Explore the unlikely story of how a Colorado film company became one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world - The Alexander Eaglerock Aircraft Company.
Join Wings Over the Rockies Curator Chuck Stout, and guest Brian Richardson, as we compare two models of Alexander Eaglerock aircraft to see the rapid advancements in aviation technology during the 1920s.
This one’s going to be cool!

The Alexander Aircraft story is a unique look into 1920s-30s aviation history. Drop your questions, and we will try to get to as many as we can!

Very well produced. As an Alexander Film Company historian, I appreciate the research and detail for this presentation. I also appreciate crediting Al Mooney for his self taught aeronautical engineering genius. A great book on this subject is the 1985 "Alexander Eaglerock: A History of the Alexander Aircraft Company" by Colonel John DeVries. A detailed book on this amazing Colorado based Aircraft Company. The book is out of print, but used copies are available on Amazon.

My grandfather worked for the Alexanders. Moved to Colorado Springs when the company moved.

Allot of younger folks are amazed at the technical precision of the early planes when they see them in real life. Not on a screen. Especially the engines. It didn't happen over night. Early pocket watches go back to the mid 1700's. Precision engineering was fairly less understood by that time. The difficulty was usually in the use of petroleum. How to seal combustion and lubrication, ect... Folks were smart back then. Just go look at the WW! Dreadnought in Texas. USS Texas. The engine room and fire control systems will blow your mind. Coincidentally, it is getting a refresh right now and was just re floated.
