Put a mailbox in your next garden, on a post . Then. You can put some garden gloves and garden tools in there, it will keep your tools protected from. The elements, also they will be on hand for you !

A friend of mine sold her place while her garden was producing (much like yours) and she (in the closing) determined that the new owners were willing to let her harvest the garden. She generously gave them half the harvest in exchange for letting her harvest it. They really didn't know how to harvest or preserve. She helped them learn... and I am sure next year they will be better gardeners because of her help. Good luck, girlie...

In real estate crops are considered emblements which are personal property. When you sell a property you have the right to come in the 1st year and collect them. I wonder if Becky knew that but just didn't want to disturb the new owners. 🤔 or if she didn't know this at all.

I really hope the people who bought this house continue this garden and enjoy the blessing here! They have such a good start. In today’s world with elites playing with our food and food scarcity news of food plants being burned to the ground, it’s a blessing to have all of this!!! Fingers crossed they understand this blessing!!!

I agree. You know all these plants. The new owners probably won’t know what they are and how or when to harvest. Offer them half of the remaining harvest and give them information on using them.

I cried because I feel your heart. You actually planted the largest seed of your life there, because the next owner(s) might just start gardening if they had never done so before because of all you are leaving behind. So we say "you planted a seed" when you share something that helps someone else. Bless you Becky for being so generous with such a loving heart. You share with all of us on here and elsewhere in your life as we just watched. Love you my friend

I so agree! And even if the new owners don't know how to garden, Becky, you've produced hundreds of hours of training videos on how to steward this land. If they want to garden, you've shown them (and thousands of others) just how to do that.

@@shannoneg2000 Yes and I was also thinking it might be a great way for them to try and go back and see what is growing where LOL..I know that's the Becky method there but I swear, I moved recently to a new home from Florida (dodged a big bullet, Ft. Myers) to Middle Georgia and the ornamental plants, flowers and trees growing here were all a mystery to me. I downloaded that Picture This app on my phone and was able to find out what everything was but maybe the new owners won't know to do that.

@@LosingDrea LOL, If I were in Becky's shoes, I'd feel compelled to draw a map to breakdown of what grows where, when things ripen, and providelinks to related videos. That probably isn't the Becky way though 😂

@@shannoneg2000 Oh I think that is the Becky way. I find were years apart in age (i'm way older) but she seems to do the same things I myself would many times I've seen which is why I watch her and I would be the type to feel what she felt leaving some behind for the new owners and I would create a map or at least put some markers in the ground where stuff is planted if she herself can remember what is where. I know she has much more to do now in her new place and being pregnant the farther along she gets can't be fun for her being out and pulling weeds, harvesting by herself, etc..though she clearly loves it and wouldn't give it up for anything at this point.

I literally cried watching this episode. You are the kindest, sweetest person to leave produce in your garden for the next owner. You could have been very selfish and taken it all, after all, you did all the work in planting, weeding, watering, but you didn't! Your selfless act will be rewarded someday. Highly recommend sending a link to one of the recent garden tour videos through the realtor if you don't have direct contact so the new owners can see what's in their new garden! I would be super intimidated trying to figure out what everything is. Surprised at how sad I am to say goodbye to this garden! I know your next one will be just as good or better, just didn't know I was so invested. I rent, and I'm not able to do a full garden so I was living vicariously through these videos and clearly I got attached. 💚

Becky, I am so forever grateful for you and this garden. This garden has gotten me through some really tough times from myself having cancer, to my best friend suddenly passing away, to my fur baby crossing the rainbow bridge. Every time I’ve needed a friend, you have been there without even knowing it. I am so emotional about the last harvest here. But I am so beyond excited to see how you transform your new space. Not sure if you’re even interested but you can grow microgreens on a counter without buying anything except seed and some potting soil. They don’t require fertilizer or grow lights 😀

I always had a black thumb but watching you during 2020 has inspired me..I have gone through 2 harvest....some losses and some amazing wins...I grew corn potatoes tomatoes basil garlic and ocra.....peppers and onions seem to get the better of me but I'm still going...even got a Meyer lemon tree that has 6 lemons on it. you have done an amazing job and we can't wait to see what happens next

Just wanted to let you know that you’ve kept me company since the beginning of 2021 in this crazy pandemic and not a single month in 2022 has gone by without me making freezer meals good for a month in my tiny apartment in Tokyo. You’ve even inspired me to grow veggies and herbs in a grand total of 10 pots in my 2sqm balcony. This video was so bittersweet I couldn’t help but cry! I think it’s really sweet when homeowners leave a note or gift when they leave the house---my sister still refers to the name of the people who she bought her house from years later (they left a note and a bottle of wine), they’ve become part of family legend. She even considers contacting them someday to show them the changes they’ve made over the years. I know anyone from my friends or family would think it’s so charming to have produce in the garden if they moved in.

I agree! We bought the house we are in now from an elderly woman (who sadly passed) and her daughter who was selling the house left us a note and described the houses/ her families history and childhood and it made me cry, it was so sweet and I’ll think about it forever.

Yes, i agree! I left notes around the house we lived in for 38 years when 2e sold it wnd had little stories conbected with the notes. The guy who bought our house just told me recently he periodly reads my notes and that has been 6 years ago. That made my heart tlip flop!

My last garden was in Montana, very short growing season. Many, many green tomatoes with first frost imminent. From somewhere, can't remember where, I was told to pull up the entire tomato plant with the green tomatoes and hang them up, roots on the top. The green tomatoes will continue to pull nutrients from the plant and a lot of them will ripen. And you can still enjoy some green tomatoes. I did that and hung them in my pump house for my well. And indeed it worked. Should work in your basement. I love your channel. I enjoy you, such a positive person and so grateful for your blessings. Love the gardening, preserving and cooking and the chickens. So happy you are pregnant, looking forward to following that too.

