I’m glad that there is work being done to preserve our history and starting from near scratch, all looks like it is coming along nicely. Can’t wait till a few years down the line (no pun intended) to have the line fully restored. Keep up the good work and hope quick and safe work

I suggest you lay ballast on Terram first. It will prevent the ballast from sinking into the ground.

Hi there! There's still more planning going on, as there are a few logistical challenges we are figuring out, which is meaning some things are happening out of the normal order. One of the things we had to do, was to get track down under the bridge quick, so as not to have under the bridge at risk of being filled with concrete, as many others have been in the past. As well as the 150th anniversary event we wanted to hold too. Expect updates in the future, as there is lots going on behind the scenes, and we hope you like what you see! Thanks!

Great to see this going ahead this is brilliant for Chirk and the Ceiriog valley and the north east of the country. Great for tourism with Llangollen railway , Pontcysyllte aqueduct ,Chirk castle and surrounding greater Wrexham county, I am glad this is only 15 mins away from me ,being in the Wrexham county, Doing great work I wish you well

Great stuff and well done. I was a bit surprised to see you using a second sledge to hit the spikes home. I was always taught that hardened steel tools shouldn't be struck together, due to the risk of them shattering?
@glynvalleytramwaytrust
@glynvalleytramwaytrust 4 месяца назад
Yeah that's right. The team was using wood as the strike block to avoid any miss-hits and possibly dameging the track, but found that the energy from the hits were being absorbed by the wood, and the team weren't quite happy with the way the first few pins went in. It's a work in progress for sure, but we just want to make sure the pins go in straight and true. Noted and passed on! Thanks for your kind comments! ☺ 🚂

So, I notice your track gauge says 2’3”. Looking on your website the station yard you laid further up the valley is laid to 2’4.5” why the difference?
@glynvalleytramwaytrust
@glynvalleytramwaytrust 4 месяца назад
Hi there! If you are refuring to the yard at the museum, that's a separate group to us. Which website did you go to? To answer the question though, we chose 2'3" because we become part of a community, joining the Corris and Talyllyn railway, meaning we can share stock for events, ect. Hope this helps. ☺
