The FINAL VERDICT On The Witcher 3 Next Gen Update... 

The close up camera was a game changer for me. It made me appreciate the world so much more than when I played it the first time. I've put in 60 hours in a week and I'm not gonna slow down anytime soon. I love this game.

I bought the GOTY edition 7 months ago, played for maybe 10 hours and then stopped after reading there's gonna be a next gen update, as I wanted to experience it fully. Let me tell you, it was a long 7 months lol I can't believe the update is finally here.

Underrated quality of life change no one is talking about is the ability to switch to any bomb in the ability wheel. No longer do you have to be limited to 2 bombs and if you have the wrong one you have to go to the menu and equip them over and over again!

This game’s Yennefer and Triss are way better than the Netflix ones.

A few hours in and loving performance mode with the new sheen on it. Did not encounter any bugs apart from terrible pop in in Kaer Morhen, specifically in the beginning of the game overlooking the mountains from the balcony, clouds disappear and reappear like crazy it's very distracting, other than that well done and thanks cdpr.

Looking at finally completing this game on XBOX series X over the holiday season.

Planning to finally replay this game after I put heaps of hours in with the game and dlcs. Excited to start it again!!

Looking forward to playing the expansions tomorrow. Been waiting for this update since completing the main game in lockdown.

This update has been amazing, but I wish they added a press L3 for Roach as well, once to canter, twice to gallop. I always turn off auto camera centering when exploring and have gotten used to it, but I think an added horse control scheme like that would've been great as well. Still, awesome next gen update.

I have beaten the Witcher 3 twice so far. I have over 600 hours in it. Can't wait to play it for a 3rd time.

I came to The Witcher 3 pretty late (about 2017). It felt perfect and made me want to continue to play and get invested in the story along with it. It was the most technically impressive game I've ever played. It felt like there were no compromises! It even supported SLI on my system then the best out of any game I had. I put about 100 hours into it and wanted to replay it with the graphics mods like I am with Skyrim right now. Installed the update yesterday and holy crap all the work they did to an already amazing looking game is next level. I'm running it on a 3090 and I want this to set an example for devs to be building up their best games as the tech evolves. Within reason of course. I hope it creates another massive surge in players launch week.

I've spent a grand total of 5 hours in Witcher 3. This time, I'm gonna play through the whole thing! No better time to start than with the best version of the game!

Played through all 3 games for the first time this year i was impressed how well they all held up. Only gripe is how the game controls drastically change through the series.

Played and loved 1 & 2 a couple of years back, loved Cavill, and been saving 3 for this update. Also bagged an XTX yesterday. That's me sorted for Winter.

So happy with what they've given us with this. If I had to ask for more, it would be an unlocked new game plus with limitless playthroughs, and a transmog system. But far out, what an amazing update!!!

I remember watching my friend play the 2nd Witcher years ago and was always interested but like you said Skyrim. Then the show came out and now the next gen update oh you know I’m gonna give this a crack. Great video as always keep them coming.

Neon knight confirmed that the added a fast travel point next to the bloody barons house AFTER you finish his quest line.

So the voice actor for Geralt is actually on Cameo, and he will absolutely do personalized messages for you, in his Geralt voice. It’s a great way to wish your friend a happy birthday or a congratulations, from the famed White Wolf.

Been playing for 3 hours after download. and man it blew my mind.. the amount of work they put here is amazing , the game looks insane and plays much better can’t tell it came almost 7 years ago! What a marvel ❤

I played this game 3 years ago. Then I heard a gen update was coming so I stopped playing and waited and waited and waited. I waited on rumors for a game I was dying to play and finish. After a long self torture I'm so excited for the 14th of December.

Started NG+ last night after the update, looks amazing and so glad for the cross-saves. Now I can add extra items on the PC version, save and then transfer it across to my Series X to resume from there.

I'm gonna be extra busy b/c of Mr. Matty for a while. I've been playing Persona 5 Royal for over a month now based largely on Matty's recommendation (I generally don't play a lot of JRPGs, esp. turn-based games, but I'm playing it, & loving it, but got the game when it came out on XBox b/c Matty kept talking about how it was 1 of the best games of all-time). Once I finish that, I'm going to have to go back to The Witcher 3 & check out this update...

Looking forward for this, played it on the one X on a 55" 1080p Sony TV a few years back, this time around it's gonna be on Series X and a 4k 77" LG oled, can't wait!

The best QoL mods for OG W3 were the max loot mod and the auto-loot mod. I hate inventory management and the loot mechanism was also time consuming. So it made life easier. The time you save just from breaking down or selling your hard-earned loot was a life-saver.

Watching you pick and choose what to loot on that first clip is making my eye twitch. YOU LOOT EVERYTHING!!!

I need to get back to this game, I have it on Switch and put about 2 hours into it, might get back into it, especially now that I have an Oled Model, it’ll look a lot better on that than the Switch Lite I was playing on before

I originally played this game on the Xbox One back when it came out, but now I have a beefy computer to run it on, I will def check this out, thank you Matty!