I’m so emotional and it’s not even my garden! Whoever bought your house is so lucky, you’ve really set them up for success. Even if they aren’t able to do as much as you have, think of all the self seeding volunteers that will pop up next year! I wish you could’ve potted some of the perennials up as they take longer to establish. But just think by the time you get asparagus at your new place, you’ll probably be potty training the Little One! Get as much done and prepared before baby comes because you won’t have much time after. But imagine the satisfaction of being able to make your own baby food! I hope the new owners really appreciate all you have left them, now..on to bigger and better things!

My grandma told me that when she was a young girl her mom would wrap green tomatoes in newspaper and store them in a box under the bed. And check them and pull ones that ripen through the winter!! 😊

Try growing Emerald Tower basil next yr. I grew it this yr & I have had sooo much basil. They grow like mad & r very productive. I live in AR & this yr we had over 100 temps & no rain for over 2 months. The basil just kept on growing & producing. It’s amazing👍

When you set up your next garden you should number each growing bed and make a spread sheet on your computer of what is in them, that way you can keep track and update it as you take things out and plant new ones. If I was in your place I would never remember the varieties that I grew after just a week of planting them lol

Oh! If you’ve never ate fried pumpkin, definitely try it! My husband said his momma always fixed them fried pumpkin every fall. I thought he was off his rocker but said I’d try it. OH MY WORD - YUM! In case you haven’t fixed pumpkin this way, cut pumpkin up, boil in small amount of water to soften skin, remove skin and put the meat into a skillet with butter, brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon and nutmeg if you don’t want to use p.p.s.

My grandmother use to wrap green tomatoes individually in paper and put them in the basement, bring them up 1 at a time to ripen. They definitely kept for a couple months.

Sometimes I watch your videos and get a tinge of jealousy at how abundant your garden is, but then I am reminded that you have loved on that garden for a few years now. I am going to keep pushing through with my first year garden and see what this fall brings me. We are just hitting cooler temps (80-90 during the day and 60s at night) so we have much growing to be done!

Consider growing lufas in the same garden with your squash and zucchinis, and pumpkins. I have friends who found lufas (they're very smelly) seemed to protect them. This may be just a fluke, but the plants that weren't with them had bugs, the ones with, didn't. As well as nasturiums and marigolds, many people swear by those, too, for keeping bugs away.

Ben Hollar of the YT Hollar Homestead channel made the same observation in their North Carolina garden this summer. It wasn't intentional on their part but the areas that were closest to the luffa trellis/arch were not infested...same veggies in other parts of the garden were the unintentional sacrificial plants.

You can always communicate with the new owners. If they decide to prune back or take out the raspberry bushes you could ask for some of the clippings, etc. Think everyone is anxious to follow your new journey of developing a new garden. You have a lot of good ideas.

I share in your emotions Becky. I am housebound and watching you and your garden has been such a light in my life. I cannot work my own garden but I shared in the joy of yours. I spend much of my day watching the same four walls but when I watch you in your garden I am right there in the garden with you and your girls. I am going to miss it so much and am so glad that you are taking some seed to help start the new garden so that, if we are lucky,the old garden will live on a little in the new. It was so emotional watching this video. I had a tear in the eye, I can’t imagine how hard it must be to leave something that has bought so much joy. Becky you have encouraged so many of us all around the world to get into gardening. My journey started in March 2020 at the start of Covid. I have recently started to extend my garden into my front yard in raised corrugated iron garden beds. With spring in Australia it’s all systems go for the season. I have got Tomatillos, jalapeño peppers and ground cherries to play with this year all because of you Becky and watching your joy harvesting your beautiful produce. I also bought Rhubarb from a Rhubarb farm 15minutes from my home today and made two batches of Rhubarb Jam this evening. I will be adding chickens to my backyard in the future I am allowed to have no more than 10, as living in suburbia. But that will be enough. You say you get so much from the community of your channel, but I can certainly say that we as a community get so much from yourself and your whole family you are an inspiration to many of us. And particularly those of us that have health issues and are isolated you are that friendly face that makes a bad day great.

I have followed you since your first video, and have loved learning and growing my knowledge of gardening along with you. Quite frankly, I was just looking for meal prep ideas, but I have learned more about gardening, canning and being deliberate in my food choices. As you end this phase and move into a new one filled with at least 1 new family member, a new home and continuing with a busy YT community, I wish you all the very best and I hope you continue to create joy, happiness and success. Becky - you are saying goodbye to this wonderful garden just as my husband and I are saying goodbye to ours - but for a very different reason. He is 79 and I will soon be 76 and find we just can't do it any more. We may have a few containers of tomatoes on the patio but that will be it. We used to have a 5,000 square foot garden but each year it got less and less. I am really looking forward to your new garden and your new life with Josh and the baby. Keep up the good work.

Love what you said about failure at the end. I've been reading a book and he said something very similar. Sometimes our greatest successes come from our biggest or most painful failures. It is such a great thing to think about and come to realize. Once you can recognize that with every mistake or failure we learn something and that knowledge is power!! You can completely change your mindset when you look at life through a lens of as you put it Becky, "grace" and learning from failure and know that things happen and we will be ok . They will come and go just like the seasons. We will grow wiser and stronger just like our green thumbs! So happy for all your successes this year and for all the exciting things you and Josh have wanting for you in your ! 💜💜
