Yah I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it given the mixed reception. This is the OG OG of survival horror and RE wouldn’t be here without it. And it’s ok for it not to be an RE clone, which people seem to be docking points from it for not aspiring to be. The detective noire style and vibe of the game is awesome. And I’m a sucker for a horror title set in old timey New Awwwwwlens. Well worth the price of admission.
From the usual complains from critics and gamers, the game is plagued with issues like stuttering, bugs, glitches, crashes, etc... For me, the game does stutter once in a while, usually when entering new areas, but is largely a smooth experience. I get stuck once in a while on random walls and obstacles for no reason, which fortunately can be corrected by reloading a manual save or autosave. The graphics are fantastic despite the ridicule of it being "PS3-era" since the game is AA and using the Unreal Engine 4. In my 7 playthroughs, the game crashed once, so it's mostly stable. The game's combat is quite awkward and janky, but still manageable and can be fun (for me at least). There's unfortunately no inventory management, no health upgrade, and no weapon upgrades. Even so, the engaging story, solid characters, creepy atmosphere & locations, and the alluring 1920s rural Gothic South noir setting more than makeup for the shortcomings. There's also 5 endings (2 normal, 3 secret), which gives the game some decent replay value.
Lol, I knew someone would say something. After this video went live, and I watched it, I stuck a post-it on my monitor that says, "EDIT OUT THE UHMS". I appreciate you checking out the video. 🙏
title says: AitD is MUCH better than you heard! but video explains that: -literally every aspect of the story fell flat -puzzles aren't too deep -the combat where this game truly suffers, the one glaring weakpoint is the combat being janky Um so... like where comes the 'MUCH better' part? :D
It was a very enjoyable experience but I honestly didn't enjoy the story. And about the different ending, 2 of them are "what if" endings and 1 is basically an easter egg ending referencing the 2nd and 3rd games in the franchise
