Just remember - 95% of the gains you’ll make come from doing the simple, repetitive tasks day in and day out All the fancy training, supplements, or other “hacks” will not make up for failing to perform the fundamentals I hope this video serves as a refresher of the basics, in addition to teaching you some other gems to maximize your training What is YOUR action item from the video?

@permortensrli1315 7 месяцев назад
My action item: Keep grinding that grind (zone 2 (with the occasional (about 20%) high intensity training). Steady state forward.

This is a really good channel with some real truths. I’m a bit in limbo myself. I served in the Marines as an 02 and got out last decade - and had to figure everything out overtime myself to start life again by myself (career, house, school, all responsibilities/obligations and that revolve around that. I got so out of shape and gained weight. I was never like this and was extremely fit and athletic (some of my vet friends saw me throughout the years and their jaw-dropped that I was the last person they expected to derail) I still have this burning desire to serve in some capacity in the reserves, but particularly try out for Recon selection (I served with friends that were Force Recon Marines and they always urged me to try out since I’m pretty much a fish in the water!) it’s crazy because I’m 5’7, 205lbs and can pass all the swimming events of selection without the utilities on. It’s just so tough sometimes to find the drive and motivation when everything in life hits you every single day. We’ll see. Anyone out there trying for some kind of selection - keep at it!

Yeap.. coke and snicker bars instead of steak and eggs. Lol! 😊 better yet, just potatoes with super sweet tea! Protein and fats are a joke. LOL! 😂 Of course,what do I know? At near 60,I can still pass the Rangers ruck test. My running is off some; but, that could be due to my knee and ankle is full of steel. So, rucking 80lbs for 1.5 hrs 2to3 times a week has to do. I am increasing it to 100lbs at the end of the month. If they would let me, I would try out for selection again just to see what a old man could do. I was branded once and have great memories. Very few youngons have heart anymore.

One of the hardest things for me to accept rn is that my training needs to change for the military and i have to be okay with leaning down and losing some muscle mass to gain a shit ton of cardio and endurance. I’ve trained for size and strength for years and it’s all I’ve known so obviously my cardio has suffered

New to rucking. Pack weighs 35Ibs for now. Just did a full hour at an average pace of 4.55mph (13:11/mile). I notice my calves are burning for the first 15 minutes and then they just..... Get over it, I guess?? No big concern there What is concerning is that my feet start going numb around 15 or 20 minutes in. That normal?

Law Enforcement and the lower tiered elite military units primarily care about “culture fit” or “team fit” during initial selection. I’ve personally witnessed many subpar candidates that’s eventually washed out, during field training, due to not being physically talented enough to stay. In my opinion these people should not have ever been selected in the first place, but I’m not in charge, so it’s not on me when these unfit individuals get others killed or seriously injured. In short, if leadership thinks “you’re a good fit”, you’re 75% there and will make the team if you meet the average fitness requirement compared to everyone else who is trying out with your cohort.

@ExtraRice365
@ExtraRice365 6 месяцев назад
I think it depends. It you are strong enough to meet the strength demands, extra weight could just slow you down. But if you lack strength, you definitely want to add muscle. Have you researched and set specific strength goals? I think that would be more important than focusing on weight
@WeebleWabble
@WeebleWabble 6 месяцев назад
@@ExtraRice365 max bench is 275, deadlift is 465, squat is 415. I can do 100 pushups, 90 situps in 2 minutes and 21 pullups. But i also feel like i have more time to prepare, is there anything i should focus on?
@ExtraRice365
@ExtraRice365 6 месяцев назад
@@WeebleWabble dang you seem strong. Did you play a sport in HS? But more importantly, how is your rucking & running speed and endurance? That should be super important for becoming a Ranger. I'm no coach, but I would say you don't need to bulk up more unless it helps you ruck better. For comparison, I'm 6'3" 200lbs and you can lift a lot more than me.
@ExtraRice365
@ExtraRice365 6 месяцев назад
@@WeebleWabble I would also say, consider things like overhead press strength rather than just bench. Also, grip strength & endurance. A lot of strong lifters tend to overlook grip strength because they've gotten used to the ease of barbells and dumbells
