Cutting sugar is important, but less for weight reasons and more for health reasons. You will definitely lose weight doing it too. Most people eat WAY more sugar than they should in a day

@farhan007
@farhan007 Месяц назад
@@forstuffjust7735 of course. But the volume required is much larger than a cheesecake for example. And the fruits come with fiber that absorb some of that sugar where it all doesn't get into your blood stream like most sweet deserts that don't have any fiber and all that sugar gets into your blood stream. It's a lot harder to have a calorie surplus with fruits compared to bakery type desserts like brownies, cookies, cheesecake etc. And it's very easy to drink calories so sugary fruit juices there have a lot of added sugar are probably the worst. The fiber is also removed from those sugary fruit juices.
@forstuffjust7735

@@farhan007 ofc. The same applies to carbs though, cutting out carbs helps not because carbs are inherently evil, but because they are calorie dense. If we are ranking sugary stuff, sodas are the first one should limit consuming.

I've done keto and lost the same 40 lb twice I finally decided to try a calorie deficit and so I bought Dave's killer bread and still have super healthy sandwiches with avocado and veggies and chicken and tuna. I also have popcorn but I stay away from sweet treats, pastries. I will eat whole grain hamburger buns etc. I finally feel like I'm living a moderated life and it works so much better for me than trying to cut out ALL carbs!! Now when I get to my goal weight I'll just keep eating like I'm eating now with more calories. I feel like a normal person again I can go out and eat with my friends and just pick and choose from the menu what fits in my calorie budget. Right now I'm losing weight like crazy I walk an hour every day it's just so much better for my mental health too.

Reducing carbs and refine sugars is a good thing, but I can’t eliminate carbs altogether. It’ll make me feel weak, which then impacts my workouts. When I add in the quality of my workouts, I think I lose weight more on a small carb diet. It gives me enough energy to push through.

Great advice. If you work out regularly you need energy from carbs. Low carb is fine, coupled with little to no refined sugars. After this single week, I feel way less bloated and overall lighter. Currently, for breakfast, I drink a smoothie that is made of green grapes, granny smith apple, spinach, oatmeal, and Greek yogurt. For lunch, I have a spinach chicken salad with a side of blueberries. For dinner, I eat chicken, mixed veggies, and cherries. I'm down 120 lbs. Went from 270 lbs to 150 lbs. I feel great.

Signs of a Working Conscience There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. -Proverbs 14:12 You’re never going to stop sinning as long as you’re breathing. But there’s a difference between being a sinner and living in a pattern of sin. And if you’re a true Christian, you won’t live in a pattern of sin. The Bible says, “Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God” (1 John 3:9-10) For example, if you’re a Christian and start to contemplate doing something that is sinful, and you’re aware that it’s wrong, that is a good sign. It’s good to come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit. And if you end up doing the wrong thing anyway and then feel deep guilt afterward, that, too, is a good sign. It means that your conscience is working. Our consciences are like smoke alarms. The purpose of a smoke alarm is to alert us to danger, or the need to change the battery. In the same way, our consciences tell us that what we’re doing is wrong. However, you need to be concerned when you can contemplate a sin and don’t feel any conviction about it. You also need to be concerned when you can go through with that sin and don’t feel any guilt whatsoever. That means your conscience isn’t working. When God deals with us when we go astray, it’s an indication that we are children of God. The writer of Hebrews said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child” (12:5-6) The fact that God convicts you and that He disciplines you when you have gone astray says that you are a child of God. If your children do something wrong and you discipline them, you’re simply doing your job as a parent. That is your responsibility. However, if someone else’s children misbehave, that is not your responsibility. Their discipline is the responsibility of their parents. In the same way, God disciplines us because we are His children, and He loves us. Maybe you’ve been doing some things you shouldn’t be doing, and you’ve sensed the discipline of God in your life. Or, you’re feeling guilty. If so, rejoice. It means that your conscience is working. When you don’t feel the guilt anymore, when you can sin again and again and feel nothing, that means you’re getting a hardened heart. The Bible warns, “There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death” (Proverbs 14:12) If you feel guilt for your sin, here’s what you need to do: Go to Christ. He will forgive you. That is why He died on the cross.

This applies when all things are equal but when you are insulin resistant things become more complicated. Till I was 30 it was all about calories in and calories out and just add protein and exercise. Then came the switch that seemed to go off and it seemed if i looked at food I would gain fat. I have tried the path of just moderation and portion control and then adding biking, swimming, lifting weights, splitting 30 cord of wood every year for 6 years, grass cutting, whipper snipping. Yes it all helped but even when I doing wood all summer on a keto diet and mostly drinking Gatorade zero and water and a few eggs and sandwich throughout the day… I still struggled with getting the weight down or keeping it down. I would watch 110 lb women bouncing back after have kids and eating whatever they wanted and eating more calories than me at 200lbs with muscle and constant manual labor… I was saying no to sweets and chips etc.. They could eat all they wanted. Those who say it is just calories in and calories out haven’t lived in others shoes.

