Shite this is embarrassing I liked kiss never heard of the fall . Later found some punks moved in with a mate and fall fan . Years later he died, and in the last two weeks I've bought a 5 album box set and 3 other cds . I guess I'm a fan now, " but I don't t have one leg and the road still hasn't been fixed and I still have to get In by half past six " Cheers Mark E S..
There is seriously nothing better than this band. Nothing. Last year I took my 16 year old daughter to see them in Tel Aviv and went backstage. I said my thanks, Smith gave me a beer and said " now drink that quick and fuck off with yer girlfriend " Love him.
Agree 100% I 'm really fond of this one especially because it contains not so much as songs as they are excursions. The tour was great that year also though not as good as the "Room to Live" tour
Fine piece of work, exquisitely fine. As per usual, worth listening out for are the peelsession versions. First aired March '83, officially released on the Complete... 1978-2004 compendium.
It's like the Cramps, without the goofy getup. I can see the influence on the Talking Heads, The Cult (Southern Death Cult, Death Cult), Jesus Lizard, and maybe a hundred other bands that just let their instincts take over. I discovered them 2 months ago, and can't get enough...
One of the most intelligent acts of their era (formed in 1976) in Prestwich, Lancashire UK. Founded by vocalist Mark E. Smith, his lyrics described by critic Simon Reynolds as 'a kind of Northern English magic realism that mixed industrial grime with the unearthly and uncanny, voiced through a unique, one-note delivery somewhere between amphetamine-spiked rant and alcohol-addled yarn - exactly the kind of style I absolutely loved back in the '80s when I began to listen to him and The Fall over here in New Zealand. (From Wikipedia): The Fall have been called "the most prolific band of the British post-punk movement."They have released thirty-one studio albums as of 2015, and more than three times that number when live albums and compilations (often released against Smith's wishes) are taken into account. They were long associated with BBC disc jockey John Peel, who championed them from early on in their career and described them as his favourite band, famously explaining, "they are always different; they are always the same".
The Fall - Perverted By Language - 1983 - full Lp. no point bandying monikers about, I have no idea who yer on about? was all artwork for fall records dun by his sister or missus, Suzanne, under various artistic nom de plumes? that dead Kennedy's album : give me convenience or give me death.. looks similar in scope to grotesque sleeve if divested of Winston Smith montage.. college centre piece..
@@grahambailey8995 I'm glad your enjoying The Fall and you've found your Fall album. I love Grotesque (after the gramme), Dragnet is a close second for me.
can't make up my mind on best albums,,,,,,, but Garden is a top tune. I went to Fall gigs all over the country till about 95..... Think M.E.S has lost his way now ..... big shame.
+William Burke Nah , they where better up to the early 90's , or mid 90's. Especially his voice. He gets more depressing in his interviews as time go's by. Sharp as fuck when he was younger. Sharp as a fucking egg now.
Gave me an album "Frightening World of The Fall" when I met him backstage at Hacienda, then grabbed a load of beer and fucked off his missus. Loved him too

@@alcoholya Heh, I guess we'd all have to ask Mark about that one....Not that he'd tell us, even if he were alive. @~@ I heard once that it was phonetic word play on some piece of West German youth slang, (popular in the early 80s I suppose) but I dunno for sure.
@@RonHarveySC I love everything from Bingo Master's Breakout up to and not including "The wonderful...." that's my favourite period of the band for sure.
I did like some of the tracks on the John Peel sessions before the album came out, but there was a sense of disappointment when the actual record appeared.
