a team next to Max Verstappen and rightfully struggled a little. Nonetheless consistently in the points. Had they gave him more or a chance I feel he could have been something special for RB
I'm surprised about the lack of comments saying that RedBull made their car specifically for Max. It is clear that isnt true. Max's teammates just underperformed massively, and according to Marko, its happening again with Perez. Although I dont think so, since It is only the 3rd race of the season after all. Both Alex and Pierre were clearly not fit for the RedBull. They performed well in AlphaTauri /Toro Rosso as that was a car they both felt comfortable in. They are both drivers with great potential and skill, but they break under the pressure of being in a top team, which is totally understandable. That is why I think George Russell is a formidable driver. He steps into a car he had no experience with, and outpaced a driver who had been at the team for years.
The more I look at data the more I think Alex performed well last Season because Ferrari fell off with the FIA engine directive, plus RB is famous for developping the car until very late in the season where they almost equal Mercedes on pace. Considering he had at least the 2nd fastest car, his perfomance becomes less impressive all of a sudden. Now that he has an early season, all over the place car like Gasly had, everything becomes clearer and we can draw a fairer comparison. That's just Data though. I don't hate on Alex but we maybe gave him too much credit too soon !
Ricciardo is showing everybody what a monster he is now. It was always going to take time for his replacement to get up to that level and Red Bull have failed their young drivers by expecting immediate results. It's taken Daniel 18 months to get to the level he's at now at Renault. Also don't think the red bull is actually that fast. Max is an alien.
When you were going through the Red Bull Gasly results, I was starting to think it wasn't that bad. Then you showed the gaps to Max in pace, and I remembered why. If the gap to the midfield wasn't as big as it was, he'd have been given the boot so much earlier.
First of all red bulls are the strongest towards the end, so Alex's performance compared to Pierre flattered to deceive. And BTW Riccardo beat max in 2016, 2017.
I've said it once I've said it again, when he made the move to red bull top team I was worried because he had such a good chemistry with the Toro Rosso team the year before. He think it's booted goes back down to a more familiar team again and starts performing great, that's not a coincidence.
If I was Renault I would have moved Heaven and Earth to get Pierre for 2021, a Young upcoming driver is, imo, the better option to an aging Driver who has been out of the sport for 2 seasons. (Plus before anyone comments on Ocon's relationship with Pierre, it's F1, to become a champion you have to get on with it and suck it up.)
I think Pierre will leave the Red Bull family for 2022, or maybe even 2023. Soon, either way. That fantastic 2020 season showed that he deserves a seat in F1, and if Red Bull won’t give him the top seat again, other teams will surely recognize his talent and bring him over.
If anything Albon’s had a worse season. The Red Bull team and car are so built around Verstappen and they’re just chewing up second drivers so I worry for who gets it next. Hopefully Perez or Hulkenburg stand up to them more
Drive to Survive season two really turned me off Christian Horner. Really hypocritical to hear him slag off Pierre for only scoring around P6-P8 in half a season and yet see Alex do pretty much the same job for almost a year (one podium in over a year's races :/) yet praise Alex for doing a great job.
Pierre needs to be brave & to tell Redbull to piss off. It's obvious him & Christian don't get on. He's a hot commodity & there a few good options. Alpine for sure.. 👍😊
Honestly, I really think that the biggest problem with RBR is their approach to their drivers. They allow Verstappen to mentally destroy teammates without intervention because Verstappen is the best racer on the grid and can go anywhere he wants and RBR know that, so they back off of disciplining him except for the few times he's made a mistake like Azerbaijan when he crashed with Danny Ric. If they keep going at the rate they are, they may as well just field Verstappen and nobody else, because it almost seems like they don't care about the second driver, whoever it is. the team just needs to reevaluate and be in the mindset that Max can't win a constructor's title on his own, he can only get 25 points maximum a race, and even then he has Mercedes to overtake. RBR needs to realise that by comparing Max to his teammate (who, lets face it, none of their realistic targets for a second driver will never be as good as max no matter how hard they try), they are literally siphoning away points from their own title challenge.
Anthoine is one of first ones to contact Pierre after the swap and told him "prove them wrong", just before Belgium GP. I personally believe Pierre felt he must finish what Anthoine want him to do.
Alpha tauri/Torro Rosso is where pierre in my opinion really belong thats the team that gave him his first drive in F1 his first points his first podium and now race win I say it right now Pierre Gasly and Alpha Tauri/Torro Rosso is a match made in heaven I just love that team.
Class video mate completely agree with you I wasn’t a massive fan of Pierre when he got the RB seat but still thought he had good potential. After Spa I could see a different side to him and could bear think what he was thinking for the rest of the 2019 season especially after when RB put him back in TR when Antoine said go prove them wrong. He is easily one of my favourite drivers now and when he got his P2 in Brazil I was just so happy for him. He is definitely driver of the year getting the absolute everything out of the AT and for his sake if he does move again mabye in 2022 to get out of the RB program because he will fly with someone like Racing Point.
Tommo mate, you really need to start putting these videos into an audio-only format! I watch these on the train and my data usage is on the verge of brink, but I just. Can't. Stop. Watching. anyways, excellent work as always, greetings from a portuguese fan, hoping for an awesome weekend in Portimão.
Pierre actually improved ,and in races that aren't difficult he performed, alex is getting only worse,he started good hes terrible now,id say they should call an experienced driver for that car There is hope for both but not in red bull
Not that Kyvat deserves to be out but I hope Gasly and Albon are at Alhoa Tauri next year and really perform. And I hope whoever ends up at Red Bull calls the team out more and they change this time
i think redbull was never behind pierre ..... albon got so much more support and he has 2nd best car on the grid has more experience in that redbull and yet hasn't performed .i think albon is over rated and he needs to be put back into alpha tauri so he can meet the expectation instead of putting tsunoda .let gasly and albon fight out in alpha tauri and loser gets sacked .
I think people tend to forget that Pierre really hasn't been in F1 for that long because he's already a very mature, well-rounded driver. That Red Bull car is just not compatible with his driving style, and the lack of support (and team drama according to recent rumours) wouldn't help his results either. I'm hoping Pierre makes the swap over to Renault/Alpine for an overall more competitive seat than AlpaTauri, and hopefully a more positive team environment
I still believe that Dani Ric leaving Red Bull was a terrible career decision. I understand that he was under a lot of pressure, and that he was not comfortable being 2nd driver, and the fact that as a viewer my POV is significantly limited. But in the end, Max and Dani was the dream team, and I believe given time the combo would have been as good as the current Ham + Bot
Good for whom? For Daniel, not so much, as long as the team continued to bet everything on Max. They need to decide if they want a steady wingman or another next-champion for that 2nd seat. Right now they have neither.