So keeping insulin low helps lose weight quicker. Obviously calories count too. For those that still don’t see the point, check out Prof Ben Bikman’s lectures 💪🏼

The primary value that I found in low-carb dieting was that it locks out like 90%+ of calorically dense foods. For me, at least, it's never really been about the carbs. It's that a burger bun is often like 2/3rds of the calorie content of the burger, and 2 oreos have the same calories as a small meal. It was just easier to say "have none of this" than "have a little bit of this." Fixing macros could could come later, my obesity was an immediate health concern. 100 lbs in a half year, though. Losing water weight quickly is extremely motivating for the average person & is exactly what many overweight ppl need. Those first 10 lbs gone gives you a big confidence boost. What many ppl struggle with is being so hungry while in a calorie deficit & reverting to their old eating habits. But Eating low carb makes you stay full A LOT longer and takes away your junk food/sugar cravings. That alone changes the game while being in a deficit & makes it 100 times easier. People don’t just get excited about losing water weight, but at the fact that they’ve finally found something sustainable for the long term that gives them control over their cravings for the rest of their lives.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: No, despite what you might’ve seen on some Instagram page or Netflix documentary, carbohydrates themselves are not inherently fattening on a calorie for calorie basis. Carbs contain calories just like any macronutrient and so they can certainly contribute to a calorie surplus (the actual cause of fat gain) if you’re consuming large amounts. However, when total calories are equated carbs do not lead to greater net fat accumulation. Not only that, but most typical foods people think of as “high carb” (cookies, donuts, pastries, cakes, muffins etc.) are high in both carbs AND fat. In other words, they’re just high calorie in general. This doesn’t mean low carb is “bad”, and if you personally prefer a lower carb diet and feel good physically and mentally that way, go for it. But at the same time, there’s no need to go out of your way to restrict carbs unless you have a specific reason for doing so. When it all comes down to it, what truly matters for losing fat while maintaining muscle (or possibly gaining depending on the conditions) is that you create a calorie deficit while consuming sufficient protein. As long as you’re doing that, the specific macro breakdown you use is a secondary factor and should be primarily based on what you can most easily adhere to. Regardless of what anyone tries to tell you, net energy balance (calories in vs. calories out) is still the underlying principle that governs overall fat loss/fat gain - not any one particular macronutrient or food group.
@Acoto
@Acoto 3 месяца назад
Its easier to feel satiated on fats and proteins than carbs for an equal amount of calories. Different macronutrients have different effects on hormones and so different effects on your brain and satiation. While you're correct from a thermodynamics perspective people's have to still actually maintain the deficit, and your brain and hormones are going to work against most people more when on high carbs vs high fat and high protein.
@Brometheus420
@Brometheus420 3 месяца назад
The problem is high carb diets on people that do not exercise. Not burning glycogen means excess carbs get turned into triglycerides so you might as well be eating fat instead. Fat people are insulin resistant, period. Eating refined carbs all the time makes you insulin resistant how an alcoholic becomes resistant to alcohol. Being insulin resistant makes you require more insulin which means insulin levels stay elevated longer. In the presence of insulin, hormone sensitive lipase can NOT pull fat from storage to burn for energy. If you snack on carbs every 3 hours, you are constantly preventing your body from burning fat for energy. Even worse, if you are eating low calorie pure carb foods, you can use up the energy from the carbs and still have elevated insulin levels. If you run out of glycogen, and have elevated insulin preventing the burning of fat; your body can actually cannibalize muscle to use for energy. Fasting helps reduce insulin spiking, allows your digestive system to settle, and allows your body to break down fat for energy uninterrupted. When you do eat, try keeping meals under 100g of carbs. If you are obese try to limit each meal to 1 carb item and don't drink any liquid carbs. If you want to eat more carbs then you need to exercise. Flour is 90% as bad as sugar. Anything processed gets into your blood faster. Raw fruit the sugar is bound in fiber and at least slows the release into your blood. Pureeing basically turns it into soda and exposes the nutrients to oxidation. You don't have to stop eating them altogether (unless you are diabetic, it can be reserved by cutting all carbs). Just realize that they are unhealthy, and that fat or protein is healthier. Unless you exercise in which case you actually use glycogen reserves for energy. Supposedly the ranges of glycogen men store is 250-450g and women is 175-350g. More muscles = more glycogen storage. You don't need 450g unless you are Eddie hall, and even then 450g is 1800 calories worth of glycogen. You probably aren't fully depleting reserves without session that are a few hours long.

