Timely take. I spent a greater part of the weekend on hands-on AI tutorials, despite not being an IT guy. As you say, all must go ob board except they are retired. One thing also became evident during my weekend studies: a revolution on how children should acquire knowledge is in the horizon. Logic, first-principles and language will be very important. Rote learning (cram work) will make countries go obsolete. Without mastery of a language and deep understanding of storytelling, prompting will be no good. Without logic and first-principles we would even know what to put together or prioritize.
Dr. T, thanks for sharing your knowledge on this important subject. The transfer from old to new technology (I.e., creative destruction) can be both scary and exciting. Those who are prepared will have some great opportunities. I just hope it is used responsibly.
Being prepared is definitely essential. Responsible AI, with the support of the industry, governments, and international organizations, will be invaluable.
Emmanuel thanks for sharing this information about artificial intelligence. Working in the transportation sector some of my colleagues are concerned about AI. I see artificial intelligence as a new way to learn and improve ourselves. I agree with AI not having the human creativity and imagination that we are blessed with yet. I do not agree giving out free money, but I do agree with free higher education so people can be better well rounded individuals. Like you said in your video anything new can be concerning to people who do not know much about AI. Then again that what was said about anything new to society. My main concern is artificial intelligence will serve only a select group who benefit greatly for themselves just how are economy is right now. Time will tell how artificial intelligence will be disruptive, beneficial, and/or both in the future.
Looking at the levels of development, and system of education in Africa will this not have more negative impacts on Africa as compared to its positive impacts.
Quantum computing. ??? We need new encryption brake through to secure us from quantum technology.. even Blockchain Private keys can be cracked in just 10mins ! Really scary
Thanks for the feedback. You know, technology can sometimes be a dual-edged sword, and that can be scary too.
