The Russian Revolution (1917) kicked off with the February Revolution (or March Revolution) which started on International Women's Day. Women urged factory workers to join them. In the following days demonstrations were followed by riots and shootings. Key moment was when soldiers and police men joined the side of the protesters. The State Duma and Petrograd Soviet (Provisional Executive Committee) emerged as new powers. Order No. 1 was issued. Tsar Nicholas II later abdicated. Convinced by Alexander Kerensky Grand Duke Mikhail (brother of Tsar Nicholas II) declined the throne and thus the Romanov Dynasty was no more. What role did the Bolsheviks, Mensheviks, Kronstadt Sailors and Socialist-Revolutionaries (SRs) play in this turnover? This is the story of the February Revolution.

Thank you for a very wonderful presentation. I would just like to add that Nicholas abdicated at the behest of two representatives of the Duma who brought him a list of generals - including his cousin Grand Duke Nicholas and General Alekseev - requesting his abdication. It was only when Nicholas realized he had no support among most of his generals did he agree to abdicate.

Great video as always! I've never seen the Menshevik logo (2:55) and thought to myself that it looks super cool but also suspiciously similar to the modern emblem of Udmurtia, one of the autonomous republics of the Russian Federation. After a bit of searching, I think that it is sadly not a real, historical party logo, but one created by a Deviantart user NRE86, who apparently is into the alternate history.
@HistoryHustle
@HistoryHustle 3 года назад
Ahh shoot, you got me there, Artur. I was indeed looking for a logo and thought this one was legit. I have to remove it for future videos, too bad. Actually, the bolshevik logo is the first logo of Soviet Russia. Perhaps they didn't have such a thing. Or just a hammer and sickle.

A lot of people don't realize that there were two revolutions in Russia. The first in February, 1917 which installed the provisional government, and the second in October, 1917 which installed the Bolsheviks. This is a great video about the February Revolution.

Due to the police and/or army refusing to go into action against their own people is the major reason why Stalin made sure that they who were the government officials or military forces of one area were from another area of the Soviet Union. He would also take into consideration past conflicts between the regions of the Soviet to move his forces.