@@Brometheus420 Good explanation. Fitness influencers always discount the effect of hormones. Storing fat is an entirely different matter than burning fat, because insulin your body only uses insulin to store fat when we overeat. The idea that when we avoid carbs, our insulin levels are lower, and so we can more easily shed fat cells because we are reducing the level of the hormone that made the fat in the first place, is simplistic. Your liver will make glucose from whatever it has available. Yes, there are bigger blood sugar spikes when we eat a lot of junk food all at once, but that doesn't necessarily make us gain weight. Your system will make fat cells and send insulin to store them in your tissues, from whatever it was that you had just eaten that was in excess of what your body needed to operate. Not specifically carbs.

For example, if I'm going to eat, I don't allow the first 3-5 signals; ie, hunger pangs. So there's that coupled with my comment. I also eat what breaks down fast, and eat on the slower side. As soon as I eat 3/4 bites, I'm already feeling it change. And font be afraid of fat, BUT use it like a supplement. There's also DNA involved. If you're large framed, and have a big round head, you can't intake what a thinner person does. Your default isn't set that way. "Wiry" guys don't work like thick-boned individuals. Many factors involved, and I think what most get wrong is hearing a rule and separating it from context of all the other considerations -- as a unit. One rules effects all other rules, and connects FROM other rules. For you, I'd say you store more. That should be easy to catch and simply adjust. You'll have to stress your body to alter what it does and how it responds. However, don't stack the fats; avocado, nut, etc, together in one day?? I wouldn't. Let your body "read" them and figure out which one feels like it's satisfying your blood. The idea is to convert food to glucose. So I'd recommend combining a starch (potatoes, rice) with a meat choice (beef, pork). Stay away from things like breads and noodles in high amounts, but if you use them, maybe use them on a cheat day and as a side dish rather than a while meal. And be sure the proportions of , say, pasta, is only about 22-25% if you gain weight from storing your food. And when you lose "weight, remember that you're not. You're reducing unwanted mass. If you want a good cleanse, I can give you something that works too, but you still have to note what's up with how your body responds with each shift in what you're doing. So I'm not really wrong unless you think I'd isolate my view. I don't do that. Oh, and avocado is almost like meat the way I supplement it. I a

@@motherclucker1235 Protein wasn't the issue. I was 190 pushing 240-280 grams of protein per day during my keto trial. Lost the muscle because my cut was too aggressive and I lost an entire biological mechanism for preventing catabolism because I wanted to try something new. I had no carbs which meant no glucose to spike insulin and help spare some precious muscle. Protein was definitely not the issue during that phase. I was eating plenty of it for my weight at the time because I couldn't backfill my calories with carbs once my protein goal was met, so had to eat more protein to feel full. Not to mention my workouts suffered due to a lack of glycogen because again, no carbs. Always felt flat and couldn't really push as hard during workouts. Reintroduced carbs and the above issues pretty much vanished. Still lost a little muscle but not at the same rate as on keto. Major point being, everyone always says eat more protein, however, during a cut you're always going to lose SOME muscle tissue regardless of your macros but you'll lose MORE if you cut carbs completely because you're annihilating an entire pathway for protein sparing during a weight loss phase by removing carbs. It's important to recognize the synergy of the biological mechanisms at play for each macro being in a healthy range during a cut. In my opinion you need all of them to be optimal. The body has many mechanisms for preventing catabolism besides just breaking down protein into amino acids. Tldr protein wasn't the issue carbs were. Free biology lesson I guess.

Lets get this straight. If you understand how blood glucose works, which you clearly don't, you know that you want it stable. It's essentially blood sugar. How do you maintain a stable blood glucose level? You cut out carbs and replace it with fat. Ketosis. Eating carbs causes an insulin response, which in turn causes blood glucose to spike. The crash from this causes a hunger response. Keep the blood glucose stable (keto) and you don't feel hungry. This is why so many people lose weight on keto: they simply don't feel hungry.
@MustardSkaven

It is one of two primary mechanisms - the other being degradation of glycogen (glycogenolysis) - used by humans and many other animals to maintain blood sugar levels, avoiding low levels (hypoglycemia).

I think low fat is better. Because our muscles need carbs for energy, not fat for energy. If we take low carbs, we'll lose muscle before losing fat. It just takes time for our muscles to get rid of excess fat. The extra fat also causes various health issues. So, taking carbs for energy is better than fat.
@NotOomay
@NotOomay 2 месяца назад
Wrong. Insanely wrong. First of all, you'd have to absolutely STARVE yourself to deplete your muscles. Secondly, your body adapts to burning fat for fuel instead of carbs JUST fine. There is verifiable proof that has been shown for decades. From athletes to bodybuilders to medical doctors. Healthy fats do NOT cause "various health issues" You're spewing nonsense. Stop that.

Cutting sugar is good for weight loss and most importantly for health reasons. You can look great on the outside and your body is sick on the inside. Sorry but Cutting carbs will help you lost weight fast. I do agree with the fact that less calories will help you lose weight also. But carbs is not necessary at all not even for energy as so many say.

