Narmer was an ambitious Upper Egyptian king who managed to conquer Lower Egypt and declare himself the first ruler of both lands. This began Egypt's Early Dynastic Period, and laid the foundation for one of history's most extensive and long-lived civilizations, lasting over 3,000 years!

I never really cared about the this period of Egypt, it was all crude speculation to me, then I learned about the Narmer Palette and it hit me..this is literally the dawn of history...before this we were looking at archaelogical sites and making educated guesses based on what we saw, and suddenly, we have this piece of rock where the Egyptians themselves are trying to tell us what was happening, using names and symbols that we could read...WOW!

It’s a actual stone statue of Narmer (Menes) … you should show that stone statue of his face instead of the drawing… outside of the fake picture of the drawing .. making him look more middle eastern or European... it was a good video …

Upper Egypt did not become more powerful than Lower Egypt because of trade with Mesopotamia. Upper Egypt became more powerful than Lower Egypt because it was where the majority of nomadic shepherds came from the south and west as the rains diminished year by year in the Sahara turning savannah in to desert. Because of that, Upper Egypt had a much higher population than Lower Egypt and a bigger army. Southern Egypt has always been the heartland of Egypt. Each time Egypt rose in the Old , Middle and New Kingdom it was a Theban prince that conquered the north.

Thebes was an exonym, a name given by outsiders. The inhabitants called it Waset, one of the earliest knowledge centers in the world, millenia before Alexandria. AND THEY WERE BLACK AFRICANS!!!!
