I like that Vader is not invincible from the start. The suit makes him constantly focus the force to enhance his once natural abilities. There has to be a learning curve with that.
I think you're wrong. The part where he's going up the stairs, the leg makes the exact same sound as it did during the duel. I believe it was going to break. The leg was inferior metal and design, I believe Emperor did it on purpose to test Vader.
did the surviving jedis retain their knight, master tittles long after order 66? like will the still be calling themselves Jedi masters? cant remember if OBK did in the OT.
Iker Esquivel Ayala the Jedi Order was dead, so I'd assume those titles became semantics after that. Though the Jedi that remained did seem to keep their titles regardless. Kanan points out that he never finished his training and isn't a master (1st season of rebels) and I'm pretty sure Obi-Wan and Yoda are both still referred to as Jedi Master. So I think it's fair to say that the Jedi kept their titles even though the order was gone. Well at least in their heads they kept their titles. Kanan still started teaching Ezra regardless of his own training/rank (though they thought they were the last Jedi left)
I feel like the fights in the star wars universe have been becoming more psychological and emotional. First Ben v. Maul and now this. I personally enjoy the way the fights are now. I feel like the story progresses with the fights more so than it did in the past.
Fights in the films have always been based around emotion. It's the reason why Obi-Wan can fight Maul in PM because of the anger he felt from his master's death, or Luke beating Vader to stop him from getting to Leia. STAR WARS fights are like Dragonball fights. Everyone focuses on someone's power level and who they lost to or beat (which is admitingly fun to do), but really it's not something that can be determined easily. For example, just because Maul died to Obi-Wan in 3 hits doesn't mean he sucks and Old Ben if far superior to him. That battle was really to guys testing their knowledge on each other, and Ben knew a little more.
It's great storytelling. Anakin was still cocky days b4 his slip to the darkside. He bested a Sith Lord with relative ease. But I think he lost a bit of confidence in his loss to Obi Wan and like a whiney kid who loses in Street fighter u wanna get back on sticks to fast to redeem himself. I think that's what this loss meant for him.
I think it was brilliant what they did with this. We absolutely are seeing Vader eat some humility the hard way. I had to go back to the frame where you first see the robotic leg without the covering on it. Then I couldn't believe it when it got severed. Poor guy can't keep his limbs to save his life. I love this comic so far. Vader is my favorite Star Wars character, to begin with. This only adds to his depth.
Joel Castañeda I am glad he did. I really pleased to see that they show him struggling and adapting to life in the suit. Yes Vader should be powerful in his prime, but it's great to see him loose in his "youth". Having him be an all powerful killing machine (against skilled Jedi masters) is quite one dimensional
Read "Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader." Vader had to learn to adapt to his suit then too change his whole lifestyle not just his fighting technique. It's been a staple to his character since ROTS.
I think that it is good Vader lost his first battle. Remember Vader is now a Sith apprentice and best believe the arrogance and cockiness of Anakin Skywalker is alive in Vader.
I like how he was defeated! Nothing's better than a hardcore villian being whooped XD (that and it's good character developement shows that he still wasn't able to defeat a jedi master until [correct me if I'm wrong] new hope...)
Charmle H i'm sure he was more than capable by A New Hop and well before that. But I do love how he loses in this comic, show he still has pretty far to go truly become the Vader we fear.
Charmle H in legends he's killed Jedi masters before. And I'm sure we will see him kill more in canon. But it's safe to assume that Vader did indeed kill Jedi masters
I've been waiting for something like this for a long time! Can't wait to see the rest of the series. I'm surprised how fast this came up! this only came out yesterday I think, lol! I admire your opportunism. RU-vid sure is a crazy thing.
I am really glad they showed Vader fail like this. As you said it makes perfect sense - he doesn't become a beast right out of the gate... He needs to learn how to control and use his new powers, and getting schooled by a Jedi Master who is dedicated to combat is an excellent way to do so. However, now we have the fall of that Jedi Master to look forward to!
