The First Week of Owning a 2023 Tesla Model 3 “Extra” Long Range RWD 

LR RWD is absolutely the most sensible choice compared to LR AWD. - longer range / better efficiency - more family friendly acceleration - cheaper - tighter turning circle Regarding winter weather and slippery roads I wouldnt worry too much. EV RWD is not the same as ICE RWD. In an EV the motor is directly connected to the wheels and controls rotations 150-200x second. Sure RWD doesnt have as much grip as AWD and if it is slippery and you hammer it the car will fishtail, but maybe dont do that. Also dont forget that RWD versions has shorter stopping distance than AWD because RWD is lighter. And lastly - good winter tires are much more important than AWD.

I have a model 3 and picked it up 2 weeks ago. Love it so much more than I ever thought I would. One minor point though I’m 51 and love driving my spaceship on wheels. Most of the people I see in teslas are my age so not all of us are quite so past it 🤣

Yes, there are people that have been dealing with gas/petrol vehicles for so long that they really don’t believe that a car really doesn’t need gas or oil, I have people still ask me about oil changes 😄😄😄😄. Times are changing folks!

The weight of the car should help in the snow. Shouldnt be a problem.

I have this model coming in a few weeks (LR RWD). I’m struggling to insure it in the UK. My last quote was £13,500 a year 😂… I’d be interested on a full spec video of the car as there’s very few info about right now.

It is the same. Rear wheel drive Tesla is similar to BMW rear wheel drive in the snow. Talking from experience. Tesla could not climb a low incline snow covered hill. Had to turn around and remember every hill on my route so I could avoid the bad experience.

How are you getting on with the LR RWD? Any regrets? Still prefer it to the AWD?

Hi, i am also considering this model 3 LR RWD here in Switzerland, my question to you is if there is any difference in the equipment with the long range one, ie. Heat in the rear seats or the steering wheel, audio components or anything. Also does this battery load on 250 kw/h? And do you know what are the components of this battery? Many thanks!!!
