When I was 8 I started a line of kids to go hug the green ranger. I vaguely remember just yelling "it's him!" and sprinting at him. As an adult it feels insane, but that was the spice of life as a 90's/00's kid. We loved our mascots.

This video hit different, and it hit hard. RIP JDF. I haven’t cried for much in my adult life, by I actually cried for that man’s passing… I just couldn’t fully articulate why. Thanks Gregory. Your video helps a lot.

We used to make up mythologies about purely imaginary gods for our idealized heroes, back when nobody ever saw any measurable fraction of what the world had to offer. This slowly evolved with public nobility spectacles and into the modern era of celebrity, as travel and communication increased, shrinking the world. Now, the art of puppeteering has been perfected by corporations dedicated to profit, who rally that impulse for idealized heroes around recognizable, marketable faces. Skeptic, Thank You so much for this. Im 42 years old, and I have clear memories of playing Power Rangers with my siblings and the neighborhood kids. And because we all wanted to be a PR, we had to come up with a story line that we were all under hypnosis and had to boss fight each other. Shit now I'm crying. I think an important takeaway from this is that the source of our meaning being fake/an illusion/farce doesn't necessarily require that meaning to stop being meaningful. JDF was the amazing and impactful role model he was because of dumb and fake reasons: the toys, etc. But the impact he made was still *really* felt by people all over the world despite that farcical underpinnings. An actor understands that all human interaction is acting and this actor chose to interact with humans compassionately in a way which was designed to be ridiculously extra from the start to make up for its context. Perhaps that's a sentiment we should imbibe.

It was scary. Seriously the day he was gone, and especially finding out how. After all those poetry readings, and msg. He never stopped being the hero. Seriously the idea of never turning on insta to see him encouraging everyone broke my heart. Like he was a champion of champions for the people. I hate how that ended. In the fandom, when an actor dies, it's painful. We still mourn for Thuy. I agree that what went down for Jason, should never be the case again at least to the degree it was taken to. I used to have a Tommy karate home exercise VHS when I was like 7. I loved the Power Rangers so much. I even have, packed away somewhere, a photo of the original cast all signed. Fun Fact: I gave myself whiplash when I was 7 by jumping off the top of the school jungle gym, about 10ft high, during recess imitating the iconic superman pose the Power Ranger did when they jumped in the air. I landed flat on my ass. Luckily it was sand and I had a *bit* of padding that probably saved me from breaking my spine somewhere o_o

Fun fact: In the original Japanese version, Burai (the green ranger) died and left his shield and Dragon Caesar to his brother (the red ranger). The character of Tommy became so popular that Toei had to record more scenes of Zyuranger after the show ended in Japan, just so Saban could have more footage to use for Power Rangers. As for the topic of discussion: Back in the day, I only knew Power Rangers through commercials from the USA and figurines my cousins had. In the case of the commercials they only showed a few scenes from the show of the rangers jumping around and doing poses (no Megazords were shown in these commercials) and that was enough for me to get my attention to watch this show someday. The show eventually came to my country dubbed in Spanish when I was in second grade, IIRC came out on a Thursday or a day close to the middle of the week, and became a sensation in the classroom at the next day, that's all the kids would talk about, and in recess we would all be playfighting with sticks and jumping from the benches in the schoolyard. I even became friends with a kid I had a bad relation with at school because we both loved PR so much and I still have a small toy bag he gave me in his PR-themed birthday he had that year. The show left such an impression in me that even though my parents couldn't afford the toys, after all those years I started collecting some of the zords from the first couple seasons when I started working.

I'm glad you're here, whoever you are. You mentioned at the beginning of this video that you were approached 3 or 4 times to join Hollywood or MTV or something and you turned them down every time. I'm glad you did. It is total corruption. I was also approached by certain elites of the so-called cabal because I do a lot of writing and I play guitar. They told me they could make my dreams come true but in order for that to happen, I would have follow their commands. They said I could write any kind of song I wanted but the packaging, the music videos would be totally under their control. They even threatened to make me wear a dress and make up. I couldn't believe what I was hearing because some of the "handlers" that were present when all this was being said to me were people I KNEW. When they say in movies like They Live starring Roddy Piper or Invasion of Body Snatchers that they are everywhere, it is absolutely true. They really are everywhere. Ice Cube recently released a video where he says they hate it when you don't want to be a part of their "club" and that's true, too. They are the masters of sabotage. They use mob mentality to suppress those they don't want to be vocal about what they are really doing. When I turned them down, they ordered a local street gang (which in my opinion are there true foot soldiers) to influence everyone else's opinion against me. I can't no longer live in the city I am from. I have been excommunicated in this way. You're not the only one, Armoured Skeptic, that turned them down. I did it, too and I paid the price. So, now my only medium available to me to voice these experiences is HERE on RU-vid comment sections. One more thing: These cabal types told me that they can influence the algorithms of social media. They said they can manipulate the algorithms to keep certain "types" of videos off of the general public's feeds. These "certain" types of videos would be the truly informative videos like yours. This is why it is so important for us who are the real truth seekers to watch, share and like these videos.

