The Founder of the soul train line dancers is dead. Yes Don Cornelius is dead of apparent suicide. Soul Train the famous television Music dance show featuring classic soul and disco inspired a generation of youth and teens in black america and was a major influence on pop music and dance. soultrain was the hippest trip show and it's soul train line dancers were the most imitated by black and white youth. Black music dance would never be the same. The famous pop music show featured singers like Aretha Franklin,Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and Jackson 5. The entertaining african american dance show which won many awards ,ran from 1971 to 2006. It watched by most american youth in the 70s and 80s. The Soul train awards is a big event annually.

Rip Don . You enspired so many youths in the days you walked this earth . Truly a man amongst men . This 60 yr was lucky to grow up under such an icon as this man . Oh yeah I'm white dude btw.. Iconic show . We all were blessed in this time.. No internet . No 500 stations on the tube .. No cell phones and we did just fine .. Saturday morning was a day I looked for so I could tune in to this show of shows . Great in every way

Yo, I absoulutly love this. Soul train was the numbner one distractor of Saturday afternoon activity. These dancers were roll models in the 70's. Hats off the Don! He created this Soul Train and his ideal was a winner. This show classic show was very important for the black people at the time. There needs to be as show like this for today's young people so they will understand the impact of recording the music and dance of their time. The dances and dress look old now they were hot before.

I'm not even Black but I loved Soul Train as a Little Boy just as much as any Black Man(Or Woman), if not more. I always turned it on Every Saturday Afternoon. I always looked at it as the Black Version of American Bandstand, since Dick Clark was so very popular. Soul Train always came on after American Bandstand on KHJ Channel 9 - Los Angeles. And later that night, it's "The Real Don Steele" playing more of this Funky Beat.

This is when people dressed so you knew when they were going out or to the club. And no one hugged the wall whether you were a great dancer or not you were out there enjoying yourself. And people were more of individuals when they dressed and or made their own clothes that was the sewing generation if you did not sew you knew someone who did to make you an outfit. Almost everything today is a bodycon dress so everyone looks the same.

Bahahaha! Editor sure! Anyway I feel the cuts are actually well done. It's not a showcase of what the dancers of doing but of the line dancing itself. You're focusing too much on what you want to see instead of seeing what you are shown! I'm an editor too, numerous AMV's and an actual video when I was in high school. All set to music.

At 0:37 or 0:38 young man in brown tank top, I swear its the actor that played the youngest son on Good Times, I have replayed this and replayed this and , I am not seeing things, its him, plays J.J.'s little brother Michael on the show. Can anyone one else see it, or am I Kra Kra.. Anyway I love locking and popping and noticed how many dancers from Soul Train were influenced by Don Campbell, and the Electric Boogaloos. I know everyone of The Lockers danced on the Train before they became the group except for Toni Basil, and I see everyone both guys and ladies all doing Locking moves and later on they were putting popping into their dancing, but that how much these dances took hold of the crowd. Today these dances are all over the world..being done by dancers young and old. Its crazy how much these dances mean in other Countries, its almost like they were conceived everywhere else but the USA. BUT ,No they are ours . I was in Japan, and Paris on vacations over the years, and the levels of Locking and Popping in those Countries are ridiculous, even little kids can Lock and Pop. But Tony "GoGo" Lewis from second grouping of the Lockers opened up a Locking School in Japan I believe in 1982 when he moved there, he is the father to the famous GoGo Brothers(sons), his daughter dances also, as GoGo Family. Also after he learned locking, he got a group together and was the first group to perform professionally for the public before the Lockers got together. But it still started with Don Campbell and done on Soul Train by individuals and around different clubs as everyone was learning, but when Toni Basil got interested in this new dance, with her experience in that platform of entertainment. She convinced Don to start his own group... and it was she who clued Don Cornelius into how important this dance was and that with The Lockers put together, he should pay them, and that was the last day for Don Campbell on Soul Train, her was not allowed on the lot. Later tho I guess the dance became too big and Mr. Cornelius asked The Lockers back on the show to perform. At least thats the way I was told by some people who had been around at that time that it went down. So it was Toni Basil, not Don Campbell who saw the importance and popularity of this dance he created and because of her knowledge and experience in the field of Dance and Entertainment knew that this group deserved to be recognized and paid, but Mr. Cornelius was a stubborn man. And as they say the rest is history....Or so its been told to me, I kind of believe it tho...