Blood & wine has my favorite ending of a DLC… so epic

I love the long intros where you talk about life I don't think you mean to do it but they're very relaxing when I'm high

I love Witcher 3 one of the best RPGS for it’s time and still is. I’m interested to see the next gen. I remember Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings, on Xbox 360. That game is still a gem

doug has done VO work in other games for geralt like monster hunter world and soul caliber so he has kept the chords warm for a lot less than 7 years

I probably won’t jump back into this for a while because there are soooo many good games out right now. I’m glad to hear it’s good though and look forward to playing it again at some point!

Does anyone know for certain whether PS4 saves can be loaded into the PS5 version? I began Hearts of Stone earlier this year but didn't finish it and would love to continue it at 60 fps, but it seems difficult to find confirmation either way online.

haven't done a full playthrough since 2017 and really have that itch to start up another with this update

CDPR did learn from the launch of Cyberpunk. Maybe not the higher ups being greedy, but the game Devs and Designers have stated that they will use other Engines (unreal) and not always make a new one for each game. Which was a huge part of the original time frame set back of Cyberpunk from what I've read.

Matty you gonna do a review on "High on Life?". Game is actually really good I'm enjoying it alot. Has some frame drops but other than that it's an awesome game.

Questing feels so good in Witcher 3 I have started a new playthrough and I am hyped for a reason to play again

I tried out this new 4.00 update on my PS4 PRO and the foliage drawdistance in general, but especialy on the trees looks much worse then in the 1.62 version to a point where its quite immersion breakig because trees look like cardboards and starts to become 3D quite close to the camera now.

Have 50 hours into it so far and stopped playing for now since there’s an update coming soon to fix some other things. But so far this is still one of my favorite games and have been wanting to go back to it since I first beat the story. I got it launch day and it took me like a year to finish the story. And I did Hearts of Stone but never completed Blood and Wine because by that time the upgrade got announced so I waited. And started over. God I love this game

I was hoping for hud changes to clear up the screen for exploration and brings it back for combat and when you open up the wheel menu you can see the mini map as well so you can have it disabled in exploration

Do I need to keep graphic options at Ultra plus for the new visuals or there is no big differece between high to ultra plus and also is FSR 2 worth it? I run a Gtx 1660.

I’ve never played it before and I’m amazed playing it with the upgrades they made for it!!! It looks amazing and it’s a beauty in it’s gameplay!! It’s the best game I’ve ever play!!!

Installed the update only to have it continuously crash on my PC, great start 😅 worked fine before the update. Fingers crossed a clean install fixes it!

The only thing lacking in this game is the combat...if that was improved it would be my favorite game hands down

I can't love The Witcher as much as I hear others do. I don't hate it, I loved some of the sub plots but there's something about the world that doesn't click with me. Still going to finish it and I bought the GoTY edition a few years ago. Just haven't got around to finishing it.

I beat the Witcher regular edition for about 120 hours, then bought the GOTY edition and did not know you can simply play the DLCs with a preset level and all other quests locked, so I beat the main game again just to get to the DLCs... Best reply to a game I ever did :)

I have the PS4 disc and on my PS5 I noticed that some game play options like quick casting are available but none of the camera options or even the graphics options are there. Anyone else have this issue?

Looking forward to this once i finish ragnarok. Played and 100% on both ps and PC so my 5th and final playthroughs will be on xbox.

Started today ps5 just finished white Orchid loving the new camera but prefer the old one for combat.60 fps makes the game a lot smoother and still looks great.

As a collector I’m going to rebuy the game on series x or ps5 if they do a physical next gen version lol. I remember when i bought the GOTY edition i was mad my save from original Witcher 3 version didn’t carry over lol

The update sets your settings back to default. the amount of save slots has gone from 7 to 2. Witcher sense feels more slippery. Was in the middle of a play through. Lvl 18. PS4. Save files a getting corrupted right before my eyes. I may lose this play through. You can't select signs in the wheel with R3 in standard casting anymore it has to be L3. Alternative casting let's you select from wheel with R3 but u still have to hold R2 and the corresponding button to cast. It would be best if they didn't touch standard. Also if alternative could auto cast what it was set to at the tap of R2. The last version I had saved was 1.06 . Made a save and updated to 1.60. it was fine. Now they've come with 4.00 and it's killing my game. Had to delete games to make room for this and it has just swooped in and pooped on me.

I just have one question? does it reset your trophies?

I never got to play Witcher 3 since I never got any new consoles since 2010 except for the Switch, and I sure as hell won't be playing it on that platform. Always wanted to get it for PC instead. Now that I bought a new PC that can run modern games well, I'm more than ready to finally play it especially with this new update. Can't wait

So in the new quest does Geralt get captured and then Yen without magic has to come in and use the science to save time then berate him for being weak? Ah pure Netflix.

I also hope Capcom tries to put even half the effort of the Witcher 3 into Dragon's Dogma too. Either way I'm hyped but I can always hope for the moon even if I keep my real expectations more grounded. Always fun to dream.
