Two of the greatest post-punk bands....longevity with both but quite different (Wire pretty much the same guys & The Fall a rotating cast of characters)
I used to work with the second drummer, Daren Garrett, such a great bloke (he was in The Nightingales too for a bit). I wondered how many double-drum parts are on Sub-Lingual Tablet or The Remainderer...both fucking fantastic records
M. E. Smith. Only the best post poet ever! Had a ticket for the sugar mill, but my ex bitch tore it up. Was no 14. Missed the best gig ever. R. I. P mes
My two favourite bands. I'm pretty sure they liked each other; or at least I once heard Marc Riley playing something from Read and Burn on R6 and saying after it simply: "Wire. The masters".
Having sold his soul a long time ago, Mark twiddled with the knobs in order to justify where he actually found himself in life. there was no turning back bt this stage.
+David Ames A venn diagram of fans of the Fall and Wire probably contains a hell of a lot of people in the universal set. I'm kinda sad this doesn't apply to either of you. Also, sad and perplexing as it is that this guy is not interested in the Fall (not a fan fair enough but not being interested in the Fall is hard for me to comprehend and suggests some kind of vitamin C deficiency) you can't compare one of the most awesome, influential bands Wire to Nickleback! That is seriously rude man and pretty dumb unless I've misunderstood your comment. You must listen to Pink Flag by Wire if you haven't already. In fact I command you and everybody else to buy it if you can and listen to it immediately! It is a must own record.
Me also! ! ive been a fan for over 30 yrs (old twat ) and they just got better and better, gutted to hear the tragic news yesterday, R I P Mark E Smith.x
