I'm watching Le samurai in a few minutes. I'll update the comment later. The update: Well, I'll be damned. You were all right god damn it! It's perfection. Everything that needs to be shown is shown. This is Bresson level of control. JP Melville may have directed some forgettable stuff but this redeems all of them! Thank you Kino gang for your accurate advertising.
Meh, not the best from France. If you don't mind subtitles i'd 100% advise "Un Prophète", "les Lyonnais" and "Borsalino" (as far as gangster movies go) For comedies definitly "Intouchables" (French one, not the Cosner movie), "Le Cerveau", "L'As des As", "OSS 117" or "La Folie des Grandeurs" Of course it's a matter of taste, but i've always been edging much more for Jean Paul Belmondo than Alain Delon, as both an actor AND a stuntman (except for car stunts Belmondo did all his stunts himself)
ON DAD, SARAH O’CONNOR IS LITERALLY ME. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH KINO !!!! 💛💛💛🥰💛💛💛 Waiting for your episodes of Twin Peaks or more neo-noirs. Have you reviewed Inglorious Bastards or have you seen Body Heat, it’s waaay better that Blue Velvet. 💋💐💐💐💋
Pointing out before watching the video, just been to see the movie and enjoyed the heck out of it ! Just a fun ride actually, with a very well acted and shot cinematography. Script is meh at best, but honestly very secondary to the charm of the cast and the crazy fun ride of the action. Do enjoy anyone who sees it !
Used to love the '80s Lee Majors show as a kid, though you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a Tom Selleck show from that clip. It had a good balance of comedy, drama and action.
What you're saying about the meta aspect is definitely true, but the film commits the cardinal sin of forgetting the number one rule: make sure that the surface story, the one that's out in the open, is entertaining and fun. Instead, we get a bunch of average (or even lazy) jokes and nods that even Ryan Gosling cannot save.
