The Fish Stick Melody Seemed Familiar... - Splatoon 3 

By the way, I know I'm kinda stretching it with this but this is more like me wondering if the Fish Stick melody may be originally based off of something different, so I made this version that might be the potential "original", especially since the Fish Stick melody sounds so warped and broken almost. But I can see that I might be trying too hard to look for similarities that aren't there lol Though in the end I made this for fun since I really like musical foreshadowing like that and I'm kinda hoping they would be doing something similar with the blender melody like they did with the Grizzco theme, where it would be revealed to be some age old orchestral composition in the end

apparently the fish sticks sing that song as a motivator to the salmonids to keep fighting, maybe tartar played that song to motivate test subjects to keep going and find all the thangs?

They're both associated with death and honor in a sense Salmonid culture values a honorable death (by being eaten) While Tartar was using the blender to kill creatures in an attempt to create perfect beings, something I imagine he considered honorable as well

Just read the Grizzco manual and found out that Fish Sticks give tacticooler boosts to all of the Salmonids around it. lmao I always wondered why salmonids moved so fast when Fish Stick melodies were playing.

After learning the fish sticks sing to encourage their fellow Salmonids, my heart melted and now I feel bad killing them cuz that's just such a sweet and adorable little detail.

It’s vaguely similar, but it’s probably the oddly unnerving happiness to both songs. Though if they were related, I wouldn’t mind a blender inspired boss salmonid. It’d…probably be a lot more morbid than the Griller if we went with the ‘being turned into appetizing food is the highest honor’ route, but I could see blenders simply being repurposed to fire inkstrikes or something like that; maybe some sort of mech king salmonid. All in all they’re a little similar, but have the same tone to them, and I’d LOVE for the salmonids to repurpose the blenders from the NILS statue. I’d kill to see some neon blender fish.

They are similar, but also different enough in tune to be unconnected, so it could just be a pure coincidence people are connecting the two.

the things on their face look kinda similar to tartar plus they spin around in a circle like the blades of a blender (or alternatively stuff you put in a blender spins too)

i think i get why the songs are so similar, the enemy is called a “fish stick” and they sing a song closely related to tartar, and what do you usually eat with fish sticks, thats right, tartar sauce.

just like to point out that the blender music also happens to be the same as the tower control jingle in Octo Expansion missions

Creatures in splatoon are incredibly receptive to music, they can be brainwashed and their morals can change when exposed to certain songs and melodies, so maybe this melody has some sort of significance

Since little buddy also knows the Inkantation and Grizzco's tunes I'm starting to think maybe they somehow hear this songs all the way from the ocean (maybe discarded copies or intercepting broadcast signal) and they repeat it cuz of some elaborate reason or just cuz they like them. It makes more sense with the Blender tune since the deep sea metro is, well, in the sea.

The destroyed NIHLS statue idea is a wild theory and I LOVE it. Splatoon lore has always been very selectively deep, so no, I don't think there's any real connection between the songs. I think its just a coincidence. If there really were a deeper connection between the sticks and Tartar, they would have shown us something more. If this were a viable theory, a cool easter egg would be to have broken rotary phone bits among the rubble when a fish stick is defeated prematurely.

For a cartoonish kids game, splatoon’s music is surprisingly complex. Every song, every soundtrack, every little melody in all of the splatoon games has more to it than one may think.

Fun fact, the fish stick actually give a tacticooler effect to nearby salmonids.

I'm pretty sure somewhere buried in the lore (can't remember where I read it) the octarians bargain gear to the salmonids in exchange for power eggs (not golden eggs). This is where things like the scrapper, steel eel, grillers and more come from. fun note is that the scrappers are literally the shields of the shielded octarians put together. I'm sure that this means that the fish sticks are also a part of that trade deal - splatoon is kind of brilliant with planning lore, even if their lore makes absolutely 0 sense.

If this turns out to be kamabo's anthem I won't be surprised

The fish sticks are actually singing Smeared Canvas, the song that plays when climbing up the rocket in the story mode, which is a nod the fact that you can climb up the fish stick to defeat them.

To me, it kinda sounds a bit like one of the Deep Cut songs that plays during the Alterna rocket sequence (the one that's used as the jingle when collecting one of the 3 "treasures"). Maybe Shiver was influenced by old human tech that the Octarians found and used, since it's implied that the domes the Octarians live in are similar to Alterna.

I mean it makes sense considering the salmonids on the fish stick each have the big eyes and horn thingies like Tartar has, they look and sound like a half attempt to mimic him

Thing I say often: if it was just the songs being similar and no other details, I’d say it’s a coincidence. But the Salmonid goo in this game is a different color, specifically more blue. What else is blue? The sanitized ink. Which makes two different ways to potentially connect the Salmonids with Tartar. I’m inclined to believe it’s not a coincidence

I saw a Japanese post comparing the fish stick melody to a spinning sushi commercial song and it did sound pretty similar, can't find that post though. Edit: I found it but I can't link it here, it's the kappa sushi commercial song, if you search for "寿司 ハシラ splatoon" it should be the second result.
