Dude I had a teacher like that. He was a green beret and a Capoeria Maestre. He was a laid back hippie most of the time. But you could tell when he snapped to ready. Everything about him shifted.

The reason that students won't give him shit isn't because of how tough he is now. It's because they will recognize that out of everyone who said they would fight for their students, Voss was the only one who really did so.

I think Kevin is a legit fan and he practices. Also, he's good friends with Rogan, so I'm sure there was some connecting going on

@@Jay-og4yb Look at eddie hall in his peak performance shape. Fat over those muscles. A lot of strongmen have round bodies. Be very careful about thinking fat people are weak...you will be surprised one day.

@@kendobc Eddie Hall also ballooned up to over 400lbs to win his WSM win and 500kg record deadlift. He was not healthy at that weight. Granted he was the worlds strongest man at that time, he was killing himself doing it.

The hair on the back of my neck stood on end first time I watched it. I mean, to deadlift a grown man in that position? That takes some serious strength

See while I do enjoy this film, I personally find this end fight a bit disappointing. The whole movie is set around the idea that succeeding and victory aren't the same thing. They make fun of him for constantly losing, but he's not trying to win, he's just trying to get paid, to save his school and the kids. He in fact, takes pride in the fact that he reached a point that just showing up, is all he needs to do, to reach his goal. So when they reveal the twist of the principle stealing the money and he has to win, from that point, it just becomes your typical underdog sports movie. And what I wish had happened, what I think would've fit more with the spirit and theme of the film, is to have him try his hardest, fight as brutally as he does in the film...but still lose. Because the reality is he's just not as good as the world champ. He gets knocked out, the film fades to black as he hears "and the winner is Other Guy's Name" When he wakes up in the recovery room, the kids are around him, Salma Hayek is there, and they have a scene where he's all like "I'm so sorry, I let you all down" "No, you didn't, we're proud of you" you know, the typical stuff you get in films like this. But then the winner comes into the room, shakes his hand and says "Hey man good fight. And I just wanted to let you know, that my manager told me about why you were fighting tonight, and I gotta say, I'm touched. I find what you're doing inspiring, SO, I've decided to donate the prize chest for this fight, to your school." *pause for gasps and squeals from the kids* Kevin replies, shocked "But..why?" The champ grins his gold grilled teeth "You kidding? The public endorsements I'll get for doing this will net me MILLIONS as the golden fighter....with a heart of gold" Then with a bit more serious/genuine smile "But also...I had a teacher back when I was in school that gave a damn about me....and I never forgot him. He encouraged me to follow my dream. And you remind me of him. We need more teachers like you." Then he smiles again, nod/waves to the kids and leaves the room, into a mass of reporters asking him questions, snippets of "Is it true you donated the prize package of tonight's win?" Silence as the door closes, leaving Kevin and his friends/students together for a massive hug shot. Then either roll credits there, or resolve fade to the school months later, for the epilogue. I just think that would've hit more emotionally than Kevin just Underdog Protagonist Powering Up to Victory, like in most sports films. 🤷‍♂

It really doesn't take much strength at all to deadlift 220lbs. I used to deadlift 200 lbs like nothing when I weighed like 150 lbs. I've seen girls deadlift like 300-400 lbs. And that position is actually a very strong position. Yes, I've done enough bjj to know.

Honestly I feel like watching movies 12 years ago was a whole different experience then it is now, a feel like some movies aged bad even if they only are 15 years old because things are different now and the ability of an actor to act is more tricky since everyone has the ability to check them out on any media and only see them as an actor and not the characters they play

Kevin James is fully capable of picking his co star up but bc what he wanted to do was such a huge safety issue even tho both of them were cool with it, they HAD to do the harness thing for not only to protect both actors but for also legal issues as well. It still turned out beautiful. That slam was glorious

This was i think the fittest Kevin James has ever gotten for a movie

People sleep on him because he's big, but he's always been a great physical actor because he's a powerhouse. Same as Chris Farley.

I'm assuming if he let his legs fall to try and stand Scott would have him off balance and with both hands on him he could get an advantage before he could defend. Also he was clearly in shock that he lifted him off the ground to begin with and was too stunned to think properly.

He could've avoided the slam by either hooking Kevin James' leg with his own arm, or by just letting go of the submission. In real life, though, there have been fighters who got knocked out like this when they didn't react quickly enough to being lifted into the air.
