Trivia for this episode: Misha actually sent the tweets from this episode out in real life and the marriage photo of Jared was the real one and snuck on to the set without his knowledge making his surprise at seeing it very real.
Also, Jared got the Andy Warhol-esque pictures of him and Genevieve but keeps them in his garage because he can't imagine actually putting them up without feeling weird about it. He thinks it's to egotistical.
Jensen had mouthed "what the hell" to the camera the first time they had him act out a scene with Misha (they didn't know he'd do that deeper voice). It's fair game that Misha got to do the same... 😁🤣
This is one of Jensen and Jared's favorites. They wanted to use all the unpleasant behavior known to happen on lots of other sets. Everyone will tell u how unusually fun the SPN set is. Bobby Singer was not the first choice of names but they discovered there was actually someone in the business with that name and quickly renamed him after Robert Singer. No that wasn't Kripke but he did stay aware of what the show was doing after he left. He talks to J2 from time to time in fact Jensen called him to discuss the series finale, wanted his opinion ( no spoilers) and that led to Jensen getting the role of Soldier Boy on The Boys ( which SPN fans are anxiously waiting for. June 3rd, premiere night, cannot come fast enough!!) FYI: Pretty much everything Misha was texting is what he does in real life and his fans have been called Mishamigos among other things. Oh and that cowboy portrait behind Jared was stored in his garage last time he was asked about it. And yes, the conventions in particular often refer to the guys as J2 and J2M. I love how SPN willingly pokes fun at themselves in these meta episodes and on a number of levels. I never tire of watching this one.
- Yes, Canada is cheaper to film in than the US for various reasons. Generous film credits help too. - The guy dodging Virgil's shots was apparently the show's lighting director who is known for his unflappable demeanor... - Compared to most countries, it's supposedly relatively easy to obtain firearms here - though pistols/handguns not so much. It's possible he crossed the border though...
Hope you're doing better now, and you had the perfect episode to reel you back in! Jared and Jensen playing Sam and Dean playing Jared and Jensen playing Sam and Dean. It can't be more meta than that ;) And they literally broke the 4th wall! One of my favorites episodes for sure
I absolutely love watching your reactions; they are so refreshing, insightful, and funny. I grew up on Supernatural and almost know the show by heart, but re-watching through your eyes I am picking up on things that I have never caught before and it is truly like watching it for the first time again. You the best, keep up the good work
Yeah, Jared and Jensen decided that they didn't want the fourth wall break to be completely like real life because they wanted their privacy. So details like the actors not getting along was just a plot device for the episode. No sadly it wasn't the actual Eric Kripke
> sadly it wasn't the actual Eric Kripke I can't tell if you're a huge fan or just would have loved to see him specifically get shot to death lol Either way, valid tbh
The French Mistake was a number performed at the end of Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles. Great fun There were a couple series around when this episode was filmed where the actors didn't get along.. just thumbing their noses at hollyweird behavior. BTS tidbit - Jensen didn't know there was going to be an actual scene from Days of our Lives on the screen.. he was properly shocked. Usually they would have had him reacting to a blank screen in put it in after.
Nailed it. The French Mistake was being performed on a separate stage in Blazing Saddles that we see when they break the fourth wall, so it’s a “breaking the fourth wall” reference. Brilliant.
Apparently Dean is very good on a set behind the camera, but not in front of it. They should have just treated it more like interviewing witnesses in a case.
French mistake is the song playing in the Mel Brooks movie Blazing Saddles where they broke the fourth wall. Knew you would love this episode. Wish they had made this into a two to 5 episode thing. Love your reactions Eric the Red.
Hey, I know there are never the "right" words to say about depression because it's not something that can be fixed by words. But as someone who has dealt with similar, I still wanna say I feel ya and I'm sorry stuff's rough at the moment. Frankly, in this world, it's understandable and reasonable to be struggling. No shame from us; I imagine a fair few of us get it, as much as we can as strangers anyway. I know it can feel like there's an obligation to explain or apologise so me saying you don't have to might not help, but at least please know that we're not here judging. Here's to little bits of hope heading your way in the future :)
"Why are you acting like we're friends?" look man, he was just citing godfather scenes. You don't have to be friends to do that. I could start rambling about it near to strangers lol
Well technically he's been called Misha since birth, as his mom thought it was the diminutive of Dimitri (it's not, it's actually the Russian diminutive of Michael). He eventually just legally changed it to Misha to avoid passport confusion. I would describe his last name more as a stage name considering he changed it specifically for acting.
No apology needed for suffering depression. It seems to be rampant around the globe. I know so many people who live with it - me included ( for most of my life). Actually a large number of reactors confess this to their viewers when their channel has fallen behind. And Covid has multiplied all of this misery tenfold. Just take care of yourself the best you can; that is what is most important. 💜
Yes, fandom and cast/crew have code names for them. Jared and Jensen - J2; Jared, Jensen and Misha - J2M; Jared, Jensen and Jeffrey Dean Morgan - J3; Jensen and Misha - Jenmish/Cockles; Jared and Misha - Mishalecki.
I definitely understand being in a depressive episode. You feel very unmotivated and uninterested in your daily routines. Dont feel the need to apologize if you dont upload when expected, just take care of yourself.
I've been waiting for this reaction from the moment you made that off-hand comment about loving meta episodes of shows. I thought, oooh yeah if he loves meta then he's gonna really enjoy this episode. There are probably other better episodes but this one has always been a favourite of mine along with any episode to do with the Trickster.
my favourite scene ever, Jared andJjensen acting as Sam and Dean acting as Jared and Jensen acting as Sam and Dean (and badly at that) this kills me every damn time i watch it. is there any other show ever that has tried that???
The script was about the episode they were in, but it couldn't have been exactly the same. Because Kripke would've known that the "extra" walking towards him was going to kill him. Also, the crew wouldn't have been repeating the exact same lines that are in the script, that would've been too weird.
Castiel doesn't want to kill Raphael if he doesn't have to it's that simple. They are still brothers and family in some way and killing an angel is bad.
