What happened during the October Revolution (October Coup) of 1917 where the Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd and soon Moscow as well. The storming of the Winter Palace was the final part of the so-called Russian Revolution. I'll explain the April Theses and the July Days. What was the role of Vladimir Lenin and Lev Kamenev in all this? It's an important, often misinterpretated, episode in Russian history. It this video I'll explain the October Revolution.

He's a high school teacher lol not a prof and far from it. LMAO. He's also NOT a historian nor has a history degree but simply a basic education degree with emphasis in teaching history for that particular level of school for which he teaches. To get that degree he needs only take one to three history classes with the rest of core classes being mostly on just how to teach and the policies of educational boards policies etc and psychology of teaching. Lol far from a prof and all he's doing is quoting established facts

I think what a lot of people miss about the October revolution is that it isn't necessarily when the Bolsheviks seized power. The first openly free and fair elections in all of Russian history, were held after the October Revolution, in which the Bolsheviks came second to the Socialist Revolutionaries. Ultimately, I'd argue its due to the ensuing civil war and the large support the Bolsheviks had from the military that actually lead to them eventually gaining complete power. The provisional government (Dominated by Right SR Trudoviks), wasn't popular due to their continued effort to fight the Germans and the Political repression from the Okhrana, formerly the secret police of the Russian empire, which was now operating on behest of the provisional government. (Just to name a couple examples.)
@HistoryHustle
@HistoryHustle 3 года назад
Actually the Bolsheviks dismissed the elections after the results weren't favorable. More on that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LeBaBjVJVTk.html
@fenton3137
@fenton3137 3 года назад
@@HistoryHustle Didn't the Socialist Revolutionaries split, with the Left-SR's forming a coalition with the Bolsheviks? I just feel like its a bit ambiguous due to the schism within the Socialist Revolutionary party. Don't get me wrong, the Bolsheviks eventually got rid of opposition; As is the case in Democratic Centralism, which Lenin advocated for.
@sstuddert
@sstuddert Год назад
@@fenton3137 Why didn’t the Bolsheviks hold another election, with a new constituent assembly? They’d been calling for elections for months, and as soon as they lost said elections they just dissolved the constituent assembly. A few years later, they were executing the Konstradt sailors. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and shits like a duck… then let’s come up with all manner of ad hoc explanations and call it a “revolution”!

@HistoryHustle
@HistoryHustle 3 года назад
Would say its version. See, if the Bolsheviks would only focus on the Winter Palace they never would've gained power. A coup is more than storming a symbolic building. Seizing control of press and communication centra are also key components.
@thomasmaughan4798
@thomasmaughan4798 3 года назад
@@HistoryHustle "Seizing control of press and communication centra are also key components." In the internet era, actually seizing control is difficult BUT it is possible to suppress communications that are not approved by the cabal; as has been seen in the United States by that Time Magazine article boasting of having such a cabal to control what information reaches the Americans. In this manner you can reduce the effectiveness of opposition while not suffering the casualties of actually trying to eliminate the opposition (that is a thing that can come later). Eliminating Russian opposition took a long time, decades!

I don't think it was a coup in the sense of a military coup, where a small group- the army, takes power at the point of a gun. Granted, the MRC, who arrested the ministers and took control of key positions in the city was a small group, but one can't hold power for long without massive backing. Whatever the amount of support for the Bolsheviks, it had become one of the populair political movements in just a few months, because of the promises for peace and land. Power did transfer to the Soviets, and as most workers and soldiers despised the Kerensky government, this was a welcome change. So, coup or not, as said in the video, the Petrograd Soviet already had executive power in a practical sense. At this point, the Bolsheviks were the largest party in the Petrograd Soviet, but other parties, like Mensheviks and SR's remained in the Soviets, Soviet Russia became a one-party state only during the Civil war (I think?)

"However this is high school standard history" In what high school? I probably tuned out rather a lot of history but the teachers were also the football coaches and consequently they were as interested in history as was I. The importance of knowing history simply did not impinge upon my consciousness at the time. For the record, I believe that this importance includes (but is not limited to) the predictive power of history as it repeats itself while providing useful information in case enough people don't want a repeat.

@nimkati5627 3 года назад
Then you need to cover the policy of korenizatsiya (forceful de-rusification and imposition of newly discovered local identities and languages on the entire population of certain regions) conducted by the Soviet government as well. Otherwise you will create a wrong impression that Russification was the policy under the Soviets, when in fact the opposite of it was taking place. Bolsheviks even invented the term "the Great Russian chauvinism" to describe the tsarist Russification policies and created those limitless national republics and autonomies, where the usage of Russian language was forcefully limited. And you want to make them look as russificators. If that's not distortion of history, then I don't know what is.

In my limit experience and what I understand from watching and reading the WW1 history the main conclusion of this war collapsed three main empires Germans Russian and Ootomans and the collapsing of theses empires produced Bolshevik in Russia Nazis in Germany and radical Islamic groups in The Islamic world such as Muslim Brotherhood Khomeini revolution
@HistoryHustle

Never seen it that way. Radicalism is something that can occur in turbulent times As for the latter you mention: Muslim Brotherhood originated in Egypt which by that time (1920s) wasn't a part of the Ottoman Empire for a long time. The Khomeini revolution occured in Iran. Iran never was a part of the Ottoman Empire.

The Ideas of it all was established in many countries via Socialism and they gain the benefits of those ideas, the working class started to breath more, the economy growth, working hours less, education become massive, industry grow, etc. Lenin works (books) can be understood only if you studied Hegel's principle of dialectic. Till this day it is considered that Lenin philosophy can not be compared to other political figures. And as proved, modern Capitalism absolutely destroyed your rights as a working class in comparison to what they fought for.