Lowering simple carbohydrates yes, but must have complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates keep blood glucose and energy good because they have more molecules to break down. Simple carbohydrates typically are single molecules that spike everything for a moment then crash.

I went Keto for four weeks. Lost 16 pounds but got stuck. I work out six days a week trying to be in calorie deficit. Decided I’m going back to regular food but trying to stay calorie deficit as I did before Keto. I’m down 45 pounds overall. In the end it’s all about diet and exercise. The sad truth.

Not sure if you’re still doing keto but everyone goes through a plateau.. for me it happens after every 30 days of continuous ketosis, where I stop loosing weight. I intentionally kick my body out of ketosis by eating a few slices of pizza then bam my body gets shocked into doing its keto thing again. Hope this helps.
@Ruthlessbone
@Ruthlessbone Месяц назад
At the end of the day, you have to stay consistent and trust the process. Alot of people give in and think they need a trainer but most people just give up becuase they hit a "plateau." Yes, your metabolism may slow down when you get to your last shed of pounds but eventually, it will wear off.

@ThatNikoLove
@ThatNikoLove Месяц назад
@@GailPergent yes at the end of the day definitely its cutting calories and to cut all carbs (like all of them) i try to have less than 10 a day at most..only getting few from creamer and vegetables. Simple math..3500 cal= 1lb. So eating less calories but also eating enough fats, proteins for my recommended body weight to maintain maximum keto effectiveness. Last thing you want is your body to go into starvation mode that’ll really slow things down. * and no I was eating unhealthy till one day I threw everything out and went healthy shopping. Took a few days ti enter into ketosis but it kicked my sugar addiction and am still dropping weight with minimal exercise due to a hernia.

Easiest way to mantain a caloric deficit is to cut out sugar and carbs.
@Someone25948
@Someone25948 3 месяца назад
Low simple carbs is however a good thing for many people because simple carbs have a high glycemic index which means they spike and crash insulin levels a lot, which causes a high spike in hunger hormones after just a few hours of eating these foods. As a treat or cheat meal is fine but try not to eat these regularly during a cut as they make you more hungry and make cutting unnecessarily tougher
@rdeli8678
@rdeli8678 2 месяца назад
Cutting carbohydrates can be highly effective for weight loss, particularly because many individuals attempting to lose fat may have some degree of insulin resistance. Research supports this approach; a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found that low-carb diets can significantly improve insulin sensitivity and lead to greater weight loss compared to other dietary strategies. Personally, I have experienced more rapid weight loss on a ketogenic diet compared to simply maintaining a caloric deficit. Therefore, I believe that combining a low-carb approach with a caloric deficit is optimal for weight loss.

@@icanmanifest it’s not nonsense. That’s what the science day. I can also lose weight with a higher carb diet. Overall volume of food still matters. Dude. You’re arguing with the established science. Read a medical textbook. There is no fat gain without insulin. That’s why type 2 diabetics waste away despite eating more. You can lose weight on an all-rice diet and even reverse diabetes on said diet. It doesn’t mean that the insulin model is wrong or the carbohydrates insulin model of obesity is wrong. Open a medical textbook and read the effects of insulin on enzymes like hormone sensitive lipase.

I also find that a low carb diet is less sustainable than a calorie deficit since it’s a important macro in general and a deficit still allows you to eat the foods you like ( in moderation); as long as the deficit isn’t too extreme of course.

I lost 13kg in 2 months on a animal diet. Everything animal protein together with 1 fruit after each meal, and honey in my coffee. Went from 102kg down to 89kg in 2 months. I ate about 5000-5500cca per day and my sport was playing on PlayStation. I did it 2 times already and always under the supervision of the doctors and bloodworks to check the blood values, insulin resistance etc. Never felt better in my entire life. Testosterone was back, sex life was booming. So many health problems disappeared. No more headaches, no more snoring. No more hurt burns. Many chronic diseases just disappeared. It's not just about losing weight. But I was HEALING!!! But I'm a nobody. No influencer. Not trying to convince you. I convinced myself by experimenting on myself instead of listening to all your opinions.

"Hydrate" just means that the molecule contains hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrate in carbohydrate is not water. It's actually OH-, and it's tightly bound in the molecule by covalent bonds.

I've done all the diets, all of them. They all work, except I couldn't ever stick to any long term because it was a diet mindset - restrictive - temporary etc etc. Wanting fast results has got me back to where I started, overweight and insecure. So, now I am starting a new journey with no macro restrictions, no counting every ounce, no going HAM, instead a new lifestyle where health is the ultimate goal with weight loss being the benefit. Incorporating fasting seems to be the best approach to be in a calorie deficit. Let's see how this goes! I will record and post my progress on YT