He didn't get schooled. His leg broke, the only reason that Jedi beat him. His leg was damaged when he walked up the stairs, re-read it. It made the same sound it made during the fight. It breaking is what aloud that Jedi to win. Plus, Vader clearly used the force and put that Jedi on his arrogant ass. Vader didn't even have a Saber. I bet Vader is going to destroy this arrogant Jedi with pure force in the next couple issues.
Put the flour, eggs, milk, 1 tbsp oil and a pinch of salt into a bowl or large jug, then whisk to a smooth batter. ... Set a medium frying pan or crêpe pan over a medium heat and carefully wipe it with some oiled kitchen paper. ... Serve with lemon wedges and sugar, or your favourite filling.
By far this arc is AWESOME. love the way the Jedi took him apart while Vader was 1 sided. the master began to rip his leg apart as well as the schooling was being done. lol... this is where the growth of Vader begins the Love/Hate development for the iCON
You've got a very good point. Vader became that savage after 19 years of training. Just getting that suit should make it difficult to face off the Jedi master who took on the Barash Vow. Good point. I love this channel, keep up the good work!
"If you were focusing half as much on youre saberskill than you are doing on youre jokes youd be a better fighter than master Yoda, Anakin!" "I thought I already was, master!" Johan.
I was really worried that he WOULD beat the new guy easily, the 'Cin Drallig Effect' if you will. I'm glad to see that he gets his butt (briefly) handed to him
This new Jedi Master could probably eat up every Jedi in the previous order, except maybe Mace and Yoda, so it would be weird if it was super easy for Vader to just end him straight away.
Good, Vader felt too op in the last one, so having him be beaten is perfect. Also I would love to see this Jedi master fight Sidious, and even be able to stand toe-to-toe with him, even if its for a while until Vader shows up, or hell, Sidious throws off his fight to let Vader fight him, so Sidious can test, both his fighting skills, and his loyalty.
I hope you can do a more indepth review of this comic as I don't have access to the comics and rely on you for the story. Please do a page by page read through if you can. thx
Vader should have a huge learning curve. Think as if Anakin was still just a lowly ol' a Jedi still BUT after he got his legs and arm cut right off... how powerful do you think he would have been? Not the same I assure you, and yeah he has the power of dark side now but that'll take time, just like his light side powers did, to hone.
Because he probably dies fisically but not to the point where he couldnt manifest himself into something else like someone using essence transfer and we know he is very powerfull so why not
I don't want to spoil myself but it might very well take a year or so for the comic to get transated, so what the hell, let's watch Vader fight a Viking Jedi!
Kinda sad that we might only see Kirak Infil'a for one more issue. Would love to see his life continue but we all know Vader has a red lightsaber... ...would be humbling if somehow Vader gets Kirak's lightsaber with Kirak surviving somehow. But I don't see him running away from this fight. Kirak seems to be a win or die type warrior - his sole purpose as a Jedi is to fight. He'll probably want to go out like a fallen champion.
I might be in the minority here, but I subscribed because I liked hearing about obscure facts and trivia regarding both legends and canon, not "here's what happened in the latest Darth Vader comic". I read the Darth Vader comics as soon as I can, which is a while after their American release due to them being imported, which means that I don't watch any of your Darth Vader videos until I've read the comics, and that's if I remember to look them up. Maybe I've just misunderstood the purpose of the channel and I'm most certainly being picky but I'd prefer, at least, another format when covering current material.
Mister delusion you have subscribe to this channel for the wrong reasons. He covers everything. And he always tries to do it is soon as the comics come out. And for those of us who can't read the comics we need this information. He gave you fair warning, so I can't really see what you're complaining about here.
