Would love to see volleyball! Highly dynamic sport with LOTS of jumping, diving and short distance "sprinting", yet very highly technical. Would be cool to examine the differences between indoor and beach volleyball as well. Same goes for other indoor sports like badminton and handball where S&C is often overlooked.

Mixed Martial Arts? Is it an endurance sport? A power sport? A CROSSFIT SPORT?! 👀🧠🤯 Where is it on the force-velocity curve? Everywhere????????! Also what happens to training programming if you're an amateur who does 3, 3-minute rounds instead of 3, 5-minute rounds? How much does this bias things towards speed and power, and how does one adjust their training once they go pro (thus entering that five minute round competitive environment)?

@viator22
@viator22 2 года назад
MMA is a multi modal sport with a frustrating combination of high technical requirements along with high aerobic demands with bursts of lactic and alactic power. Even within the sport you get guys that lean much harder on one side than the other, with fighters like Max Holloway being far on the aerobic side and someone like yoel Romero being mostly a lumbering giant who occasionally explodes into terrific violence.

yea ive found it difficult to find the right training module for power cleans & squats leading up to a ski trip. This may be more of a volume question for me, since the limiting factor that ends most days on the slopes is my quads cramping, but man can I grab an edge at speed early in the day.

Particularly interested in this. Since low body weight is so important, I'm curious what strength numbers road cyclists and long distance runners should aim for. When I was running, I got my 1rm squat from 60kg to 140kg, but my running got significantly slower because I gained 15lbs in the process
@iFlarsky
@iFlarsky 2 года назад
I think there is probably a little bit of a difference in optimal training for those two, as running is probanly higher on the velocity curve and cycling a bit lower - also interesting to note that cycling is constant pressure while running is more like hitting the ground on each step

Hello hello, looking to try out jiu jitsu and I’d be curious to learn about how the force-velocity curve should impact s&c training for that. Seems like sometimes you’re slowly squeezing, other times you’re quickly throwing. Is it a bit of both?

@kirby7475
@kirby7475 2 года назад
I hope they do one, those types of videos are a great way for viewers like us to learn about and get some insight into programming. Most publicly available programs are going to necessarily be somewhere between garbage to meh. If you want a great program you’re going to have to get one that’s made for and adresses your individual needs and circumstances.
@F-Tier_Physique
@F-Tier_Physique 2 года назад
@@kirby7475 yes. Ofcourse individualised programs are better in every way. But having specified which templates do certain things well and other things badly would go a long way to individualise them better for ourselves. Had my best results come from an intermediate Sheiko program for a sumo deadlifter and Mike Mentzer ideal program. Whilst the worst have been PPL and Westside conjugate unequipped. Id really like to see some good free templates highlighted that arent very popular also.

Ive been noticing for a while, but that intro confirmed it. Eoin always gets on you for breathing loudly but I always thought I hear him breathe more than you. But it’s a stoic soothing breathe and doesn’t effect the video. I only started noticing cuz he brings it up. I really can’t hear you though maybe he’s deflecting or he feels your breathing is labored. Either way It’s one of the funnier things that you guys argue about on camera, but maybe take a yoga class together it would drive him crazy I think. Or if you want to fix it Buteyko breathing method. Don’t know if you’ve heard of it.

I compete in strongman. One of the parts that make it fun is you actually have to be pretty good along most of the curve. Im very good at rate of force production and always score well in throwing events like weight over bar. I’m ok at rep events but struggle in the max events. Many of the guys that I’ve competed against, and even beaten, can deadlift 100lbs more then me. Even cardio plays a roll but it’s more like how long can you redline your body before you fall over.