A similar phenomenon of hyperactive kids at school happened in Australia in the 1960s. "The Samurai" was a very popular show involving lots of sword fighting, the occasional magic and people jumping onto roofs. There was blood and gore too. Some adults, (especially ones who had fought the Japanese) were outraged. As a considerably older person I can still watch it with enthusiasm, only this time I watch it in Japanese with English sub titles.

The 80s were the shit. Saturday mornings were highly anticipated when I was growing up with all them old-school characters. I fell into the hypnotic hype of He-Man, GIJoe, Transformers, and Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling. I graduated high school in '92 The power rangers was ffunny and new to me. I noticed how the characters changed over that time period and I thought "what is this crap why keep change the characters?" I didn't know the back story about the P.R. legacy. Thanks for sharing 👍

I never watched power rangers didn't like it growing up. But my friends and little cousins did. But very sad that he passed away. I do remember his face from the ads for power rangers . I also remember the moral of the story kids in the cartoons back then like captain planet ect.

Jdf was ready to leave after zeo but agreed to stay till half the season. This was 35 or so years ago.They asked him to come back for a season years later and three specials. He went to conversation othen which had nothing to do with the studio. Power rangers wasn't why he did what he did. He was free of the entertainment world as you put it. The only projects in entertainment he's done in the last few years is one anniversary episode of power rangers and a indie project by many actors of power by a RU-vid creator. He was doing fine with his own dojos and merchandise. Your presenting a lot of assumptions as fact here.

Yeah, I’m a little older than you, so I remember Saturday morning cartoons in their heyday. Eventually, in my teenage years, children’s cartoons in general became a little more than 30 minutes advertisements for toys. Ironically, it was the popular cartoons, once upon a time, that decided which toys got made. A decade later, it was popular toys that decided which cartoons got made! And you’re so right about how condescending and belittling advertisers in general are, and I felt the same way you did about advertising targeted to me as a child; I felt like they were insulting my intelligence, and trying to manipulate me even back then as a kid.

I've been watching you since around 2015 or so, and I'm glad that you still put so much of yourself into your work... Also, I'm glad that you're still working on your channel. Keep up all the great work, man.

I totally hear you. And I had a similar experience with the Transformers. Around 85', everybody in school were raving about those robots that could turn from cars and jets into characters tall as buildings. And they were convinced that I'd go completely NUTS if if watched it. Well... I did watch it, and I totally fell in love with it. But even in hindsight, I still think that especially Optimus Prime was a great role model. I know millions of boys world-wide who - like me - grew up without a father, deeply embraced that character. And for all it's cheese, there were some great lessions to be learned. The two-parter "Megatron's Masterplan" presented me with the concept of propaganda. Imagine that. In a kid's cartoon. Also, Peter Cullen who voiced Optimus has said in many videos that he's not happy how they handled Prime in the Bay movies, and that they basically put words in his mouth he didn't want to say. So on the one hand, everything Bayformers could NOT destroy OG Optimus, and the fact that Peter has kept his credibility shows that (to me at least) that even in the rotten world of corporate cartoons and characters, there were some gems to be found. Optimus Prime was one of them. And I'm glad my school mates told me about him.

The first season (63~ episodes) ended with Tommy getting his freedom. Even back when it aired i said that it couldn't be topped and I wasn't going to watch any more of the power rangers stuff. And it all turned to shit afterwards, but that's fine. I still have fond memories of the stupid storylines and the cheesiness being immeasurable but everytime I think about it that fucking guitar starts blasting in my head and it's all forgiven. The fact that the formula pretty much always was the same didn't bother me much either.

