More Hollandspiele! I know solitaire games aren’t usually your thing, but Hollandspiele has some excellent ones. I just played Wars of Marcus Aurelius yesterday. I’m looking forward to trying Stilicho and Aurelian.

I'll never say never, but I would be very surprised if I ever got into solo gaming at this point. I've tried many times and they just don't do anything for me unfortunately.

It's a funky mechanic, but I think it works well considering the game only takes 20 or so minutes in person.

While this and the other Hollandspiele games you have covered recently don't really appeal to me from a gameplay perspective, I have to say that I'm very intrigued by using relatively obscure historical events as themes. I remember hearing about the board game Versailles 1919 last year, thinking, "How do you make a game about a treaty?" and then Amabel just turns things up to 11 with this game as well as the Witches and Toledo. Very nifty!

I agree regarding the themes. Very interesting stuff, I've enjoyed learning about things I had no idea about either. I'd never heard of The Field of the Cloth of Gold as an event for example, or the Toledo War.

This feels like a game that you have to play or watch a playthrough of to really understand. That being said, I feel like I understand it now! Great video.

It's a nice game, and if the box is small enough, it can be one you'll able to bring in a bag somewhere. It's nice seeing these smaller size games on the channel. My favorite of it was that when you are thinking about what to do, you also have to take into considerable what tile you're gifting to your opponent, and how that might affect future actions. Even with your best efforts to not give your opponent points, sometimes the random events give the player good things, such as your hand with 3 gold tiles in it by the end of the game, and being able to get them out on your very last turn of the game. Overall, nice tutorial, and I hope to see more smaller games like this one with tutorials on your channel in the future.

Doesn't seem like a bad game. I like the creative design. That said, despite the fact that I am interested in history themes, the history here is pretty abstract. I'd play if someone asked me to, but I'm not running out to get it. Enjoyed watching the playthrough!

At first I was like "Oh, cool, old school game!", but then I checked BGG, and oh my god! - the release date was in 2020 :D

An interesting 2 player game but locking down the gold with the dragon for the whole game seemed annoying to me. I would just get frustrated I think.

Ive seen this happen, or other actions get locked out. I think it’s an intentional part of the design since the game is so short.

This feels more like a meaty game mechanic than a game unto itself. Maybe a 'Queenie'- or 'Chronicle' type of expansion to some more substantial euro-game?

I see it as a great distillation of an interesting mechanic. It certainly could be filled out into something bigger but I think it stands well on it's own as a 20m game.