Ok, this is a completely unrelated question, but I'm hoping someone here can answer my Star Wars question. Obi-Wan's third lightsaber has a very unique skeletal design and besides him only Luke Skywalker's lightsaber has a similar hilt. (Unless, you count General Grievous' lightsabers in Ep. 3. He has exact copies of both Anakin's and Obi-Wan's lightsabers, but this is an Easter egg.) Why do no other Jedi in the old Jedi order wield Obi-Wan style lightsabers. Kitt Fisto, Darth Maul, and Plo Koon's lightsabers all share similar similar features. And even Anakin lightsaber is not completely unique, since Yoda's lightsaber is very similar. Did Obi-Wan invent a new style of lightsaber hilt? Did other Jedi not like the skeletal design? Did other Jedi in fact use Obi-Wan style lightsabers? I could not find any in the movies or The Clone Wars. (I know Luke used plans and parts left in Obi-Wan's dwelling, and that's why his lightsaber is similar. In fact, his saber is actually a modified Alex Guinness stunt saber. I am mainly curious why this design is not prevalent in the old republic era.) Thanks
It doesn't seem realistic to be dropped into a a robot suit with little experience with it, especially given its pain-giving nature, so Vader learning the techniques to harness it to his advantage is to be expected.
This proves that Disney/Lucasfilm should really listen to Marvel when it comes to storytelling. Not that I hate the movies and series, but the comics are clearly doing a better job with the franchise. Closer to the lost Legends material, even.
Hy IMO the main line isn't so good, The best ones, for me are Vader(2015), Darth Maul, Kanan - The Lost Padawan, Vader (2017) and as far as I know Lando was cool.
im likeing the new jedi i kind of think it was bull that vader just walked thru all the jedi with really no challenge after the clone wars this is nice to see
no im glad Vader isn't dominating from The Start Like Any great Warrior they need to best tested so they can fully blossom I think Kirak Infil'a will die by his hand and he will get his Green Kyber Crystal and Bleed it
You can't. In supremacy, if the Rebels get to the last capture point, the ion cannon will go off. But if the empire then pushes the Rebels back all the way, then a star destroyer destroys the ion cannon.
This. THIS is why we need a Darth Vader film, such an amazing character. Also if those bastards make Kylo more powerful than vader I will literaly break them. Kylo is a Emo coward who lost to an ex stormtrooper in melee
idan Ben Avi Uh? What? No he didn't. And I fail to see how running after your enemies on an exploding planet whilst grievously injured makes one a coward...
General Vic Rattlehead One, he never engages in combat with a worthy opponent whilst there are enough, 2 the fact that he got grievously wounded by Finn says something.
idan Ben Avi A) He wasn't grievously wounded by Finn Chewie shot him with a gun that drops tie fighters in the stomach, kind of a handicap don't ya think? B) What? The only time he entered combat he was outnumbered and had the previously established mortal wound and despite this he was clearly toying with the both of them (remember how he just ragdolled Rey at the beginning of the fight? He could've destroyed both of them at any time.) He was under orders to bring Rey in alive and was fighting Finn to get her emotional and receptive to the darkside. Keep in mind I haven't read the novelization which actually gets into the character's heads, this is just what's portrayed on screen.
idan Ben Avi BTW the injury sustained by Kylo at the hands of Finn took out Obi-Wan in episode II, and Kylo shrugged it off and immediately ended Finn. Severed his friggin spinal column, how is this losing again?
His leg broke, the only reason that Jedi beat him. His leg was damaged when he walked up the stairs, re-read it. It made the same sound it made during the fight. It breaking is what aloud that Jedi to win. Plus, Vader clearly used the force and put that Jedi on his arrogant ass. Vader didn't even have a Saber. I bet Vader is going to destroy this arrogant Jedi with pure force in the next couple issues.
The Jedi Master seems to be very one-dimensional to the point where I was tired of hearing him talk. He's not an antagonist to Darth Vader, at least not yet. He's not really someone who challenges Vader on a variety of levels. Vader hardly landed a single hit but I didn't expect him to defeat the Jedi on their first fight. I don't know. This seems to be a very one-note story.