That’s not what happened to David Yost. He left of his own will because the crew was insanely homophobic to him. Besides, he was like the core member of the team to leave. Also, JDF loved the PR franchise and constantly returned when he was asked. Also, he wasn’t fired from turbo, he originally wanted to leave after Zeo, and the producers managed to get him on for 19 more episodes so that they had time to find a replacement. I agree with a lot of the points you said, but to say he died for a toy is insanely reductive and your video shows a clear misunderstanding of the history of Jason and the franchise that just seems disrespectful.

A Rabbi once told me in Abrahams times they would prop up people to be like gods. Every time would fall into despair, crushed by the weight of being a god when they were just people. When the commandment's where carved on Mount Sinai forbidding Idols, it wasn't just the golden calf it meant. But these men and women as well. When God said there shall not be any false idols before me, it wasn't for any selfish reason. The reason was to spare these people the weight of being like God. Why would God be jealous of a man or a golden Calf?

You went so far as to say you were even skeptical of reality but you have to make certain concessions to keep yourself from completely losing it. Do you have any idea what that video is?

have you heard the story of the kid who was the antagonist in "SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISHER" ? Like River Phenix he sems to have been hand picked by the Holywood elite. Weird story how they tell the movie and how he ended up in a symbolic last movie and perished.

At the top of the year, I did a video talking about Jason's death and paying tribute to one of my favorite moments of him as Tommy from Power Rangers. In fact, I even thought about following up on that with more videos as I worked through the grieving process. Now don't get me wrong; I know what Power Rangers was - a means by Bandai to sell toys to American Children. I know it was a glorified toy commercial, but I think the series was entertaining enough on its own, and I never really got any of those toys anyway. I did listen to a lot of Jason's interviews before he passed - I was kind of shocked and upset to learn that even after 25 years, the show-runners _still considered_ him to be a "Helmet-Head" as they called it - as in, he was interchangeable and expendable; all they needed was a man in the suit. But Tommy jumped through hoops because he was hoping that they would greenlight some of his own projects if he played ball with them. it's part of the reason why he was doing "Legend of the White Dragon." Now personally, I think the real thing that drove Jason to do this was the drama with his _Wife._ it's basically come out that she was emotionally, psychologically and even physically abusing him. And she even had him served with divorce papers _at the convention,_ while he was signing autographs. And his body was found shortly after. But this gives me a new perspective; what happens to a man when they play this icon for their entire lives...and especially when they believe that icon is a lie. But I choose to have a different perspective. I see it as, despite how Saban/Disney/Saban-again/and now Hasbro has treated the series as nothing more than a vehicle to sell toys...the Emotions that we feel for the characters _are real._ And Jason knew the responsibility he had in living up to the legacy and example of Tommy Oliver. This was a guy who would never turn his back on his fanbase, and seemed to love playing the role. (Even so much, that he admits to hating Lord Drakkon for what it did to Tommy's character.) As far as I'm concerned, the False Idols were only the Corporations who sought profit. But Jason David Frank _was Tommy Oliver,_ and he showed that time and time again. And regardless of anything that might come out...I will still miss him.

God, I'm so sad about JDF. I was so obsessed with Power Rangers as a kid, he was my hero.

Incidentally, this is not entirely mutually exclusive. He was still an inspiration to many, and will continue to be such for as long as he is remembered. What happened to him was a tragedy, and I agree it shouldn't be allowed to happen again. But that doesn't change how I will remember him. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.

The worst thing that prolly did it for him was when they heard how he was for years wanting to do a for the fans movie similar to the netflix special. Then never contacted him to do it until he went "fuck it" and started working on his own movie "Legend of the White Dragon." They quickly then rushed to get the netflix special made in spite. Legend of the White Dragon is a finished movie just sadly JDF wont be there to make it the trilogy he wanted it to be.

I mean sentai includes these messages and is meant just to sell toys. This is just grafting american cultural standards to something outside their culture. No one over there has the same cult of personality like jdf does.

Comapred to today, the writing, ethics and morality of He-Man, GI Joe or Transforners is pretty good. Don't blame us who loved it, just like we wont blame you for loving Power Rangers. I was too old to dig Power Rangers anyways by the time it came out. However, JDF was the only power ranger cast member I ever recognized by his face abd had been aware of JDFs issues. Was sad to hear he chose to leave us, however it is understandable. Depression and issues over who u are and ur purpose in this life is something many people deal with - not to mention, in Hollywood ur dealing with souless people every day.

I would have liked to see the Green Ranger’s breakdown of how he was like the devil, but for those that grew up with or watched the show we all know that’s what his character was.
