Your videos are always awesome. I was wondering, have you ever done 3 draft booster boxes, vs 3 set booster boxes to see which has the greater value at the end of the 6?
I wanna volunteer to be a reader with you. We could start an MTG storytime for kids weekly or monthly thing. We could shorten the stories on the MTG site down to like a page or two and kids could listen for bedtime :)
hey Prof, I am looking at backing the Kickstarter, but I live in a far-flung corner of the world and want to know if there is a way to estimate shipping to avoid paying hundreds of dollars. Hope anyone reading this has a great day. :)
Man, when it rains, it pours on Ravnica. Having the vaccum that House Dimir's absence and Lazav's potential death would probably be catastrophic from a plane trying to recover from the Lazotep disco rave.
I mean, I highly doubt Dimir in its entirety has fallen. It's a conspiracy whose membership is burrowed deep into the fabric of Ravnican society. Agents in every guild, and everywhere else. (Not to mention what are probably countless members that, after the guild's public reveal about a century before current events, exist as part of House Dimir's public face as messengers, investigators, and archivists). Many of these people likely remain, insulated as they are through levels of secrecy, each agent only knowing their handlers, if anything at all. What House Dimir may have lost is its overall leadership. The spider(s) sitting at the center of this web, receiving all data and issuing all commands. Setting the guild's overall agenda. House Dimir members will likely continue carrying out their last orders. Many may not even be aware they're part of the conspiracy (like all those public facing people mentioned previously, who think they're exactly what they say they are). But without direction, the conspiracy as a whole may fall into disarray. Or worse, come under the thumb of new agents, looking to usurp the network for their own ends. Of course, given House Dimir's nature, it's likely this has happened many times before over the Guildpact's 10,000 year history.
@@TolarianCommunityCollege Awesome Prof. I love that you give just enough to really hook people into the story and to read the comics rather then just explain the full 10 issue spread.
Goah, i love Jed Mackay's writing. He's doing the current Moon Knight comic as well, which is fighting for Immortal Hulk for my favourite comic of all time.
Love the way you narrate the store line. Would love to see/hear more of this. I'm a truck driver who loves Magic since it's beginning. And watching videos isn't much of an option but listening is
Wonderful comics, actually, I've been loving the development so far, even if I'm not fond of the characters. Still, I can't quite get over how, literally days after I declared this comic the best Vorthos addition in 2021, I learn that it's non-canon.
Damn, it isnt? I guess it makes sense that they're not killing off a major Ravnican guild in a book only a fraction of a fraction of MTG players will read, or even know about. Still, its a bummer, as it kind of takes the wind from the sails of this story
@@niedude Yeah, they announced it in a livestream iirc. It's really unfortunate, because I really did like the story and I thought Jace's death was really well done.
@@The_Loreseeker I think the Vorthos community ought to just wrest control of canon from WOTC if they can't give us what we want and stick with it. A little creative anarchy, if you will. Domri would have wanted it that way.
To this day I'm not a BIG Magic player. I got into MTG because of the lore, and that's what I mostly follow on RU-vid and social media. This format of content for me at least then? AMAZING!!! Thank you Prof.!
Ravnica will always hold a place in my heart as the first set (well the Return to at least) I attended regular events at my lgs. Getting more stories from the plane makes me so happy, but I wouldn't have known about it without your vid. Thanks Prof
As someone who just got back into magic, but did play with ravnica plane years ago; This video hooked me! I was so engaged and invested! I was like “NOOOO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!?” That’s hard to do to me, so we’ll done professor!
Thatk You for making me Discover this line of comics! Really being back to the short stories that "sparked" the whole Bolas arc from the theft of the Dragon Scroll.
Normally I pay no attention to books or lore of any kind coming from MTG products lately. However, as Dimir is my personal favorite, I'm going to see if my LCS has these and buy the series. I highly doubt that Dimir is gone but it's always good to see what will influence upcoming sets. Ravnica is my favorite setting besides Mirrodin so I would find myself at a loss if my favorite guild didn't exist in the next related release.
I have been unable to find discussions of this comic series on any of the lore sites I frequent. I do hope you continue to cover the comics in this fashion because there are a couple of HUGE plot points coming.
Glad to see these comics getting the attention they deserve! I expected these comics to be just side adventures but some of these big twists have me wondering how it may tie into the upcoming sets.
Man, you have one of the best reading voices I've ever heard. The perfect blend of being calm and easy to hear while making the events feel important and interesting.
I love that you do this stuff can't wait to watch it! I am reading The Thran now on my journey through mtg novels before The Brother's War releases. I havent read any novel since Scourge so I wanted to go back through them. I wanted to support this content though
This is awesome! Hooked on the story and lore. I rarely comment and like videos (not that all your videos don’t warrant it) but this certainty deserved it in my eyes since I didn’t know how much I wanted this content. If Magic lore was always presented like this I would be way more into it.
Bought the hard cover a month or so ago and I really enjoyed it! The writing seems alot better than I expected, given the rocky history of the Magic story. The art is gorgeous, each page, maybe even each panel, has something worth spending a few moments to enjoy. I'm looking forward to reading the rest! (As long as wotc doesn't kill it before it's completed)
I love this series! I have been collecting every issue and I think it's great. Some more videos discussing this story would be much appreciated! Especially whether or not you think it will tie in to future sets.
That was a great visual/audio experience. Seems like a very compelling and fun story (It also helps that the Prof. has a great story-telling voice). Might have to try to find some copies of these comics. Keep up the great work Prof! (and maybe make some more videos like this?)
Wow. I love your content Prof but this video was especially fun! As a relatively new player to Magic, I haven't found a great way to engage with the lore, so this was a fun way for me to experience this!
I was excited to learn more about the Dimir lore and what happened to them, until I read that the comics aren't canon. As much as I like house dimir, I'd rather have acces to their real stories, not fanfictions
Bolas used the Dimir in gathering storm, Tezzert had his own dealings with Lazav in The Forsaken book. Even the writers can’t help but stamp the Dimir symbol on the first few comics they publish. I guess the other guilds can compete for 2nd place in relevance.
This was amazing and I wish that your deep dive didn't have to end here. I understand why it's just there are no comic bookstores near me. So I just don't have a way supporting any local stores and getting my hands on these. So i guess I'll have to wait for a friend to get one or for someone else to post something similar of the next parts online
